MATE! I got the same saw (NZ) and have been tempted to swing it overhead by its power cord... fence is f***ed right out of the box.. been thinking of doing the same as you. Sitting on my ass throughout lockdown is over.... time to fix that tablesaw!

Great video! I'm currently looking at doing something similar.. May I kindly ask about the accuracy of this fence? Is there anything you would change if you were to build it again? :)

It was accurate, I don't have this saw anymore, but would built it the same if I had to do it again. Cheers

Great job on the table saw bro.. I have to completely remove my Table saw top and replace it with either 18mm PLYWOOD or MDF.. I'm not sure which is best atm but I hear Plywood is better incase any water damage happens?? My issue with ur build is u didn't show us how the saw is being held in place?? Did I miss that bit? Sorry bro but that is a very important part for me anyways.. Still and all I love the look of the saw now.. U basically have it looking like those massive cabinet saws now.. Great job bro.. If u have a second please let me know how u connected the saw and the rest together bcos I couldn't see anything holding the saw up for the dust collection box to go underneath?!? Thanks for posting this though mate.. It's given me food for thought.. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO U AND ALL IN THE COMMENTS TOO..

I've been qualified as a wood machinist almost 20yrs and I've never used a more dangerous saw than the Aldi workzone table saw, I have one in the garage and it's used for gathering dust. Someone asked me for a lend of it and I refused because i didn't want anyone getting hurt from the thing. It should be taken off the market as its worse quality than pound shop kids toys
@MWLaser
@MWLaser 3 года назад
I have not used an aldi one, however this ozito would be very similar, not the safest tool in the shop.

Hi Matt, I know it's been a few years since you built this, but Im about to do exactly the same with my exact same crappy Bunnings saw. You wouldn't happen to have a pic of how you mounted the saw to the bench would you. Im in 2 minds as to either do what you have done or completely undermount the saw below a flat table top. Hope you can help. Thanks
@MWLaser

I do not have this saw anymore so I cannot provide better photos of the bracket I made under the saw, if you pause about 1:55 you can see i have blocks of wood under the table and then I secured some brackets to these into the sides of the top of the table saw. Sorry I cannot help further. Cheers Matt

Nice vid. I have the latest cheap ozito table saw from 2019. Unfortunately it uses T slots which is a pita for making sleds. Also the surface isnt flat it's kind of corrugated. I'd like to see how you made that fence, it looks miles ahead of the stock fence.
@MWLaser
@MWLaser 5 лет назад
I'm sorry I didn't make a video of the fence build. It was easy enough using form ply, glue and screw ensuring everything square along the way. I have a new saw now so I may make a new table for it. I'm just out of room in my current setup for any more benches. Cheers Matt

How do you find the Ozito table saw? Do you have any accuracy issues if you adjust the blade to 45? I have an old Ryobi table saw that cuts parallel to my fence when its at 90d, but when I adjust it to 45d, its skewed slightly. I figured its probably time to get something newer and was looking at the new Ryobi one, or the new Ozito one. I would be building it into a cabinet of sorts like you have, so setting up a new fence system with outfeed and side extensions is no problem. But I'm more interested in hearing if you have had any issues with 45d cuts.
@MWLaser
@MWLaser 8 лет назад
The best way to answer your question is to say that as a beginner at woodworking, accuracy with cuts on this tablesaw cause me some frustration. ? is it me or the saw ? I'm leaning towards it being the saw and hope to upgrade to something more solid in the future. its been okay for most small projects but not as it comes out of the box. I've had to build this table and a new fence and a crosscut sled to be able to rip and crosscut for my projects. i tried a few mitre cuts without much joy. hope this helps. Cheers Matthew
@oderusfan
@oderusfan 8 лет назад
Thanks Matt, your table saw setup looks great though, so if you're not getting decent cuts and your fence and everything is square. I'd say its probably down to tolerances in the blade spinning being quite low. I might skip on the Ozito unless I can't fix my old Ryobi one. I wish we had more choice like in the US. Watching all these US RU-vidrs with their porter cable/rigid/craftsman/skilsaw etc table saws in the right price ranges makes me sad. Thanks for the info.

Hey Matt Juat starting out in woodworking and using the Ozito brand too. I am interested in that same Ozito table saw, I am wondering how you mounted the saw onto the table, and is it any good? Thanks Slade
@MWLaser
@MWLaser 8 лет назад
hi I've returned my ozito saw. and won't be buying another. I've replaced it with a ryobi which is much better more accurate and does not have a flimsy plastic table insert. i mounted it previously using some timber supports under the table top. Cheers Matthew

can the ozito use dato blades? I just picked one up myself before realizing how useful dato blades are and I am wondering if I should take it back and heft out the cash for a step up
