Did you guys checkout the Maximum Input Theshold section?! Definitely give it a look - I think it is the most important setting for aiming.
@josephturner571

I like to have mine low, 0-5 max, I’ve tried to use 15 on move thumbstick to have a quick strafe but I still perform better with move thumbstick threshold low as well, 3-8

I wanted to comment about that section specifically actually. I did play with max threshold myself in academy. I came back to the game with a medium sens at 6 (max threshold at default ten; acceleration at 4). I was able to acquire target, but against strafing (bots w/spartan movement) my aim would devolve into the back n forth flick. In short i was overshooting when players knew how to dance. I turned UP my sens. I play on 7.5 or 8 What i think helped the most however, was i turned up max threshold to 11 and lowered acceleration to 2. Instantanious improvement on tracking when trying to use micro adjustmemts to my right stick aiming (worth noting i use tall kontrol freek extenders on right stick). I know this was highly personable, but i was incredibly shocked that i got my tracking control by hightening that max threshold (i was trying to debuff look acceleration, but i understood how it works, backwards apparently. I did mess with max threshold to achieve tracking, but did it differently. Just interesting is all)

Just found your channel yesterday and was doing the bot warmup with no hud etc. Love the content dude! One thing I do is stand up stretch in between games, shake my arms and body. As you probably see with your cat, animals know exactly how to stretch and shake to stay loose so good advice on the pre-game hand drills. Lastly loved the soft squeeze. In the Marines/Spec Warfare community, they have a saying, “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is fast” for shooters. In other words don’t jerk the trigger when your shooting, take your time on target acquisition and generally taking your time increases your efficiency. Keep it up brother! 🔥

I'm no pro, but I have learned in Halo throughout the years to not chase around a corner, don't be in the open for very long, and to keep the perimeter of the map to your back as much as possible. Focus on keeping the players in front of you as much as possible so you don't have to snap turn and try to engage someone shooting you from behind. Unless you have a power weapon, it's hard to overcome shots in the back. Just some things that kind of help me. I needed the aim help since I am using a PC and controller these days. My monitor and computer are faster and I am still learning how to get used to the changes. Thanks for the great content!

L o v e your videos my man. Few tips for people: Weird aiming bonus tip: Alternate between looking at your cursor, moving it where you want it to be, or looking at where you want it to be, then moving the centre of the screen to match it. Subtle difference, huge impact in higher levels of play. For stretches, don't do pulling stretches like these - static stretches - before exercises to get the blood flowing (dynamic stretches). The stretches are great but pulling at your joints when you've just started is a big no no! I've had years of physio and RSI; had to learn that the hard way! For warming hands, put your hands at your sides, palms facing your hips, then raise your hand up away from your body, lightly pumping your arms up and down. Think of a penguin shrugging. It helps up your blood flow, without risking hurting yourself in the cold. Clean your thumb stick bases with an old toothbrush, you'd be surprised how smooth an old controller can feel! Oddball tip for controllers - buy one with a great warranty! I cycle controllers from a third party for free, as they give free replacement when stick drift comes along. Complete game changer for competitive players! All the best guys, and happy climbing for those ranks! See you at the top. Ryan (ryanwazzaa on TW and XB/PC)

I play on Xbox Series-X with a Domed Extended Right Stick (medium length) on my Standard Series-X Controller using the following settings..... NO Acceleration. Look Sensitivity:- Horizontal - 9. Vertical - 10. (for some reason horizontal is slightly quicker so I set it 1 lower to match the speed to vertical) MAX Input Threshold for my Move Thumbstick. ZERO Input Threshold for my Look Thumbstick. ALL my Deadzones are set to 2, but as you all know, these are different for all controllers, basically mine are set as low as possible before I get any sort-of Stick Drift to make my Sticks as Sharp and Responsive as possible !! Auto Clamber - Off. Step Jump - On. I've actually been playing with a Domed Stick Extension for years and, like you, I swear by them as they allow me to run a High Sensitivity setting so I can Turn Around as fast as possible, by moving the stick as far as possible, while still having great control for fine aiming with small movements.....Best of both !! I've also never been a fan of Aim Acceleration as I rather not have to learn the speed curve, that's why I play with a stick extension and high sensitivity as it gives ME full control instead of relying on the acceleration.....If you see what I mean.....Basically, If I want to move faster, I move the stick further and vice-versa.....So I'm in Full Control !!
@TobyWanShinobi
@TobyWanShinobi 2 года назад
Nice! If you can play consistently well with these settings, that's awesome! But my initial question to most players would be to ask why you need such a high sensitivity. How often are enemies getting straight behind you and why is that happening? Sounds like lack of awareness / game sense / teamwork. Unless you are just an FFA monster haha. For games with low TTK's and first shot win gunfights like CoD, high sens makes total sense to me. But with low TTK games like Halo or Overwatch, I generally recommend going for better accuracy with tracking rather than the advantage of speed flicking. I'll have to try out your settings to see what it feels like to have 0 acceleration though, maybe you are on to something here. I like the idea of completely consistent move speeds.
@fataldragon69
@fataldragon69 2 года назад
@@TobyWanShinobi Haha, Yeah, I see your point but No, it's not lack of awareness or anything like that, it's simply as I said.....I like to have the Full Control myself and this gives me the ability to move fast IF that need arises. I do play consistantly with this set-up as usually, I'm just making smoother and smaller movements around the middle of the Stick, which is where the benefit of the Extended Stick comes-in to it. Playing without any Acceleration just feels a lot more accurate to me.....Like I said, I'm in control and don't have to learn the speed boost/curve which can throw me off target sometimes, if you see what I mean !? Have a try, see what you think, it takes a little bit of getting used to, especially if you're used to playing the other way but anything new takes time to adjust to.....The High Sensitivity replaces the Acceleration thus giving me the control rather than the game doing it for me and having to get used to when the acceleration kicks-in.....That was my thoughts when I first played about with my settings and I play all my FPS games with settings like this and it's been serving me well ever since !! You never know, it might just help you as well, I hope it does, even if it's only a bit of it that helps.....Let me know how you get on, Enjoy !!

Now that im told what the setting do, i went back and fiddled with things. Spoilers i still like the settings i found for myself. In short, look acceleration was too strong and it needed a nerf. Stretching and massaging is an underrated tip. Appreciate that one. Goal: win duels but keep a speed that will let me glance down a lane (90-180 turns shouldnt take a generation) Im not 100% accurate, but default deadzones and 6 sens felt inconsistant. Itd be slow for traversing the map and too fast to track a player mid duel. Felt that look acceleration was at fault, and i do like a smooth, universal turn. Current right stick settings: sensitivity ~7.5/ acceleration 4 Center deadzone 2.5, axial deadzone 0.5 Max input threshold 11. Lets pretend the analog socket is the size of a quarter. When looking for a target, ill stay in a nickels radius, in a gunfight, a dimes radius; micro adjustments. When i want to turn a corner, ill slap that stick to the wall and let look acceleration kick in. Aiming is something you need to get dirty with first hand. But the golden rule is you need to be comfy with it. It blows my mind i found my control by turning up the sensitivity. But yeah, 6 was too slow, so i would over adjust, but then acceleration kicked in and REALLY over adjusted. Felt like struggling against being drunk. I dont know if this is how youre supposed to move acceleration closer to the walls, but that was my issue. Good luck gamers. Frag out!
@Zlykin
@Zlykin 2 года назад
(Sorry for the string of comments) Max input threshold is wierd and i still had it backwards. Lower that number to move acceleration closer to the walls. The inner radius will be more consistant. I dont know why 11 felt better for what i was trying, but it did for me. However, i can confirm that max threshold at 0~2 put acceleration right at the walls. (This only reinforces the fact you should find what suits you, and academy mode is your friend)

Great channel, I dig the unconventional advice! Quick question though (not related to aiming specifically), but: Do you have any advise for helping one to develop better "game sense"? I know this is an open-ended question but I'm struggling with this. I play with a buddy and we roughly started at the same time, but he is significantly better than I am. For context, I'm pretty bad (I straddle between Gold 6 and Plat 1) and my buddy is already working into mid-diamond. The thing is that my shot accuracy tends to actually match or even exceed his yet he absolutely destroys me skill-wise so I don't think it's an aiming issue. I tend to always feel like I'm being broad-sided, or always getting shot from behind, and I'm always taking more damage than I deal. I try to slow down and take my time, making sure to not "Rambo" into situations, but I feel like I'm constantly being outplayed. Is this something that can be worked on? Is developing better game sense something that just develops with time, or is it something that will come really natural to some people but completely escape others? (ie, maybe I'm just dumb, haha). Thanks!

Check out my VOD review coming out tomorrow. I think it might help! Definitely something that comes with reps, but also if you are playing "with intention" it is going to come a lot quicker. You need to know where you are messing up and then work on that. Take a deeeeeep analysis of your gameplay. Literally watching 10 second chunks of your play over and I've and ask yourself why you are doing that and if could have made a better decision. Yes is almost always the answer... tomorrow's vid should be a good example of what I mean.

Being a original Halo 2 and 3 player, left stick aiming is non existing now in my gameplay!! But returning from COD, left stick aiming is consistently thrown as if its law and then you say right stick aiming is the x factor that separates the good from the great. Would you mind going into further detail on this, if possible of course?? Halo is all about Tracking and Flicking (fact) but it's confusing the community in numerous ways....
@TobyWanShinobi
@TobyWanShinobi 2 года назад
Left stick aiming is used mostly for tracking players, i.e 1v1 tracking player strafe back and forth. Right stick aiming is what is going to determine how quickly you lock onto a target (get the first shot). The skill cap for Left stick aiming sort of plateaus at a certain point, its not that hard to match an opponents moves with left and right movement... but right stick aiming is where you make the fine adjustments and the flicks onto targets quickly, usually without aim assist - so there is a lot to master.
@D_Vice88
@D_Vice88 2 года назад
the secret is most Halo Infinite guns actually suck without aim assist most guns don't work without being close enough for aim assist to work.. you can try but spamming the trigger pretty much means no headshots without aim assist but not spamming the trigger means being too slow so... pretty much every gun is at a vast disadvantage if the other gun is a BR or stalker or scoped longer range weapon the commando and pistol are a huge disappointment outside of aim assist range and i pretty much dont trust anything but BR and stalker

This video just made me question if Humanity is even understanding how to play Halo, but everyone has their own ideas. The best method of how to improve aiming in Halo: Improve your movement. Your movement dictates how you aim; And that goes for both inputs. No amount of accessories, tracing guides, or "aim trainers" can fix bad playstyles, movement, guidelines or understanding. you don't need to "perfect" every kill in Halo, you just need to put a bunch of damage on the board. Key pillars of competitive Halo: - Damage - Assists - Helping aid teammates - Decision making - Awareness Not in a particular order, although awareness and decision making separate an average player from someone that can place high in a competitive environment (Tournament). To this; 'accuracy and aiming' is near, to next to, not important. If you're having trouble landing shots or aiming, understand the following: - Every weapon in Halo is projectile; Aside from the newly introduced shock weapons. Every weapon has travel speed; Halo Infinite's weapons are similarly to Halo 2's, where you generally have to lead out of red-reticle range. (No, not Halo 3 lead. That's due to the game having random bullet spread, slow moving bullets, and heavy bullet magnetism) - Understand positioning is the biggest factor into winning a battle. Cutting angles so you aren't getting 'team shot' by the enemy is crucial, along with being able to get out of a situation if you're losing the battle or you're challenging someone that has an advantage on you. Moreover; making a good decision after this dictates the difference between 'winning the battle' and losing it. You can rechallenge, but knowing (in that situational moment) when to rechallenge is crucial. just ego-challenging everything is a methodology for highly skilled players, but it cannot be in practice by just anyone; You have to be confident in your shot and that you'll win that battle. Otherwise, it's just a death that could have been avoided. - Movement has ALWAYS been a key pillar to Halo's accuracy. A strafe is only as deadly as the user doing it, just jiggling your thumbstick or keyboard left-right isn't going to do anything, like Halo 2, you need to have some semblance of understanding here. In Halo 5, many people acquired a unique method of strafing (due to the easy weapon usage in that title) that countered aim assists; It was coined 'crowd strafe'. Introducing crowd strafing with a more sophisticated side-by-side strafe does wonders in an open-region battle. However, these maps aren't open. There's regions to cut angles, cover, and challenge in different areas. Knowing when to slide, how to get to a situation fast, how to get out of a situation fast, and when to fire is crucial. Understanding and grasping movement tech within Halo Infinite is how you win fights, not simply by 'getting better tracking'. This isn't counterstrike. TTK, especially in ranked, is decently high with the starting weapon (1.55s perfect). You'll need to actually 'know' how to play the game, not just have quick reflexes and accuracy. - Awareness isn't entirely on accuracy, but it's the ability to know where enemies and your teammates are, where players, weapons and equipment will be spawning (and when), and knowing what areas are dangerous to push, and what are good to push. Awareness is the key component, next to movement, to understand 'how to win fights', in this game, as you can't just push an area where there's someone already with a teammate ready to shoot you. You have to understand proper regions to push to control spawns, weapons, and ultimately the map in order to do damage. Lastly. If you're playing Halo like it's a solo-game, and you're in a team-based playlist, you're playing the wrong game. This is a team game on purpose, you have to work as a team to win. No amount of 'input balancing' can fix bad decision making, awareness, poor damage output, or inability to understand how to play the game. Most scenarios where people say "keyboard and mouse isn't viable compared to a controller" have to do with the keyboard and mouse player making a bad play, and blaming 'aim assist' instead of their own fault. It'll happen the same exact way on a controller. "assists" aren't the reason why they won the battle; It was ultimately how that person got averaged at that time span. And yes. Got averaged. Their death in that scenario was an easy kill due to them having absolutely no awareness, knowledge, and had poor decision making skills. That's why the player on keyboard and mouse died in 99% of scenarios, not aim assist. There's a multitude of Halo pro's and AM's out there right now that could "Swap to keyboard and mouse" and place the exact same verse a controller. The reason why didn't and do not is actually less relevant to 'aim assist'. You don't have variable movement speed. Movement, like mentioned above, is the KEY FACTOR for playing this game. Always has been, since CE all the way up. From how you jump onto regions, to stutter stepping, to slow waking, to difference in strafing and mechanical remembrance of countering the other players aim; The reason a controller player has an advantage in Halo isn't accuracy due to 'aim assist'. It's the versatility of the thumbstick for moving. Unless, of course, you're just playing swat. Then it'll be 'aim assist'. Gladly, competitive Halo doesn't take the easiest form of the game and call it 'competitive'. Also 3:00, Nearly 90% of the professional players in the top 16 are using default Xbox One S, or Xbox Series controllers. Using a "special controller" has zero advantage....other than mapping 'drop weapon' to a paddle. So there's that. Until it gets removed or GA'd (Gentlemen's agreement not to use it since 343 is paying too much attention to people like MintBlintz, and others, critiques on BTB and social playlists, as if 99% of the playerbase hasn't vocally stated so far that 'no one cares about social halo') in comp.

The way I’d approach a video of someone who’s trying to help the community is remember we all start somewhere if the entire community had an overall higher consistent accuracy then we go to teaching then how to become more efficient with their movement some have great movement and decision making such as backing down when they are low but if the enemy rechalls and you still can’t hit the target than they might as just died in the fight instead of trying to out strategize and I say this to you are definitely correct that what you said is important the way I think about it is you don’t teach a baby how to run right away because it’s the more efficient in clearing distance

After 800 hours of playing it feels like I’m losing skill

I would imagine that because the population has become smaller in Halo, only the hardcore fans are continuing to play... therefore matches in general are going to be sweatier. If you want to improve, re-watch your games frame-by-frame and continue to ask yourself how you could be making better decisions, etc. I have found that reviewing my own gameplay in this way makes a big difference. But you really gotta slow it down and take it second by second. Hope that helps! If you feel like your aim is slipping, try my Halo aim drill...

I believe that we all have two styles of play one when we know the enemy is on a higher level we use more strategy to win the fight and when we feel they will get flustered we attack it with skill so just soaring the challenge cause we are going off, for me if I’m not constantly playing those that are better than myself I take that skill path and just try to out skill every fight which makes me feel like I’m going downhill and remember my approach is determined by the enemy we have all had the same experience when the other team let you do things that should’ve killed you ten times over

My name is TobyWanShinobi After the release of Halo 5 I made a promise to my father to save this community. But in order to do that I had to become someone else. I had to become something else. I am the Green Gamer.

@@TobyWanShinobi I've been having a hell of a time with this aiming system. Do you happen to know the mechanic responsible for sensitivity specifically within the aim assist box? Sometimes once the aim assist kicks in for me, I'm trying to make a micro adjustment to track someone and I'm putting in the slightest input and the movement isn't quick enough or literally just won't respond to my input but once I'm off the target, the exact same input registers fine. Is the mechanic look accel, max input look, or sensitivity? I can't seem to figure it out.

@@iiDefied what is your acceleration set to? And how about your maximum input threshold?
@iiDefied
@iiDefied 2 года назад
@@TobyWanShinobi well I have the spazzy right thumb problem of having large hands so accidentally ram the stick to the wall and jerk the reticle often. I set the threshold to zero and even got a kontrol freek to combat it but then it feels like I don't have enough micro adjustments so everything is very herkey jerkey.

@@TobyWanShinobi I have been trying everything on look accel from 2-4.

Yeah dawg, on RU-vid 😆. Checkout my aim drills. That is pretty much what I'd put people on, alongside focus on crosshair positioning.
