Learn from the Pro's how to improve your ballroom frame with these three easy-to-follow steps!
There's so much to learn when it comes to the frame or "the hold" , and it can certainly feel quite overwhelming at times. After all, its one thing to know what it's supposed to look like and another to be able to replicate it yourself and look amazing. That's where this video comes in handy 😊
This is a follow up lesson on the ballroom frame. If you haven't seen it yet, we highly recommend you watch the first video too so have more details and a little context for this video. You can find it at following link:
"How to take the perfect ballroom hold with your partner"
• How to take the perfec...
So what are these 3 simple steps?
1. For the man. Be aware of the angles that you create not just from elbow to elbow but also in your hands, particularly that left one. We discuss how to present your hand properly to the lady and how to style it so that it enhances your perfect, "slick" top line.
2. For the woman. Your frame extends far beyond your arms, and most importantly includes the position of your head. Talysa will walk you through exactly how to place and position your head to create that stunning look which will complete the partnership's top line and see your results improve most noticeably.
3. For the couple. It is absolutely essential that you learn how to accomodate your partner with your frame whilst not detracting from your own look. We will teach you how to angle your body to better fit with your partner, all with a simple rotation of the body and an elegant presentation of the left side of your body.
Make sure you watch until the end as we'll taking up hold many times, showing you the correct methods for creating your frame as well as showing you a few of the common mistakes you might be making.

I really enjoyed the bit about the lead's left hand, and it's markedly different from the way it was done in the past. As recently as the 1990's they were still rotating their wrists in a bit (what I call "monkey paw"). Anyway, nice vid and keep up the good work. BTW, I'm on the east coast of the U.S. and my teacher's also from Sydney. Cheers.

Hey Doug thanks for the comment and the positive feedback 😊 You’re absolutely right, the angles in the frame have changed over time. Even from the 90’s. Just out of curiosity who is your Aussie teacher?

I beg to differ on the position of the lady's head; the "incorrect" way presented here is much closer to where it belongs than what is presented as "correct" (i.e. backweighted). And the same is true for the "square" position. Obviously these "adjustments" serve no purpose other than creating an artificial look which is highly detrimental to balance, and therefore to movement and timing control. It suffices to compare some dancing of the 1980-2000 era to today's to realize how damaging these ideas have been for ballroom dancing.
@pseto3883
@pseto3883 2 года назад
That's because you understand it incorrectly - spine is vertical, not back bending/backweighted as beginners think. Compare the stretching, balancing & position to the poses in yoga and check out healthy spine care. You'll have pain when you do it wrong, even with ordinary daily life activities. I''m amazed at the wisdom of these professional ballroom and latin dancers who are way ahead in these aspects.
@pseto3883
@pseto3883 2 года назад
Just a few examples - are you keeping your chest and neck in a straight line as an extension from your vertical spine, or are you bending your neck when you look above to the sky to watch the stars? Are you bending your hip joints, or are you bending your waist to reach your toes? Are you keeping your forearm & hand in a straight line, or are you bending your wrist when you're typewriting? Countless daily activities can cause pain when you don't do it correctly - same goes with ballroom dancing.
@trentkosciolek2992
@trentkosciolek2992 Год назад
What do you prefer about the dancing of the 1980s and 90s compared to today? Smaller, tighter frames? Less speed, power and movement? Smaller, less dynamic shapes? Ballroom technique has improved and grown by leaps and bounds for the better since the 1990s, this is just one of the ways not being bound by the old way of thinking has unlocked massive potential for shape, movement, speed, power, dynamic and control. Good job JT, love your videos! 💃
