Changing out the front brake pads on your Yamaha YZF-R3 for performance pads is one of the best mods you can do. It usually costs less than $70, takes about 15 minutes, and doesn’t require a lot of tools.
Tools Needed:
Torque Wrench - amzn.to/2WpVoqH
Torx T50 Socket - amzn.to/3h0GKjd (or rent for free from a local auto store)

How much does just replacing the brake pads improve the feel of the brakes ? Does it need something more like brake lines or a different type of oil in the brake reservoir?

Only did the pads, no new lines or fluid, my bike only had like 900 miles on it when I did them. After breaking them in, they are significantly better and well worth the $70 👌

I’m in Austin. I kinda got used to them after a bit but definitely noticed the change after the pads were broken in.

I think wrong choice of pads unless you're doing track runs. Ceramics stop as well or better without destroying the rotors.. IMO for heat the big payoff is with racing fluid, that stops fading. Blessings of the Populist State upon you.
