In this video I share a Sketchbook Training routine / method to improve your drawing skill. I would not recomment this if you are a complete beginner. It worked very good for me but does not mean it works for you, just give it a try :)

Funnily, I had a teacher able to draw like this super accuratly... He was able to project measure on the paper, by pointing with the tip of his pen, without actually touching the paper, just training to visualize things : negative shapes, lenght comparison, diagonal, perspective... This for 5 to 10 min straight, without drawing, just forging the mental image. When he had a clear synthetic vision on his mind and foreseen on the paper (using the size of the page, the aligment with other drawing, anything as marking point really), then... then he just draw and it was like magic. I never understood why he didn't sketch previously, apparently a sketch was "too constraining" or something like that... :') wish I could do as he did, sadly I need my pen "marks"

Wow thanks for sharing this cool story. 🙏⭐️ the thing with this is there is probably a lot of frustration in the beginning by trying this. I had it myself and for some people this approach is just not the right thing. This is also why I believe if you make this approach a routine it can really change something in the way you draw things. But never the less as you said it, just because it worked for your teacher it doesn’t need to work for you. Same here I do these videos with knowing it won’t help the majority, but if it helps only a few it’s already worth it 😊☀️ thanks for your comment

@@Janos.ArtzoneWell, my teacher has something many people forget... and I struggle to learn it as well : patience. He was "not fun" compared to other teachers because everything, everytime was around "wait, before you put this line on the paper, did you take your time to choose what it represent ?", or other advises like "take the time to measure and understand". Student didn't cared and rushed to drawing, but the results were weak and even adding plenty of effects couldn't hide the "lack of weight" or the "inbalance" in the final... "We" think our brain had memorized the image, when in fact it didn't, that's what he tried to pass to us, that we have to really "look" to get the structure, not just the surface (even if he used shapes a lot to make his mental image). Frustration happen when we don't understand what and why it's going wrong. Sure this type of exercise isn't good "as is" for beginner, but there is a lot of interesting things going on that are definitly worth trying. You actually inspired me to give this kind of drawing another shot. Maybe since years had pass I will be better at it 😅

@@Janos.ArtzoneI managed to squizz a few attempt in my crowded agenda and must say it's indeed very very dificult to start it. After getting over the frustration and even if result is incomplete (loose concentration too quick) I had a very nice improvement with the models having better 3d "projection" and understanding of their spatial placement. Also, it's a damn good exercise to get a sharp focus 😅 to the point even music is too distracting. Will see how far it push the boundaries in a few more months

I consider myself a beginner and I tried this. This was reaaally hard but I want to say also eye opening ! I can see that this routine works for me over a longer period of practicing. Really great tips you give in this video and I also want to say I love the thinking impulses you give between the lines. GREAT VIDEO !!!!

thanks for sharing, been needing some ideas of what to push in my drawings, one thing that came to mind about turning the form is in drawing from life sometimes the person moves around alot and so you have to interpret a bit from imagination

Hey happy you like it ! Yeah it is challenging but I also feel we don’t train our imagination enough 🙂 I always give my students at least one task where they need to use their imagination

I really wanna draw mangaka style of art but I tend to make myself struggle because drawing humans parts are one of the best struggling methods but as for background and hands oh shit I never tried practicing it that much
@Janos.Artzone

Most things just take time. But as u said if u tried to practice it separately then this is a good way to approach it. Manga is something that takes a lot of effort in the beginning.

@@Janos.Artzone I mean really to me I was practicing how to draw a literal human but now I have to focus on separating them because mixing them together makes it more worser

@@faizamohamed-m8x is it a problem of placing in 3d space or figure in general ?
