Of all the videos that you have posted so far Marcel, this one easily makes it in my top 5. I often see myself jumping around between portrait and figure drawing. This can explain why I feel like I am not really progressing as fast as I want to. Thanks for the video Marcel, now I know what to do.

I've been drawing for a few years now but I lost count of how many times I felt depressed because I thought my art was crap, but your tutorials have helped me immensely and near the end of this video I lowkey started to tear up. Now I can confidently say that my art is good enough that they only give my victims migraines instead of making them spontaneously combust, like a Sir!

I was kind of aware of the concepts in this video before watching it, but the way you put it really made me consciously aware of it, and it ended up being really motivating! I struggle with bein overly self-critical a lot and I just have to remind myself to not be discouraged by certain shortcomings, but rather motivated! Definitely earned a new sub :)

I love your videos, your hard work on editing, the animation for us to make it even better to understand what you do, is just unbelievable. I drew since I was a child, I've watched all of your videos dozens of times, really. I don't even now how many times. I don't speak the language German, but I watched those videos as well on your German channel. Learned so much because of your videos. When I watched your tutorials, of course there were some which doesn't work out for me. Then I practiced, a lot. I replayed the video again, and again. I tried to learn everything you teach in your videos, sometimes with sweating blood, but at the end, i did it. You were/And still you're my motivation to start making/to make my own Manga. It's been 6 months since I started working on it because of you. Even my profile picture on RU-vid is my own creation. I learned how to draw bodies, how to shade, how to make your own poses, how to draw hair, how to draw clothes creases, how to ink, and how to crosshatch. Everything I learned thanks to you. All of that in manga style, because of your teachings. I Just bought my Digital Artist Pen about 2 weeks ago, and your video about digital art helped me as well as the other traditional drawing videos. Your channel is an open libary for me/us to learn anything what drawing is. Im not sure about you know how much you helped not just me, im brave to say, everybody who wants to learn to draw. The drawing skills I learned from you helped me in my darker, sadder times, until today. Drawing is a wonderful thing. I learned a lot of things. I'm very thankful to you. I cannot thank you enough for the amount of motivation, help, and strength I received from you. From my heart, I would like to say.. Thank you.✒🤍

Thank you so much for taking the time to make a video for other artists. I also like to draw anime so to see someone not only do art but also within my own art style genre is amazing and very encouraging\inspiring! this is the video i needed to see. i've made some things i'm quite proud of in terms of colors, lighting/shading and such, but i nearly break down in tears whenever i envision a line and my hand completely misses it. you're right in the point that having weak suits doesn't make you a bad artist, and that realizing that isn't as obvious as it seems. thank you.

Okay here is some tips to improve I'm probably gotta list that you have heard before or draw like a sir said. 1. Practice the thing you're not good at, for example hands , atonomy and pose's this are the things Im not good at and I practice them and I'm getting a little better. 2. Look at references to draw, it's not cheating it's pretty normal to the art community to look at references and learn from them 3. Don't compare yourself with other artist, don't do that because you're just lowering you're confidence and probably having an unrealistic goals, you're not gonna get good overnight it takes time and hardwork to get where you want to be. 4. Simplify things, just simplify things I simplify my eyes because I hate drawing eyes so I just add to lines and a circle in-between. Okay I hope this works just keep practicing until you get what you wanted (btw I didn't watch the video so I probably listing some of the things sir said.)

At some point more than a decade ago I stopped drawing or painting people or anything except for landscapes and architecture in watercolor to practice my coloring. At some point I started introducing idols into the landscapes to have some sort of characters. In the meantime I practiced drawing plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures. At some point I felt that I could combine the two skills and my very first portrait in watercolor amazed me. Since then, I started painting more complex scenes, some better than others, but my stylization skills are still at zero as they were to begin with.

I'm a blossoming 3D animator/modeler and I find this to be relevant even in my field. I feel the concepts you cover for drawing can easily be tailored for 3D artwork as well. Anatomy, characters, creatures, realistic, styled, inorganic, organic, and even the different aspects of 3D like, I'm more comfortable with animation over modeling. There's also lighting and environment design, composition and compositing. I only recently started to focus more on my weaknesses like modeling characters to try to round out my skills to make myself a more flexible artist but it's certainly not easy! Entirely worth it though. Excellent topic, great video. 🙂

I don't know how I managed this, but I started getting bad at things I have years of experience with. and it's not just my expectations getting higher than what I can actually achieve, I like parts of my old art more than what I do now. I envy people that can make their sketches in relatively short periods of times, because I sit at a sketch even for hours and still not like the outcome. Now I know, everyone does things differently and it doesn't matter how long I take, but I am an impatient perfectionist and struggling with a stupid sketch for hours makes me frustrated to the point I don't even finish most of my arts, which lead me to a burnout and I've been struggling with drawing for about 5 months now. I've tried many ways to overcome it, but none help. I decided it will be best for me to take a step away from art for a while completely, because it's been really exhausting to fight my perfectionism. I hope to get back to art, it was one of the only things that made me genuinely happy. Thank you for these videos by the way, they are very helpful!
