Looking forwards to your desert trip. It was a good tip mentioning practice for keeping the muscle memory flowing. I live in a northern region and we have dark drab winters, so getting back in the groove always results in a bit of mental overload.
It's actually kind of abnormally warm really. Though we do sometimes have winters like this. We had a week of 10F and now it's 45/35 for the next 2 weeks, which is great. We're 300 miles from the Pacific Ocean which has a mitigating affect on our weather. It all depends on what the stream is like overhead. Portland which is only about 60 miles from the ocean is usually 45/35 all winter, and raining all the time.
Here in south France the same but Mediterranean near the coast is always been mitigated. Anyway I hope you can get to the desert, I want to see. Don’t forget to show on maps.. :) happy Monday
Weather forecasters deal in probabilities, Ed. That usually doesn’t come through in the broadcast media, but in Australia, the official forecasts always give you a probability so you can at least take an informed risk. I’d say go if there’s a good chance of appropriate weather and make what you can of it if it doesn’t go the way you’d like.
Great advice. You have nudged me into packing up my Pentax K-1, the 28-105 kit lens and my new DFA 21mm Limited. There’s a covered bridge about 5 miles away over the N.Y. border into Vermont. Thanks for the inspiration!
