Yours is by far the best video. You made it so clear and slowly let us visualize each step. You must me a trainer or manage people or a teacher. You have an excellent way of teaching. That is quite a gift you have, along with creating a gorgeous pot. Today I also bought a jar of river rock to add to my light like you used sea shells. This river rock is small but a beautiful assortment of rock colors that is beautiful with the terracotta. Another youtube guy bought little clay roses, leaves and stems, then painted them in vibrant colors and glued them onto the outside of his pot. Then he painted along the side musical notes like you see in a music book. Quite a beautiful idea and he was meticulous about his work. Thanks for the great presentation. I am still hoping the Lord will help me get this done like yours so I get more heat out of mine. Thanks again. Penney in kansas
The pot holder clips look a bit like purpose built pergola brackets one can buy from a local hardware store here in Crete. You have given me some ideas thanks!
Wow, very nice!!! Perfect for van life!!!! Fyi....crisco oil was originally made to burn 🔥...hence, the little flame on the can.......would/could I buy one from you? Great job!!!!
I like your design. Only difference I would consider is to make a wooden base a bit wider for even more stability. (I have cats.) When it's not being used, it could still be tipped over and broken by misadventure. But your intent to make something aesthetically pleasing is really nice.
Thanks, Wise Woman! You're right, it is a bit top heavy. If you appreciate aesthetically pleasing projects, check out some of my other videos. A candle puts out heat that can be measured in BTU's. A clay pot does not increase the BTU"s of the candle. The heated air rises to the ceiling. The clay pot will radiate the heat to some degree, but the warm air still rises just like using only a candle. My ceiling temperature did not increase after 6 days on continuous burning. It takes many more BTU's to heat the air in a room down to an "altitude" the you can feel. It's fine for warming your hands or maybe closet.
In an emergency situation the last thing you want to do is waste energy trying to heat a room using a convection heater! What he has actually created is a RADIENT heater - the walls of the pot pick up the heat and then radiate it out as you would discover by taking heat measurments of the pot wall and your ceiling. Naturally given the very low energy input the level of heat output will also be low but it will be enough to heat your hands/feet, etc. If you switched to cleaner fuels (eg methadone) and used carbon felt for the wick you could then place a mantle of fine steel mesh over the flame and place a metal reflecter shaped into an arc behind it you would then have a clean and very efficient heating unit!
This is great, but in an emergency, the base and the candle with wick may not be a handy item you already have. I do love this though. Great idea! Very creative.
you all prolly dont care but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Kieran Tripp i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Great video, thanks for posting. Are they ok to use over and over continuously with new candles, or do you have let the pot cool down after a certain length of time?
Interesting concept, the only change I would make is to have a personal fan gently blowing air onto the terracotta or a handheld bellows system I toyed with a cheap alternative and scorched a Formica topped vanity by NOT properly ventilating the system.. That interior pot gets EXTREMELY hot and can re-direct the heat back at the source..Using a fan can cool off the hot outer surface
@@penbiz6744 I saw a system involving a HVAC elbow sitting on top of the outer pot with a personal fan built into the outlet.. Much more efficient.. It draws the air faster between the two pots than a normal convection process.. but it can cool the inner pot quicker as well..
That'ds the samereadson That's why you see oil lamps in movies and cartoons with a long neck, and a hole on the top of the body: so you can leave the flame burning as you add oil to the bowl! You still have to be careful though. for the metal supports, just study the video image carefully on a PC screen- not on a phone!
Ventilation is always important when using any kind of combustion. In a large room it might not be much of a problem unless it's closed off with more of these units.
19900 Btu's per pound of parrafin fuel. It burns slowly, maybe a quarter pound of fuel per 24 hours. Thus, it's not good for heating your home, but can be effective at providing some warmth in small spaces.
@@wattage2007 Incorrect. Energy capture is a critical part of energy transfer and that is how a stove cooks and a water heater makes hot water. Using your logic, a log inside a fireplace is no better at directing heat than a log burning on your garage floor. A candle by itself dissipates much of its energy inside a 3-4 inch area around the candle, so how is that energy useful to anyone except for the light it emits? The clay pot is a method of energy capture, and when that energy is redirected, it becomes useful as radiant (infrared) heat.
If I had a production facility and could source all the parts, yes. But most of these parts were repurposed, so it is not possible unless I put some serious effort into it. I'd basically have to quit my job and do this full time to make them available at 50$.
Really Like!! Do you have the link to the glass wick holder that you mentioned. I don't see it here in the description as mentioned in the video. Thanks for sharing!
Sorry that link is dead so I removed it. Try searching Google for glass wick holder, I'm sure you'll find some applicable search results. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I know these can become very dangerous using the wax tealight candles as the heat source , the wax can catch fire! I think this method , using an enclosed oil lamp, would be much safer!
The majority of people show how to do this type of heater if the power goes out. As far as I know, they do not put a link down that one buys their stuff as this person has done. I think these people who are preppers help each other out by giving others information. But this guy wants you all to buy his stuff which is shallow he is only to help himself out and that is selfish. No one needs a glass jar and all this other stuff, take heed of what the preppers are doing.
