This video came from my email "ihaveaguitarquestion@gmail.com. Many people voiced the question of knowing the pentatonic scale but sounding blocky or non melodic. Here are three simple tips to learn how to solo and flow better using a pentaotnic scale.
🌟Hey Patrons! Here are your practice sessions! 18 minutes of bonus sessions. We go over the A minor pentatonic with some exercises and mindsets to make you flow better. We practice the 1 2 punch endings and we do the entire thing in Major with a new shape. Backing tracks included. Hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone. If you need help knowing the boxes or learning more about the pentatonic scale. Watch my Pentatonic Mastery Playlist. It has a LOT of good stuff in there. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zb1HVEyy2S4.htmlsi=TdvYEVQN_iZwiHzu

That blocky sound is so relatable. Just tried the 3 string flourish end technique and it was worlds apart. Also watched Brian May talking about soloing and he said that he works out solos in his mind and then tries recreate them because the fingers are prone to repetition when improvising (I’m paraphrasing but you get the idea). Also great advice for soloing. Cheers Stich.

Great tips. My soloing sounded like the "knowing the box" section for a long time. What helped me break out of that and actually play the pentatonic musically was listening to songs I liked, with a certain amount of jamming or soloing, listening for the key, and then playing the pentatonic along with the song. This helped a lot more than using backing tracks, which is what I was practicing with before. After a short while of doing this the boxes started connecting and so did the phrasing/melodies, etc., and I started to gain the "ear skills" to kind of copy what I was hearing. I'd also add that learning the major scale through and through super jumped my pentatonic playing as well, just being able to hear and play those "classic" intervals really added to my pentatonic playing as learning the major scale somehow made my playing (and ear) much more melodic. I'll also add that learning the notes on the B string is super important to this kind of playing! This was years ago but it was definitely a few year long hurdle - good topic for a video!
@trentasaurus
@trentasaurus 3 месяца назад
When you played along with songs, were you mimicking exactly, as close as possible to the guitar parts with only pentatonics? Or playing more loosely
@pevsfreedom
@pevsfreedom 3 месяца назад
@saurus Typically when I was starting that out I would just try to get the key by ear (or look it up if I had to), then play the pentatonic rather loosely in an improv fashion. As I got better doing this I'd start hearing and replicating some riffs or licks or whatever, then add onto them. Now it's just all whatever, I play my own thing or copy certain parts or act as a 2nd lead if I want - just whatever happens is good. It's a lot of fun IMO and makes me feel connected in a way to songs I love. I'm much more of an improv player than a jukebox so I enjoy the loose jam thing and working on my ear/playing with the song. If I'm trying to mimick exactly it's in a much more transcribing fashion "sit down and write down the notes" experience, which I very rarely do.

I love planes... In March 2008 I landed at Heathrow U.K. bound for Manchester. Our flight out was delayed due to a medical emergency. Had to wait almost 5 hours, they assigned another plane. Consequently I watched out the massive windows in the terminal watching the planes land. I could see in the distance plane after plane coming in. This particular day, the brand new A380 arrived at Heathrow on its maiden flight from Singapore. I was totally enjoying myself. I could stand there all day. I must say I was mildly disappointed when they announced our flight to Manchester was ready to board! So I know what saying about watching aircraft come and go. I love your tutorials as I am a player also (always learning) Good Stuff!

Excellent! It feels a bit like an issue about timing (based on the first awkward example of playing "boxy") The beauty of the scales, and Stich Method is that you rarely hit an off note and figuring out where to slide up a couple of frets or slide into a scale really opens it up. When you find a groove, enjoy it. Then find another one.

I watched a good video on youtube explaining the difference between turbofans and turbojets. Turbo jets were surpassed by turbofans in military and general aviation. The biggest difference in the types of turbofans is the bypass air. Jet liners use high flow bypass that increases the volume of air blowing, essentially they are being propelled by the air. Military fighter jets use low bypass so they are more dependient on the hot gasses for thrust.

G'day.. thank you. The idea and tuition on getting the pentatonic to sound so much better is really appreciated, I'm about to pick up the guitar and try that out at 7;30 am on Easter Sunday... see if I can wake up the Easter bunnies.. ha ha. Regards the jet engine.. that's so cool. How much thrust does it have...? I was into jets as a kid and still watch the development of the military jets, particularly I look at the newer types and I am amazed at how they perform, with directional thrust to assist in maneuverability. I often look at the commercial jets, and I really just stare and look at how stream lined and they really are a beautiful and amazing conglomeration of engineering. thanks again these are a great help to an old guy trying to learn what he should have 50 years ago ha ha never too late. :)
