This guitar is on my bucket list. I have always fancied a 000-28. I always talk myself out of it since I already have five acoustics. Two Martins (D35 and J40). One Gibson (J45). One Taylor (314CE V). And a Breedlove (Stage - all gloss all mahogany). Can't play them all at once, but is doesn't stop me from wanting a 000-28. Nice playing Cooper!!!!!!
Hi. I’m a crappy player and acoustic addict. (AA arr) SJ, 18 mod lux, 714ce, ‘63 LGO sol mahog, Martinez (Martin from Mex)000x1A D240e, Peavey something, my very first guitar Xmas 1967 Silvertone painted pick guard with burst. Semper Fi
Love the narrower nut width…. I don’t have small hands, but played Japanese Takamines for years, and they were 1.68”… it is taking quite a while to get used to a “standard” 1.75” nut🤔
@@mcdee56 glad to help! The pro series 7s have wider nuts 1.77” nuts, but most of the rest of the Japanese built guitars are 1.68”. If you like dreadnoughts, check out the CRN-TS1… a slope shoulder 12 fret neck with a torrified top, or the Glenn Frey signature… Amazing guitars! I sold my Pro Series 4 dreadnought, and bought a RainSong carbon fiber Jumbo, ‘cause I moved to Phoenix, and didn’t want to humidify. The RainSong is great, but the 1.75” nut is still a problem after 3 months! With the Takamines, I never thought of my left hand, and could focus on my right, so my timing was good. With the 1.75” nut, I have to think about certain chord changes 😒. AND, the Takamines are second to none in quality and tone… seriously good professional instruments.
Don't let the nut width fool you on this guitar. It's really comfortable to play. I bought this guitar thinking it was 1.75 nut width. The neck profile on this and the string spacing must be based on the Eric Clapton because that guitar (which is actually 1.75) feels wider than 1.75. I played the EC and the BL side by side and couldn't put the Brooke down.. I swore I'd never buy another 1 11/16 (or a PW guitar). This is the good example of how it's not always about what the specs say, the neck profile and string spacing matter. It's a really comfortable guitar. I only found out this guitar was 1 11/16 when Acoustic Letter did a video saying they also thought it was 1.75 too.
She released her first albums here in little old new zealand before hillsong as Brooke fraser there's some more background for you you probably know.. Anyway nice guitar always wanted a 000 28 I have a d28 because I found an inexpensive 2nd hand one but no 000 28 as yet... The dream continues :)
My guess is that Brooke Fraser got married, likely to Mr. Ligertwood. Live the dream, and don't turn your nose up or thumbs down over B-stock or "minor blem" guitars. Good guitars, like good friends, are where you find them.
Man that guitar sounds great! Nice even warm tone. I have a 000-15m with a 1 11/16 nut. Although I prefer 1 and 3/4 nut width, the depth /roundness of the neck on the 000-15m makes it as comfortable as other models with the wider nut. I imagine the depth of V shape would have a similar effect with a smaller nut width.
Jason, the modified V neck profile on this guitar is very desirable. From my orginal 1956 000-18 w the orginal Martin V neck(ugh, hard to play) this neck shape allows for a most natural hold and alignment of the left hand. The girth is ergo and does not require bending of the wrist or the expansion of the grip as you play up the neck. I find this profile allows for a natural contour of my hand onto the neck. This alignment changes my touch onto the strings, on this 1 11/16" width and with this short 24.9" scale lenght.
I prefer the 1-11/16" nut and short scale but my fretting hand has several issues including broken fingers, trigger fingers and Dupuytrens disease. I like a 12-fret, but slab head not slotted because I can't see to thread a couple strings on the slotted head.
Heart says "I want that guitar!" Wallet says "Forget it!" Undoubtedly a great guitar. Unfortunately not for my budget. But I am at least as happy with my Martin GPCPA4
I own a 000-28, CEO-7 and a HD-28. I really like the modified V neck on my CEO-7 the best. I have nut sizes all the way from my Strat to my Guild F-512 12 string. only takes a few minutes to adapt. I think anyone who loves a 000-28 will love Brooks guitar. Do you think liquid metal bridge pins would make my 000-28 sound even better? I would really like your opinion before I pay $200. for a set.
I’ve heard a few people interview her and some pronounce her name differently even when she’s sitting directly across from them. She’s never corrected any of them but I believe it’s either: Li-jert-wood or Li-jer-wood. Both with the short “i” as in “it” and the “j” sound “jump”
Beautiful guitar and playing as usual Cooper. I own one of these and it's probably exactly as I would order from the custom shop. It's as nice a guitar as I have owned. A question: curious as to what kind of flatpick you used on that portion of the video.
