I'm so done with this sh*t. This is the second time I've torn my ACL and this time it's on the other knee. The extension is much harder to regain back this time. I've got a year to wait for surgery and then another year of rehab. It's extremely difficult for me to put the effort in again for this long painful process. Thanks for your info though, it's really helpful just gotta find the will to begin and go through this process again
I hope you get better I did the same had the same reoccurring problem it turns out I needed osteomy in both legs. It might be something to look into also or ask about. Good luck I understand the frustration
Best explained rehab advice I have found. My PT is too busy to explain the rationale behind exercises, but it helps tremendously when you understand WHY you're doing what you're doing. It also helps you to build on your understanding of your own body. You are providing an exceptionally valuable educational service. Thanks so much.
I have ACL and meniscus ligament tear its been 4 months and i have achieved ony 90° knee bending now after watching this vidoe it really helped me thank you sir ❤
My knee is completely straight as before It's 36th day since I had my ACL Plus meniscus surgery... My knee was not straight even on day 25 after surgery so i started praying to Jesus and i even did some Rehabilitation exercises... Now my knee is completely straight.. I know you must be thinking if Jesus is really my healer why did i have to go through a surgery in the first place... But i say there are so many things we humans don't understand... But this one thing i am sure of is Jesus lives and he is my Healer... He loves you as well... He is really just one call away.. Call to him Jesus i need your help and he will help you because he loves you..
It has been 3.5 weeks post op and I have not yet achieved full knee extension. I was just reading through an article and found out that you should be able to gain full knee extension in 3 weeks. This made me scared and i searched on internet for exercises to achieve full knee extension and I am very glad I found out your video. Thank you so much ❤️ Hopefully it is not too late for to start doing these knee extension exercises seriously to get in ideal extension 🤞🤞
@@chrisparkhouse1 I have achieved full knee extension now. Currently I am working on strengthening my quads, I a able to fire my quads while I am sleeping but not when I am standing straight. In Range of motion I almost 10 cm away from touching my heels to hamstrings.
Adwait please help..It's been 10 weeks of my surgery still ..while doing exercises my leg gets straight..but again it's bent for 4 degree..what should I do?
@@TopBoi93 3 weeks since my surgery, and I am very close to full knee extension, which is the most important goal of Phase I of recovery. I have about 80-90 degrees of ROM as well. By end of week 4, I should have full knee extension and 90. I can also walk without walker/crutches with knee brace on, though gait needs work. As for the pain, it hurts like hell throughout the first 10 days, all day. After that, pain was restricted to only when I did physio or went to bed at night. Try to wean off the painkillers early, opioid addiction is not something you want. The most irritating part for me has been the constant knee brace - I can't sleep with it. It feels like I'm being chained. I haven't had proper night's sleep for a while, now. I just doze off for 3 hour slots in the day. A lot is about managing it mentally. Can't wait till the brace is off and I walk unaided for Task 1 of this video.
Thanks for the content. I’m going through rehabilitation with my knee atm as I torn my ACL and had surgery. I’m currently 7 months now and I wake up everyday to a stiff knee and I struggle to fully straighten out my knee. I’m currently doing loads of cycling at the gym and some exercises to help with knee.
@@kaival5 well I’ve not fully recovered yet and still doing rehab 11 months after surgery. I’ve still got swelling on my knee which I’m using a hot & cold pack to reduce swelling.
@@LI-sn8xt ohh sorry to hear that I still have swelling too Any reason why you have swelling till now.? Has your surgeon discussed you regarding Scar tissue development?
This is so nicely done. I'm so afraid it'll never get straight. Had all surgery 20 years ago, always had a slight bend post PT. Now after meniscus surgery trying to train this knee to straighten 😫
Wow love this. Ive been doing a lot of it the wrong way. Too much weight on my knee would often leave me in pain trying to gain extension. Less for longer. Thanks!
😊acl surgery is rough, had mine done about 7 weeks ago, can only straighten when iced, and still have a high amount of swelling, and was told to slow down on my exercises, I was doing to much, it’s a battle, some peoples body’s are definitely different
What is preventing us from full leg extension? Is it scar tissue? Tight tendons or ligaments? What is the mechanical issue that we're trying to push through?
I had a TLKR 6 weeks ago. Doing the chair stretch almost brings tears to my eyes, even a towel under my ankle laying flat for 2-5 minutes is very hard. Do I back off or just keep at it! It si my least favorite exercise. I have 122 flexion and 4 degrees extension.
@@E3Rehab Good day. It's been 3 1/2 months since the accident happened that caused tibial plateau fracture of my left leg. My ortho doctor told me that the alignment is acceptable so we decided not to undergo surgery. I'm now allowed to put partial weight bearing with crutches. What can you advise for my leg and knee that have placed just straight with cast within 2 months and with knee immobilizer for 1 month?
A very important question: For how much time exercises for extension and flexion should be done? Cause i did the ones for the extension for like 2-3 months after surgery and it did restore completely! But after nobody told me to continue doing those and so the extension eventually came a little back and worsened. So now im struggling since some motnhs cause i domt know what should i do. Should i restart doing all these exercises? But i feel so demotivated cause i dont know when the result can stabilize!!
I am 22 and just had full acl repair, meniscus repair, and cartilage repair. Knee just gave out playing soccer pivoting too hard. I had surgery 2 and a half weeks ago and am starting PT next week. I am totally unable to bend my knee past 90 degrees, and getting it straight seems almost impossible at times. Do you think im at a decent stage in my recovery? I am getting better every day, but going bent past 90 degrees seems impossible to me and im really struggling.
@@irenemielke1713 I’m so sorry to hear!! In the last year i have changed my entire life. Injuries and setbacks are the best character builders. I went from 285 lbs to 200, I changed my diet completely and workout everyday of my life. Stretching stretching stretching. Of course I wish it never happened but I made the best of it and that’s all one can do. God bless & good luck on your journey
Had ACL surgery with a hamstring autograph 7.5 months ago. My uninvolved knee has hyperextension but I still have not achieved it in the involved knee. My PT said I would probably never gain it back. I want to train for a marathon which means a lot of running but am finding myself having knee pain even after one mile. I was discharged from PT at 5 months as I had hit my goals, and was able to run 2 miles again. But my pain persists. I frequently do exercises and stretches, icing and elevating as needed when it is swollen. I am frustrated and don’t know what to do.
I did gain full extension and also hyperextension in like 2 months doing every day 2/3 times a day exercises and going in therapy 3 times a week. But then stopped doing these daily exercises cause i thought one i achieved it i would be ok and i focused just on strengthen the muscles and the extension eventually came a little back and now i have barely a full extension. No more the hyperextension. And i feel so frustrated, i will start redoing all these exercises at least 2 times a day and see how it goes. Also often the doctor and Pt that may see you are not fully competent and they say different things from each other so in my personal experience i would say change therapists if you can until you fine the one you good with and listen to your body more than what they say if you healed. So if u feel like u still not completely fine on extension do these exercises shown on video! But consistently! At least try! Good luck
Hi i have been in a knee pain for a month by playing volleyball i twisted my knee inwards and my knee cap shifted to the left side of my left leg After i consert with a doctor he said their is no problem with the knee or the bone even so he told me to go swimming regularly and do some exercises but i haven't hade the quit tye improvement that i wanted so what should i do
I had my surgery 5 months ago. Same thing, knee kept cracking. They said its normal, seems to be your patella not moving does it. Im able to run now with no problems and the cracking seemed to become less often.
Just had surgery of condroblastoma after bend knee for and insane pain for 2 years it looks impossible for me to straighten my knee what exercises should i do?
I just had surgery a week ago and the worst thing happened yesterday. When I stood up I lost vision and orientation and as I was trying to catch myself from falling I put all of my weight on the injured knee. I don't remember anything breaking or snaping inside the knee but I've lost a week worth of progress and the knee is in alot of pain for the last 12h. Will I be fine or did I mess everything up? Edit: I had meniscus and front ACL surgery.
Many thanks for the useful ACL videos. Does the exercise at 4:00 minutes aim to straighten the knee or stretch the hamstring? I’m at Day 7 following ACL and meniscus surgery and I can’t straighten my leg fully yet. Thanks.
Aims to get the knee back to that straight position, its more to strengthen the top of your knee, by the quad. Im 7 weeks post op from complete acl and meniscus tear and its not fun to say the least but, keep at it and youll be good💪
I am 2 weeks post meniscus surgery and working on extension, when I bend my knee or walk downstairs I get electric shocks up my quad... And then a burning sensation is this normal ?!
I’ve had two ACL surgeries on my left knee and now my ROM is really bad. I was told that it is as good as it will be but I can’t even grab my foot to stretch my quad. Will these stretches help me?
Hey sooo i got surgery year ago and cuz of bad doctors and then not taking me serious phisyos i still cant walk normal and cant get my leg straight can you give me advice
Hello I want to ask one thing Is it possible to get back range of motion after 5 months of surgery as I have full range of motion while opening leg but while banding I don't get it 100 % kidny suggest me
So my right leg goes to -10 (uninvolved) and I can stretch my left knee (involved) to about -5 passively. But when I contract it I get it to about -1 tops. I’m going into my 4th week post-op, is this something I should be concerned I don’t have more extension yet?
I am 2 years out from a cyclops lesion removal surgery after an initial ACLR 3 years ago. I restored some hyperextension in my involved knee since, but I still have a deficit, and consequently my gait still does not feel normal. Is it generally safe (and yes I will ask my PT/surgeon) to follow a program like this even though I am a couple years post-surgery?
Did you hear back from your PT/surgeon? I had ACL reconstruction 15 months ago and still do not have full range, also wondering if it'd be safe to do these at home at this stage.
@@nataliacoli2604 I did ask, and yes you can get more extension back later. I managed to get another degree or so doing knee extension exercises and passive holds at home.
Hi doctor I have a question please answer..it's a request 🙏🙏 I'm 16 right now and I had a minor fracture in my knee at the age of 12-13 and I noticed it now that I can't extend that knee Fully as much of my other knee Can I perform this excercise now?? Please reply
I had ACL surgery last year I already did rehab and now I do everything on my own. But I still deal with stiffness in my knee and I walk with a slight limp at times. Do you have any tips that I can get rid of the stiffness??
Acl and meniscus surgery happen after 3months tht was infection it again they washed tht infection and they put inside antibiotic beads .. Can u tell me it will cure and again i wll work normal
Can I still be able to do these after almost 3 years? I didn’t get rehab after my knee surgery for an acl test and 2 minuscus because they said I was walking faster than they expected.
Please help. I'm 14, almost 15. I had a ACL reconstruction around 2 years ago, when I was 13. I didn't do my stretches, so I couldn't get my knee straight. I had to have another surgery where they removed the scar tissue to allow me to get it straight and put a cast on. I sleep on my side with my knees bent, so I've recently bent it again. Despite persistent tendon massages and stretches, I can't get it straight. It's been a year since I got the tissue removed. Can the tissue regenerate? I'm really scared I might need another surgery.
