As someone who just learned what a velvet spider was today, I think the two are equally adorable.

I really hate spiders but I have a jumping spider and she's wonderfull 😍 highly recommend getting one.

Generally I’m scared of most spiders. Exceptions include jumping spiders, tarantulas, orb weavers (ones with round abdomens because I don’t like the long abdomen ones), and any tiny, slow, colorful spiders I see. That last one is purely because I once found this itty bitty BRIIIGHT orange spider that was building a night web. I studied it for awhile and then checked up every night, unfortunately since it was a nighttime spider I rarely caught it building it’s web when it was bright enough to truly see the colors but thankfully being on a hill helped add a little extra light before the sun went fully down. It was at the same time I was keeping the porch light on to attract moths so let’s just say the lil thing got preeeeetty fat fast!

Hilariously videos like these are what helped slowly make me less afraid of spiders! Still mostly afraid of your basic house invaders n such buuut for the most part I’m kinda better! But trap me in a car with a spider the size of a sesame seed that isn’t a jumper or orb weaver and I’ll freak out.

I have never had an issue just rinsing the enclosure and wiping the ornaments down, which I did. You can actually resolve most mold problems by drying the enclosure a bit, but I caught it too late here. Mold spores are in everything everywhere, it’s dependent on the conditions if and how it grows

tarantula kat it’s interesting to see how different keepers work the issue and what they do to resolve it. I’m guessing environment plays a part too - eg in the U.K. the weather is very hit and miss - and generally wet a lot - well except for lockdown when we had amazing weather but couldn’t do anything 🙄🤣
