In this “Embroidery Medic” video, we are going to re-digitize a design with the goal of improving registration, lowering the stitch count, and minimizing trims.
The theory in this video will show you how to achieve these digitizing techniques and use the stitch direction of a base fill to hide connecting stitches. In this design specifically, we’ll be focusing on all the leaves in the laurel.
If you are a digitizer this step-by-step reproduction will hopefully open some doors to creating designs that are production-friendly.
Thanks for watching!

Ty soo much, John! I didn't realize that trick about running the travel stitch up to each point of the leaf. I have always struggled with how to make that look nicer. Ty, ty, ty.

I'm so grateful for all of these video lessons! I learn so much each time I watch, some I even re-watch! This one was perfect at this time, as I've been having some of these issues in one my designs that I've been working on! Thank you so much!!

Thank you so much for this John.... It just shows the difference of only having used Hatch for 30 days vs 30+ years!!! LOL I put the green down last as I tried to use it to hide all the joining stitches for the lettering and the laurel leaves. I obviously didn't include push/pull compensation and tried to digitise the laurel leaves EXACTLY as they appeared on the artwork. Note to self is that we are working with thread being stitched onto fabric. Your version is absolutely great and although I didn't experience any problems stitching the original on my Pfaff Creative 4.5, your one certainly stitched out better. Awesome and informative video!!!

Another awesome video lesson John! Are there certain times to use design carving to reduce stitch count or does it depend on the design?!

when you're doing the run stitches between the leaves and going up to the point, you always come back down from the point. why?
