Finally got a chance to get the range and complete the next step of the series. In this video we go through my results with 100gr charge using IMR White Hots. Let's see which projectile performs the best.Hope you enjoy.
I get extreme accuracy with my Optima V2 after settling on .430 Hornady 300-grain XTP bullets in plain old green sabots over 100 grains of Blackhorn 209. Enjoyed the video!
I've taken 13 large northern whitetails With Hornady SST, and imr"s, I won't ever shoot Trip 7s ever again, they should have been named triple rust pellets. As far as power belts , you could always consider using the civil war mini-balls, Not for me,13 Hits and home runs, are extremely tough to beat, I'll put 150 gr white hots and Hornady against anything currently offered on the market at this time, have a great Hunt, whatever you choose.
Yes Sir I have to agree. 150gn does seem to be more consistent. For me the ELD-X and the FTX by Hornady had awesome results. Thank you for the best wishes and for watching. As we say “Good Luck and shot straight”
Noted in a couple comments that power and presumably velocity drops off with White Hots over time, this is likely due to moisture absorbing into your pellets. I use silica gel packets in my powder containers to keep them totally dry.
I currently have each of last years pellets in an ammo can. Can't say that I put a moisture pack in there but that would be a great test. Thank you for watching
It depends on how well they loaded on the clean barrel. I have seen some that felt easier on the second shot, yes. But to compare directly to the FTX 290s it hard to say.
I have 2 packs of them. I’m waiting for my new chronograph to come in. I want to do a full dive into them. Can’t seem to find too much info on them. As soon as it gets here, which should be soon, I will be hitting the range
I've heard that the White Hots lose some power a lot quicker than T-7. Now for whats thats worth I seen it here on the tube...just wondering if you have heard anything either way as far as lasting from year to year?
Not on White Hots alone. I know that after time all of the pellets lose power but how long that take I couldn't say. I watched a video a while back were a gentlemen use "older" pellets and they velocities were slower than I'm used to seeing. That being said I tend to use up my powder for hunting and test new loads so I can't say that I have seen that personally. Thank you for watching.
I shoot two 60 grain 777 mag pellets for a total of 120 grain I would like to see a test on them bass pro has them also is the white hot clean or easier to load I only shoot thriple 777 any more 3 fffg or those 60 grain mag pellets pryrodex rust barrel way too much and black horn is just too expensive anymore if you like shoot a lot like me
Awesome bro look forward to a review of those 60 grain pellets I don't think anyone has one I know it says 2000 fps with 250 grain bullet 26 inch barrel wonder if it's true but I like those loads all I shoot
In my experience the Pyrodex shoot very similar to the Triple 7s. But in true fashion I’m willing to test that theory on camera. I will be sure to find a box of Pyrodex and let hit the range. Thank you for watching. If you haven’t yet please hit that subscribe button for us. Thank you
Not a fan of power belts. Terminal performance is also not good. The barnes bullets are really good, also shokwave bonded , and hornady do really good.
No worries. When I started the series I just went to my local Walmart and Academy Sport and pick up what was readily available. I have heard and personally had issues with Power Belt but they are so common that I had to cover them.
Don’t give up on us too soon. In addition to the Hornady and Federals you saw in this video. We also tested Barnes TEZ, Hornady ELX, and Nosler 300 grain projectiles. With plans to keep testing. What combo do you use? I would love to try them?
@@suburbanhunt3653 in my .50 Accura LR-X I have 3 loads that shoot under 1"@100 yards. I'm firing the max load of blackhorn209 at 84grs by weight, with Federal 209 primers. The Barnes 150gr Magnum MZ shoots 3/4"@100yrds, the 340gr Bore Driver ELD-X shoots 1"@100yrds, and I don't remember the group size of the 270gr Powerbelt ELR but it was under an 1". My go to is the Barnes 250 in a mag sabot, much more accurate at full power, than the regular spitfire TE-Z(1 1/2@100y) in my rifle. For Long Range (200+yards) I'm still developing the 340gr ELD-X, but am dissapointed to learn the bullets are not what was advertised. The ELD-X only have a .015 jacket, and no core lock. I need a bullet with superior terminal effect at 40-80 yards routinely and can occasionally poke 250yrds. My testing inventory; 250gr Barnes TEZ, 250gr Barnes Magnum MZ, 290 Barnes TMZ, 290 Barnes TEZ, t/c 250 Smackdown, 300 gr scorpion white lightning, 300 gr scorpion pt gold, 250 monoflex, 240/300 xtp, 270 platinum Powerbelt, 270/330 powerbelt ELR, Thors, bore driver ftx 290, Fury bonded universal 285/320, carnivore smackdown 275gr, 270gr Federal bore lock. I have several sabot wads to try, and am interested to get my hands on Magnum sub bases to protect wads during firing. I shoot loose powders now; 777, pyrodex rs select and blackhorn209. I weigh my charges and chronograph my loads.
