Imtiaz Ali is one of those rare breed of filmmakers in India that make films and in return give their audience ample food for thought. After making short films for TV, Imtiaz forayed into mainstream cinema with Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia-starrer, Socha Na Tha, which gained cult status with the youth despite being declared a dud the year it released. Imtiaz Ali went on to give Kareena Kapoor Khan her most-special role ever with Jab We Met and followed the success of JWM with a love story running parallel with the past and the present in Love Aaj Kal. Then came Rockstar and the world saw him and his film's actor, Ranbir Kapoor in a completely different light. The film's content was riveting enough to touch a chord in everyone's hearts and remains to be one of the best content-driven films of recent times. Last year's Highway was Alia Bhatt's milestone to show that she could act and her prowess was measured because of the reception of this film. Truly, if it weren't for Imtiaz Ali, there wouldn't be many firsts for any actor he has worked with. Tamasha starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone brings the current favorite couple back together and this one too is sure to be an engaging story that Imtiaz Ali is trying to tell about a man who loses himself due to societal pressures but love changes him and restores life into him.
