The powerful Monkey King, Sun Wukong, is freed by a boy named Liuer from his imprisonment by the Buddha. Despite Wukong's weakened state, he, Liuer, and a pig demon named Pigsy embark on a journey to rescue kidnapped children from trolls. Along the way, they face challenges and unveil Wukong's lost powers. In a climactic battle, Wukong breaks free from Buddha's seal, defeats the monstrous leader Hun Dun, and saves the children.
