I read a mystery book in 6 days and learned 984 words! The right way to learn vocabulary from stories through the Refold method. It's not every day that you find an interesting, suspenseful novel to keep your attention. I was so interested in the story that it only took me 6 days (instead of months!) to get through this thrilling new adventure. It had all of my favourite elements - violence, intrigue, betrayal- which made for such good conversation among friends who love these things too. And thanks to Refold and Migaku or Olly Richards and Goldlist method sentence mining through comprehensible input I picked up some new vocabulary from just reading one book -- I feel like learning languages has never been more fun and easier. Nyk & Matt vs Japan Refold method is fascinating too.
Other questions such as How often should I look up words? What should I focus on? Should I actually try to memorize words? are answered in this video: • How to Read a Novel Fa...

Hi! My name is Amiothenes and I upload videos about language learning using the most effective learning techniques to help you learn any language in the world. I have been learning languages since 2013 and ever since I was a kid, it has always been my dream to travel around the world and speak many different languages.
This involves using the mass immersion approach (MIA, AJATT, Refold, Migaku). You will find tips for learning vocabulary quickly with spaced repetition software like Anki. If you're looking for good apps that can help you learn German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and more - this channel is perfect for you!

I notice that in another video, you mention the time you use Anki daily is quite low. How do you manage to actually learn the word in Anki? with nearly 1000 words it may take quite a long to complete that one book.

For 1000 words, I learned them over time. Daily I review and study new cards in small steps.

Super detailed and amazing stuff. I remember seeing you post this on reddit a while back. I love the stuff you're promoting and the content you're making. But I'd err on the side of caution in relation to click baiting. Maybe it would have been better to say in the video that these words aren't 100% learned yet, but they've been mined and are on their way to being learned. Click bait titles are fine, everyone does them, but make sure your content clarifies these things as to not be shunned by the purists.

I'm not sure what you mean but most of the words there are quite high in frequency where I frequently see them elsewhere, in other books.

@@amiothenes I‘d be surprised if Selbsterhaltungstrieb was one of them. Sometimes the words you learn beyond the intermediate level are nonsensical to native speakers as well if there‘s no context.

@@blue-xk5dd I'm not sure that I understand. Is Selbsterhaltungstrieb not a word or it is but it makes no sense? In this context, it was meant 'survival instinct'.

It doesn't seem as though you actually learned 984 words but just added them to your Anki and that's it.
