Hey that's one of my problems too I'm trying to look for a person that will like Broadway shows and unfortunately I'm in the Detroit area so I'm out of luck
@@dankiumzed2831 because when he was a little boy he was so fascinated with her and he wanted to be with her and he thought after that he'd never see her again and gave up that hope. Then at the end of the song he realizes Anya has been Anastasia this whole time but now she's gonna go back to be with her grandmother and he still can't be with her
SMALL SPOILER BUT I SWEAR TO GOD WHEN DMITRY CALLED HER "YOUR HIGHNESS" AND BOWED TO HER AS THE LIGHTS DIMMED AND SHE HELD HER HEAD HIGH BUT KEPT EYE CONTACT I LITERALLY STARTED SOBBING
Omgggg ahhhHhHhH I loved that!!!! But omg the set transition in Once Upon a December... it legit made me laugh cry and sigh from the beauty and genius behind it
Shows the importance of a composer. Previously they had been saying "she/he" as the music would naturally lead you to believe but during the duet the music goes up the octave to the F# 4. That's why it sounds emphasized, bc the composer wanted it to.
Yeah, it sucks, but I think Dimitri bowing to her has even more meaning. That bow was the first time anyone’s shown her respect after everything that happened to her. I think that's more touching than a kiss would've been. They kiss at the end anyway!
Well it’d kinda ruin the finale then, if they did kiss than the one in song 27 wouldn’t be as powerful since at this point dmitri and anya were going to separate soon
This song is cute, but I just can't get over how much more powerful this section of the story was in the movie. Dimitri literally SAVED Anastasia's life in the movie. I get chills every time Anya recounts the boy and the wall in the movie. I just wish they had put that part in this show.
Of course, the story of Dimitri helping Anastasia escape wouldn't exactly fit with the new, more historically accurate story of the musical, but I still think they could've worked around it. Perhaps Dimitri got arrested but instead of being sent to prison, Anastasia suggest he works in the palace instead. Fast forward to the assassination, the Romanovs weren't the only ones in that cellar. A few servants loyal to the family also accompanied them to Yekaterinburg. Dimitri could be one of them, he could maybe shield Anastasia but she was already gone when he awakened so he thinks he failed to save her like in the movie and the story proceeds as normal.
HECK YEAH ONE OF MY FAVES OF THE NEW SONGS ADDED A little sad they didn't keep Dmitri's little offended "Hey!" after Anya says "Not too clean" I felt it added a little more into their relationship. How they've grown into friendly teasing and bickering, from plain annoyance. But still love it.
Katrina Miranda without the hey listening to the song when it gets to that part I imagine him barely audibly chuckling because it is at least partially true
One of the most beautiful songs Iv ever heard in a musical ever, such emotion was given during the performance, if you were to think of what happened in real life with the Russian revolution, it just brings so much more sadness to the song as it was all a beautiful dream as Anastasia died with her family and did not survive
'A parade, and a girl, and a crowd of thousands' I'm obsessed with Dimitri vocals. I looked up songs from the movie, found this and listened on repeat for way too long. I couldn't remember it in the movie so I watched the movie and realised it's not there! If they remake this needs to be there! This musical better come to Aus.
Lyrics: DMITRY It was June I was ten I still think of that day Now and then A parade And a girl And a crowd of thousands She sat straight As a queen Only eight But so proud and serene How they cheered How I stared In that crowd of thousands Then I started to run And to call out her name As the crowd on the road went wild I reached out with my hand And looked up And then she smiled The parade Traveled on With the sun in my eyes She was gone But if I were still ten In that crowd of thousands I’d find her again ANYA (spoken) You’re making me feel I was there too. DMITRY (spoken) Maybe you were. Make it part of your story. ANYA A parade DMITRY A parade ANYA Passing by DMITRY Passing by ANYA It was hot Not a cloud in the sky Then a boy Caught my eye BOTH In a crowd of thousands ANYA He was thin Not too clean There were guards But he dodged in between Yes he made himself seen In that crowd of thousands Then he called out my name And he started to run Through the sun and the heat In the crowd I tried not to smile But I smiled And then he bowed DMITRY (spoken) I didn’t tell you that. ANYA (spoken) You didn’t have to. I remember! BOTH The parade Traveled on With the sun in my eyes You were gone But I knew Even then In a crowd of thousands I’d find you again DMITRY (spoken) Your highness.
the way they harmonize is like melting butter, and you can practically hear their blank shock and the moment of disbelief as they realized she was really there
everything about this song is perfect the syllables stay the same, they’re in couplets, the back and forth part, the harmonies the harmONIES KEJDJSJHDJD
this song is quite literally perfect. the whole show is. dmitry and anya are such perfect leads, and cast so perfectly on broadway... always makes me tear up < 3 ugh love
This is the first time I've listened to this whole soundtrack and I have to go back and re listen to this song... its just AHHHHHH TO GOOD Edit: Never mind I'm going to listen to it 3 times Edit 2: Just one more time... Edit 3: I can't stop myself, someone help me. Edit 4: I think I have a serious problem. It's just to BEAUTIFUL 😭 Edit 5: I'm back. Edit 6: help
The song is beautiful, and the memory connecting the two characters made me tear up. But now that I think about it, it isn't too far fetched to "think" you remember someone bow to you. I mean, a lot of people would be bowing during the parade to the Tsar's family.
In the musical, he talked about how he never bows and that he has only ever bowed once in his whole life and how it was embarrassing and stuff. That’s why it’s so significant because she knew that it was THAT moment he bowed
Well I think it would be a bit more memorable to a little girl to see a boy around her age running after her, dodging guards and then coming to a stop to bow to her and only her. Especially if she was amused and trying to fight the smile breaking out on her face. I mean, I bet she gets bowed to a lot but that one was for her. And the encounter was already pretty memorable. I think I'd remember a cute boy running and calling my name lol, just like I'd always remember a beautiful little princess smiling at me one time.

@@leilanyx the older ones had some great songs though. Princess and the Pauper you can tell they wanted to get right since it was their first musical, cuz they nailed all of them as far as character songs go. Another good barbie movie with some solid songs is the diamond castle, but I admit that's near the end of the oldies but goodies, cuz they started trying to make original stories and lost their old charm. Swan Lake would have had something like this though easily enough, maybe rapunzel too if they'd had singing for more than their credits song. Newer ones like princess and the popstar though and video game hero there's no way I'll admit. the magic door had a couple good ones, but they were hit or miss really. Like I mentioned, the older stuff could have pulled it off, but not anymore sadly.
So I’ve never watched Anastasia the musical or movie before. But on Saturday I saw my school’s performance of it and when Dmitri mentioned seeing Anastasia I was like “really? this feels out of nowhere” But this song made everything pay off, when she mentioned him bowing I gasped. The fact Anastasia was the only Dmitri ever bowed to 🥹🥹 best song definitely
