This "race" did NOT go as i expected... it took me to my physical and emotional limits.
I wanted to quit. i wanted to be done. i didn't want to see bikes anymore...
A kick of inspiration got me out of that dark place...

The Grand Junction Off-Road has turned into one of my most favorite weekends here...

Thanks for the video! Like so many others have already said, this was such an inspiration. We've all had those days when we want to give up, but I've never been disappointed in pushing through. I can ride the same trail 3 times in a week and kill it twice, and then it kills me the 3rd time...it's just how it goes sometimes.

This was a great video! You did this with a cracked rib?! Geez!! That is no joke. I've broken a couple ribs and it hurts just doing normal breathing. Breathing hard would make me cry! You rocked this ride and kept going with all the problems along the way. You're an awesome dude!

In the end, your word sums it up. I don't give a dam what sits before you. Question? Are you finding the worst you can find in it or are you looking and finding the good in it? Maybe you can't find any good! But that does not mean it is not right there staring you in the face. The eyes you are looking through is the problem. The mental game is where the power is. I come from the other side of town and now I am speaking from real experience. Life is the greatest game ever created and I love when it gets tuff because it is a grand lesson created just for me.

Well done dude well done. u did it and you stuck it out. XC is no joke. i come from a road racing background where it was hard racing and no fun. i switched to MTB and slotted right in with XC. its like road racing but on a MTB but i was missing the MTB fun. so now i race but its more social. chat eat and laugh. again dude cudos for sticking it out. thanks for the adventure!!

Thanks dude! I actually came from road racing too 🤘🏼 but I had iron Man races in between... As well as a change in career where I'm mostly sitting in a car... 🤦‍♂️ AND throw some kids into that timeline as well 😂 I guess I'm just throwing out excuses for why I'm not 5'9" and 135lbs anymore 😆 Cheers!

I brought a crew out to gj 2 years ago and did this loop minus the starting from down town. It almost killed a buddy so I understand where you are coming from. Glad there wasnt a serious injury from all that crashing....cant wait to hear the guys on joey podcast on the excuses lol

I guess I didn't really think about how 30 miles and 4000 feet really isn't that much.... But HERE in Grand junction...at the lunch loops... I'll be absolutely COOKED at the end of a ride, look at my Strava, and it'll be under 10 miles 😂🤷‍♂️ It's brutal here...

I think if I can ever get to the point where I can do even a 10-mile race of any kind I will be happy just to finish, not care at all where I finish among the other riders. I have always wanted to have a small wall of race plates but at 41 now have 0 of them, kind of depressing but also how often do you find races that do not cater to very experienced pro-level riders. Now having left Denver and living in Boise maybe I get lucky enough to find some of those races suited for me. :)

@@TheCrashingDad it's okay I get you a 💯 it's a crashing feeling but if you can do 50 miles you can do a XC race aka Australia has really gnarly terrain so what you rode to me was a XC haha

@@sam2288ful - yeah.. you're right. "GNAR" is all relative... For this "xc" race... They chose our *mellowest trails 😂 And I guess I was comparing it to the "xc" that is flat and smooth around here lol.
