I enjoyed this one a lot. The scenes with him walking is actually relaxing. The idea of him being a lake shark is great to me. Gets into the water and never comes up for any air and just walk out. The ending was suprising, it had you on tention the whole time

If you like horrors that follow the killer through POV, then watch the remake of Maniac starring Elijah Wood. They did it better in that movie and Elijah plays pyschotic very well.

I'm very particular about my slasher movies, I just want to watch a maniac in a mask murder hot dumb people, that's it. So all the recent deconstruction/artsy stuff doesn't really do it for me. This one looked amazing and Johnny is a fantastic killer with some truly great kills, but it's trying too hard to 'elevate the genre' and that makes this one too uneven for me to really enjoy. Great reaction.

SpookyAstronauts here on YT had an interesting take. We (the audience) aren't watching from Johnny's perspective. We are actually the woods themselves. Which is why we are seeing scenes that Johnny isn't. I found that pretty neat to think about.

Omg I remember drinking High Life all of the time in grad school lmao I loved this movie. It's like Terrence Malick directed an homage to slasher movies like Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine. I enjoyed the cinematography and the unique take on the genre.

I love this movie so damn much! The anticipation leading up to its release was UNREAL and after the end credits rolled I was one content little bean. Loved the slow pace. Loved following the killer 95% of the time. Loved that the other characters were just a side show and didn’t need any back story on them. Can’t freakin WAIT for a sequel. This movie was made for a specific slasher demographic who has been craving something new and by golly they succeeded. You don’t see Johnny any more at the end because he got his locket back haha they could have cut it a little shorted instead of dragging the scene out but hey for every other part of the film I think they did a superb job. Was also laughing along with you the entire reaction. Love that you get it haha Happy Bday too man! 🤘🏻

I liked the movie (mainly the excellent camerawork, its aspect ratio and special make-up effects), but the characters, their motivations and the dialogues were horrendous (especially with the three victims on the porch and the end scene in the car), in a 1970s or 1980s slasher it's sometimes fun having terrible dialogues, but a modern one, that also is trying to be artsy, it is not done imo. Btw, you scared the shit outa me, way more than this movie did hahahaha, that creature around the corner, damn!

Saw this in theaters, and I loved the cool kills. The exposition is done well, and I love how it’s shot. I do wish it had a soundtrack in the end, maybe slowly building up but each kill is silent? Something that is an homage to Halloween? I think it could have helped with the pacing, it felt a little long with all the shots of him walking in the woods silent. Maybe a subconscious low thing that is a ticking time bomb. Getting louder through out the film and cutting out during the kills.

I know it is really dumb that some characters in the movie didn't hurt Johnny more enough like aiming for the head or bringing a plan to trap him with something stronger but it's what the characters think to do in the movie situation since they don't know much about his durability to be hurt and it's probably what we would do in real life situation when we know one shot is not enough to take a monster like him down. Overall, I'm impressed with Johnny character. He is somehow in between like Jason Voorhees and Victor Crowley.

No it’s on the same level as Texas chainsaw massacre REBOOT 2003, and Texas chainsaw massacre, The beginning 2007 the kills were WAY WORSE only kill that was any good in this film was the YOGA kill but I prefer Texas chainsaw reboot and the beginning, those were more grisly and gory and gross

Turned it off pretty fast because I got bored, then watched Chance's reaction. Thought I missed out so I watched the whole thing but it's still pretty lame to me. Some cool kills but What I like about slashers is getting to know the victims and root for them. Idgaf about some dude Johnny killing people idk 😅
