Its not entirely related to this video. But my favourite custom map I remember spending far too much time building back in the day. I called Middle Management. 6-player, but every castle was restricted to level 3 dwellings. There were heaps of mines and things on the map to collect, but the win condition was to defeat a castle guarded by 10 Giants. It was great fun to play games with hordes of low level mooks.

@@KhelbensCoinTV it was fun watching friends get increasingly frustrated with the limitations. They would have to adjust their play style from high level ranged/flyers to being entirely reliant on the Zurg Rush style of spamming low strength/high stack units.

town portal is supposed to only appear in pyramids, because the OG devs knew it was OP. Similarly, you weren't meant to be able to take the ultimate artifact off of an enemy hero because they thought it would be unfair if instead of looking obelisks you just saw an enemy hero digging and then fought them. there is old yahoo groups posts from the 90s where Jon Van Caneghem (the lead Dev) talks about this stuff.

Yeah, for sure. In expansion maps, I think there might be a chance it appears in a Mage Guild, but I'm not 100% on that. I know the Battle Garb grants the spell to the hero, and I've definitely gotten the full Battle Garb of Anduran from a Shipwreck Survivor (which feels broken).

@@KhelbensCoinTV if you get the battle garb you deserve the best spell! my comment was more for people new to the game. i see a lot of videos where people are hoping for town portal to appear in a guild and not everyone has the luxury of being 1,000 years old with experience of heroes 2 from when it was new. Thanks for the videos Ross, it's fun to see all these user-maps.
