I used to work on the neck team at PRS and I also agree that the fiore neck is probably the most comfortable neck profile they have, in my opinion that is. The silver sky neck profile is very “stratty” where as the fiore is much more PRS like. The actual profile of the carve is extremely similar to their “pattern” profile but just overall slightly smaller. And I mean slightly, we’re talking a few thousandths. But enough to make a difference especially if you have smaller hands. If you like the PRS neck profile but wish it was a bit smaller then this is the neck for you. I refer to the fiore neck as the “pattern slim” profile. It’s not like the pattern thin, that’s a different profile entirely so if you’re not a fan of that profile don’t write this one off until you try it.
A correction is needed. The bridge humbucker does not split, it goes from series to parallel. Great review and makes me happy to own both the black and the red versions.
I love it when PRS does their superstrat/modified strat thing. The Brent Mason (I regret selling mine every day) and the NF3 were both awesome. This looks just as great. The Silver Sky just isn't interesting enough in comparison.
I have to agree with your opinion on the Fiore. I currently have a core 594SC, Core Tremonti, SE HB Piezo and the Fiore, and have owned many PRS in the past. The Fiore is a fantastic guitar. Very versatile and one of my favorites to play. I choose it over the silver sky.
I have a very similar collection. Curious about one thing. I've always avoided Samp Ash because of the scooped mids, but it seems like these pickups are voiced to have a pushed, throaty, and warm mids that offsets that. Would you say that is a fair way to describe the tone. Also, how would you compare the neck profile to these other known neck profiles?
Yeah, I normally don't like PRS guitars. I've always said they look like you need to wear a suit and necktie to play them, and that's just not me. They're gorgeous, but I want something that I can be a little rougher with. This guitar, however...I really dig the looks of it.
I just bought a new Fiora in red two weeks ago...incredible guitar and the transparent red is even better in person. Tonally I find it way more versatile than the standard HSS set up that splits the bridge humbucker and yeah - the neck is money.
Mark knows what's up. Ash strat with access carves but only *just* so. Maple one piece neck/fingerboard. Trans red, satin neck. done and done. I would love to see a Japan model, because ash in red finishes is something everyone there does well, no matter what factory you get in with.
I had one to try, great playing feel. It really was a comfortable guitar but the pups are definitely voiced for that certain "strattyness" and the humbucker was just voiced in a PRS way that I couldn't just love. I'm more a metal guy and the tone was never metal. But for the guy's who are always on the neck pup ala SRV, you'd love this guitar. In the end for the $$$$ I just thought I should get something that suits me better.
Never thought to see a review of that guitar from a „metal guy“ like you, Fluff. Love Snarky Puppy! Was able to visit a soundcheck and something of a Q&A with Micheal League. Was very inspiring. Some of my fellow students (music college) were cheeky enough if the college could attend the soundcheck, since they played right next door. BTW, love mostly heavy music. Anyways, great review of an awesome guitar!
Man that archon 50 sounds so cool. On the off chance you have time to answer... If you had to pick one amp between the EVH 5150 III stealth 50 and the Archon for metalcore/post hardcore and pretty much all things heavy with some pop punk love thrown in. Which do you choose?
The only thing Im not crazy about is the maple fretboard, ive always preferred a rosewood or ebony, i know its cosmetic but everybody has a preference, those pickups are nice tho.
bridge "looks" decked tho, and iirc the fiore has 5 springs. (4, actually thanks trogley) technically i think that means if you float it youll still have standard "fun" dropping to D standard, retuning etc. still a gorgeous guitar.

The knob placement was the deal breaker for me when I tried one out; it was definitely getting in the way during palm mutes and pam muted runs. I wish the knob placement was more standard PRS, which never bothers me.
@@ncnoman Absolutely. The issue is exacerbated because not only is the knob placement tight, you literally just brush it and moves. Deal breaker for me.....although I did think the Fiore sounded, felt and played awesome!
At 3600 cad i could go get a fender or Ibanez or other high end knock off and upgrade it to the same specs for less….. or i could get a local luthier to build me something the same but that looks nicer wood wise……
The advertsing shill in you has to say that it isn't just another super strat. But in reality, that's all it is. And feature packed, well yeah, it better be at their price point. Decent review for an ad guy.
I have a ton of love for prs and for how they have very high standards. But this one is a bust for me.. sounds and looks alot like an 80s ibanez roadstar series 2 or late 80s early 90s HM Fender strats . Gonna have to give this one a pass. But im sure with out a doubt it's a soild guitar
Any guitar with the volume or any knob so close to the bridge pickup is a DQ. My hands a big and that just gets in the way of my right hand. Everything else is irrelevant to me.
@@RiffsAndBeards I think it's a bunch of aesthetic choices that don't fit well together. Separately they'd be fine. I like PRS headstock, but I think it looks really out of place on an S shaped guitar for instance.
