We pay twice as much for much less. The problem is the profit. The ACA reduced the Insurance companies profit margin to 35%. It had been higher, but no one knows how much higher because the financial workings of insurance companies were entirely private before the ACA. Getting rid of the bloated profits of the private health insurance industry will save us money.

It's so great to hear you talk about the needs of the majority of the people of this country. There are so many horrible things trump and his senate do during the chaos he creates. People have been so beaten down it has taken a huge effort to get people to see one payer universal health care is possible. Higher wages, unions, education for anyone who wants one and more it's possible and better than giving money, tax cuts to the very wealthy. Thank you both for your efforts.

Dewaldt social security and Medicaid are primarily paid into directly though, which is why they're not typically counted when talking about this.

I think if he does get into power it would be best if he did raise the military budget again though by only like 2% as a token gesture. Taxing the rich is far more important and would provide more than enough money for all the social programs.

Hopefully the Trump backlash in 2020 will pave the way for progressives like Bernie Sanders to pass laws that offer tangible improvements to Americans' daily lives.
