eNCA's Tumelo Mothotoane and Gareth Edwards are in conversation with DA Council Federal Chairperson, Helen Zille, discussing challenges in the party and coalitions. #DStv403
True, what Aunty struggles to realize is that times have changed for the people of SA and the marginalized people of this country had enough. You can not use 1980-and 1990's solutions for the current climate. The balance of powers has shifted and until she realizes that the majority of the people are still the black population(they vote for people they can trust) and a fast growing Coloured /Khoi identity group of people who refuse to say Ya baas , Nee baas she will continue lamenting 'frustrations ' and crying foul that Coloured people can still leek their backside. Their eyes have opened ; the scales are slowly falling off and they see who is still sitting at the table eating sea foods and roast beefs while they (both blacks and coloureds )are eating the crumbs. WAKE UP AUNTY HELEN ! You and your DA party ' time is up.
@@kennethward2537 Wake up uncle Kenneth > Apartheid is over... It's a black government that you put in power+ trust that is lying ,stealing resources n marginalizing you
Credit to enca for giving Helen and the DA an opportunity to state their side of the story. For too long we only heard the 1 side but this puts things into perspective.
Good interview & all kudos to Helen Zille - she should be President of this country - competent, honest, direct & delivers! What a blessing that would be.
Excellent interview. We need to hear more from the DA leadership, to dispel misinformation and untruths from political opportunists. Some love to hate the DA because it is convenient to do so. In truth SA needs the DA, like no other time before! Keep up the good work.
@@rockybilboa6136 The only realistic alternative is the anc and I'm sure with 71 murders a day, up to 10 hours of loadshedding a day, 40% unemployment, etc they are definitely the better option.
@@ash9744 sane people will never vote for a party that perpetuates Apartheid. Helen doesn't see non-whites as their equals. We need Coalition government, this One party rule is nonsense.
Because she stipulates before the interview that she will not be interrupted when she speaks if you want to speak to her on national television ! I can smell a witchcraft from a afar. All jokes aside ,Aunty Helen made it her mission that she will not be bullied into submission by the likes of former Progressive Federal Party leaders of the past , Harry Schwarz and Colin Eglin , etc. She developed a thick skin because of people like that. So, John Steenhuizen should tread very carefully !
blah blah blah ....if she is so well articulate in front of the camera ,i wonder how she responds to her subordinates off camera. And why so many black coloured leaders left the DA .THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES.
@@marcone123ish in this case, I just boldly said it, mark my words, "no white man or woman, will have political power this country, ever again, in our lifetime, most of us would rather die before that happens
Thank you for this reporting. Helen is a most astute and intelligent politician. She is in a class of her own. Probably why she is so hated. She is always a step ahead of her opposition.
She may be in a class of her own, goddamit ! But she uses emotional bully tactics against her collogues and subordinates. She reminds me of the evil boss 'The devil wears prada.' WUIT SATAN !
@@kennethward2537 what rubbish, when ever somebody in the DA gets caught not performing or doing something wrong, they run away crying and bashing the DA and Helen. You welcome to belive those fools or you can choose to believe a person that has been fighting for black peoples rights for almost 60 years now, going all the way back to the black sash.
Helen and Malema made some of us to be interested in politics. They got that thing, This Woman made sure as a journalist way back the world knows what's going in South Africa, in a way she fought for this democracy yet some people don't know
Love or hate her. Zille has the guts to state a simple truth: everything the ANC has touched it has destroyed, decimated or stolen. It has degenerated into a curse on us all.
We’re afraid to speak up? Last week in a caucus meeting I complained to Helen and John and Solly. All heard my complaint, it was discussed openly and rebutted - though I still don’t agree with the argument raised by John. That’s ok, we’re allowed to have our own dissenting opinion and to speak it openly without fear.
Here we have DA and other coalition's partners desperately looking for power, so they were unable to see what the eventual future implication could be, so that they could propose the change of the law. Now that the OPOSITION got the power they are fighting each other to a stage to hand over the power to ANC. THe law MUST be revised with regards to coalition.
Having a threshold in being in government is the right thing to do. If they want to get to this threshold then what these parties stand for, becomes more clearer than just tapping into the disaffected and disillusioned voters.
Why struggle within the same system where power will be given to the leaders AGAIN. Change the system so we can vote directly for our leaders. Now we vote for a party and the party decides who the ministers will be. The party elect the president. Voting directly for our leaders they can be held accountable for their actions because we won't have to wait 4 years to get rid of them.
True & we the people must choose the laws especially the criminal system because ATM it's a joke with the correct sentences they will think 10X corruption will also be reduced .✌️
I'm not affiliated with any party I wanna make a clear decision when I vote. I watched this interview with an intent to see whether will Helen be asked real questions about what is really happening within the DA. If it was ANC, EFF or any other African party on the same seat the would have been bombered with heavy questions. I'm really disappointed in this Channel can we have fairness and balance interviewing please
Politics is about give and take ,a little here a little there. Helen Zille is is still struggling with the fact that Coloured and Black people will bow to her ja baas ,nee baas mentality. Gayton said : 'We use our bargaining power to extract maximum value for our people, we have given both parties (DA and ANC) power at many municipalities with our seats, we did that until we saw no value for people and we retract that support. We are the Kingmakers in City of Joburg and with that should come jobs and opportunities, no excuses or stories. We have been disrespected by the DA hence we pulled our support, any disrespect by the ANC will be treated in same fashion, we are no ones fools anymore '.Touch is a move !
Does inconsistency in your council assist you guys to achieve jobs and opportunities. I am asking simply because your municipality, is like my municipality and inconsistency is crippling the best services suppose to be rendered to people. Maybe, we can learn from your experience. Or as black people we are suppose to wonder what next for local government to work, which in my view local government is suppose to be stable to attract investment that will create jobs and opportunities. Are instable municipalities attract investmest.
@@sikhumbuzolukashe4431 Inconsistency in our council ? Friend , what world are you living in ? Inconsistency in other parties like the ANC and DA are not judged but you wanna talk about inconsistency in the PA. First of all i'm not a lekkie for the PA, I will criticize the party when they go off track and applaud when they do a good job and that goes for all other parties which has a constitutional mandate from it's people to serve the people. For too long political parties have silently being ignoring the Coloured people as well as those who can not make their voices heard and ultimately resort to extreme measures through protests, etc. The ANC is the biggest disruptor of service delivery and quick to move a motion of what have you against Mayors, not PA. THE PA has a mandate to serve the interests of it's people and they will move heaven and earth to put it's people first or else the people will remove them and go somewhere else. Ask the crying DA who lost so many voters. Investments will come when the injustices of the past has been addressed.
We are so very tired of politics. Do our leaders really care about our nations and the generations who will be our future? It speaks very much about status, power and possession. It's tiring to watch as a mother and grandmother who sighs and prays for the next generations of this beautiful land. NMBM Resident
SA news anchors are under prepared when dealing with top politicians such as Helen Zille. She sails smoothly in interviews. This was a lost opportunity. You can't be dwelling on nonsense such as Twitter when you could delve deeper into DA's policies, track record in goverment ect.
Helen is eloquent,it's her first language ofcoz, Helen has content, Helen can create strong views but she is human and she makes mistakes not sure if some are deliberate. ON the issue of "breeding" she missed the history and genesis of it. Blacks leaving their villages and homes for the city was never originally a choice. And the legacy of this coercion is what Helen is claiming to be a problem today, ofcoz it is but it's genesis is forced labor to which any informed person who is fair minded must have in mind as the nation deliberate on it.. but she is very right we can not build a working society from broken families.
Zille does not explain why the DA did not want to give the speaker position to IFP, they wanted to take everythings and refused to listed to other parties. That is not how coalitions work
This interview is very bias, imagine if this was @Eff they are listened to fully imagine the most hated n yet love @JGZuma he ll never get such airtime. So all what @Zille is saying is left without interrogation tomuch lies but not questioned, not accounting to any
helen we want action your answer are good as ANC answers you have experience but we want action we are tired of good answers your party failed karoo thanks to McKenzie DA and ANC are the same
From this interview I now believe all the accusations that have been made against her. She must be renamed the Supreme Leader of the DA, because if the DA has a constitution anf federal structure, why does everything seem to revolve around her?!
Why people are saying Helen Zille is fighting everyone in her party more especially our black people who use to play an important role in the DA , but come to an interview she's becoming a good Samaritan a lion in a sheep skin.
She is being disingenuous. she was berating Black people retweeting that tweet.. She more than anybody should know better than an ordinary man about Apartheid spatial planning. No surprise Helen you cannot attract the Black vote.
You clearly do not understand the concept of cadre deployment. Where is the DA's committee that handpicked certain individuals for certain posts, where are the minutes of these discussions?
@@ash9744 you should read more fool. A qualified brown person were not hired in favor of an unqualified white. DA uses Cadre Deployment, Mazzone lied about being an advocate, nothing happened
Very soft approach in interviewing Mrs Zille, Maimane, Mashaba, Mazibuko, Baloyi, Ntuli just to mention a few of the black leaders who the DA have dumped it's hard to believe that these were just disagreements or misunderstanding with all of them. 2 Majority of the coalition parties are accusing the DA of not engaging with other parties they are bullying their coalition partners. 3 Khayelitsha, Langa, Capeflats etc are very poor communities drugs unemployment etc, what is the DA saying about that. 4 Why is the DA not agreeing with giving the land back to the people?
The anc is corrupt they even admit it themselves, so now the DA instead of using that to their advantage they still want to take us back to those years i don't want to talk about, if you look at Capetown the DA only takes care of white communities places like Langa and Capeflats its like they are not even in South Africa on top of that they bully other parties that they are in coalitions with you can't be in a coalition with a party and you are the only one making decisions.
@@williamthage923 Stop spreading disinformation about the DA. That is a lie, deliberately spread by the ANC/EFF during election season!!! It is just not true at all. No other political party can match the DA's performance when it comes to honest government and service delivery for ALL South Africans!!! See ' DA- run municipalities really are best at delivering to poor", Politicsweb..This article is based on statistics and graphs published by STATS SA.
@ William Thage For the DA's position on land reform, see Mac G's recent Podcast with John Steenhuisen on RU-vid, which specifically discusses this issue. It is a real eye- opener which has received overwhelmingly positive responses from the youth! ( read the comments of the youth)
You can ask any question and try to corner her, trying to blame her for prpple who disrespect her she will always be truthful. stop protecting people who send nonsensical ideas on social media and when they get answers they wsnt protection from jounalists.
What Helen is saying about Phumlani's tweet wasn't true though. He received *plenty* of outrage for having used the word breeding long before she ever re-tweeted it. That's what made the tweet go viral in the first place. So let's not be too self-centered there, Helen.
