Try to explain to the kids that this aging, bald guy wearing a tightly buttoned up Walmart plaid shirt OWNED the 80's radio waves. Miss you Mr Collins. We need more of you these days.
by the way, my 8 year old son LOVES LOVES LOVES Phil Collins! I'm so proud, lol! Now he and I listen and sing our hearts out in the car together. It's awesome! :-)
Saw him in Dublin three days ago, poor guy had to do the gig sitting down but he still gave it 100%. He's an incredibly talented and humble person who has achieved so much
You go, Phil! Show the world what REAL music is! I remember getting my older bro the "And Then There Were Three" album. I heard him play it, then borrowed it, borrowed it again, again, etc you get the picture- I was totally hooked especially on Follow You Follow Me, finally he says in disgust, "oh go ahead & keep it..." this was back in 1978- still got it & a number of other Genesis & Phil Collins albums. Incredibly gifted you are! Hope you can tour the US-never had the pleasure of seeing & hearing you perform.
I had the pleasure of meeting Phil also his son Nic and the band, I got to shake his hand to. What a very nice man he is, unfortunately company policy is we can't ask for pictures with guests that stay with us. Look forward to him coming back soon.
Phil Collins is proof there is a God! I am so sad that he has focused so much on the neg things people have said over the years. When I hear his voice, I am in AWE. I always say he sounds like a human sax...just a clear and amazingly beautiful voice. Faves include Hold On My Heart, Both Sides of the Story, Driving The Last Spike, Do You Remember, No Son of Mine, Everyday, to name a few.
@Phil Collins, Sir I just listened to a interview with Nick about his involvement with you, and listened to him do a solo of him playing the 🥁 drums.... How proud can you be... So now I run between you and him. It's simply outrageous!!! Whey to go to the Collins!!!!! Never be another set like this!!
Steve Allen and Phil Collins two heroes of mine. Steve has a great skill in getting a "real" interview. Great insights and personal warmth, superb, bravo.
It's actually really cool to see him well here. I don't know if its just me, but a couple of other recent interviews and some of the stuff from around the recent Genesis doco, he looked rather unwell, tired and tbh a bit sad. Here, tho, he seems happier and vibrant. Good to see.
talktomeaboutlife I was thinking the same. I think it was either during or immediately after his period of 'drinking'. He said it hospitalised him, plus having surgery on his back etc.
It's interesting, though, I think he looks slightly better here (and on the BBC interview he did around the same time) than he did at the US open and the Jools Holland thing the other day. Could be purely subjective though, or maybe it's just the usual ups and downs people have. But whatever, not fair to him to just keep commenting on how he looks. Only want the best for him, and to have fun with it all.
Phil’s responsible for some serious romance I had with my first boyfriend, in high school. I remember Live Aid and Phil on The Concorde jet. And let’s not forget Miami Vice! “In the air tonight”, one of the sexiest TV moments in history!👍
PC is a legend.. His drumming and singing with Genesis was different class ...so many great albums and gigs, some of his solo stuff is questionable but he deserves the right to do what he wants.. I know he is struggling to play drums but I would love Genesis to get back for another tour..
NEVER forget Phil´s acting skillz aswell: "Miami Vice-role", "Froud" & topact on "The big robery"! (Y) WARM WELCOME back dear Phil - MY BIG dream is You & TOTO together (Y)
I enjoyed this interview. I thought this interviewer really established a rapport with Phil. My take changed when I learned Phil's manager was sitting right beside him. I mean, I didn't think Phil just took a taxi to the interview, and took taxi home. I just have begun to realize what it must be like to be Phil Collins. I don't think I'd fancy it.
I’m a whole lot late here. However, I was so disappointed that Phil got back with his 3rd wife. Then boom, separated again. He’s a smart musician, but not smart on other things. Phil appeared to be happy with his 9 year relationship with Dana Tyler.
That mike should be just a little bit bigger..I thought he had carpel tunnel or peripheral neuropathy in his arms ? tony, mike, pete, their still all there... come on !! HUGE money !
Tjfreak in his audiobook Not Dead Yet! read by Phil he says in the prologue, I believe, that even the $1B yes Billion dollar payday to re-tour with Genesis would not get him out there again but being able to tour with his fantastically talented drummer son Nicholas (16 years old!) would get him out again. I love that he makes no apologies for what happens to all of us-aging! You go Phil!
He says he doesn’t need the $ obviously! He mentioned a little here he has cervical spine surgery and he gets awful extremely painful shooting pains. He had a couple surgeries on his left arm that make him unable to hold a drumstick 😭
+Owen M He has stated that the doctor that did surgery on his back recently told him "If you want to play drums again, all you have to do is practice". And, he said that he would start that again once his foot was healed. So, Yes is the answer to your question.
+excelerater AH HAHAHAHAHA!!! Greatest post of all time, I have that album where that guy screams that at him, and Phil says alright alright hold on, and then I'll play the bloody cage! Thanks!
still missing you. you're not a person on my phone, or in a video, or picture, meme, book. you are a person I wish I could have known a little better than modern media. I'm more into the real than the various and celebrated images of the real. it feels like I'm running out of time to even hope for that happening...😞😳✌🏼 God's will be done. ✔ ✝
