It was amazing having him in - jealous that you get to listen to his music every night on tour! 😲 Glad we could be part of your journey and we'd love to have you on the show soon! 🙌
3:52 - "I don't have a guitar tech; i am the guitar tech and i don't want people touching my guitar..." I don't know why but this statement probably gave me the most satisfying feeling ever.
He's talking about an upcoming tour with Jerry Douglas: I saw that tour at The Apex in Bury Saint Edmunds. Tommy was on fire! His new lighting man complemented the whole performance; unbeatable. Unfortunately, much as I like Jerry Douglas when he's in a band, backing people like Alison Kraus, I just didn't understand what he was trying to say. I now have a ticket for the same venue next January (2024) where Tommy will have Molly Tuttle; don't know if she'll be solo or backed, but I'm certainly looking forward to it...
Just had the pleasure of seeing Tommy in concert for the very first time - in Los Angeles. I’m still coming off a cloud. Not only was his playing superb, but what drew me in the most was his exuberance and joy on stage. He was like a kid on Christmas Day. Having so much fun and exhibiting so much spirit! Thank you TE for that experience!
such an honest interview .. have followed TE all the way back to when he used to do the pub scene and RSLs here in Sydney . Has always been such a genuine person.
Lucky enough to catch Tommy in Cardiff on the 5th March. Probably the 5th or 6th time I’ve heard him live - lucky me! I figured he would have slowed down a bit by now but actually he was the best I have ever seen him. Some of his collaborations with Jerry were just brilliant. He is such a legend on stage and in person. If you have never seen him live you really should take the opportunity! Awesome.
I hear Tommy talk it makes me tearful, spoke too Tommy 30yrs ago and he made me and my friend smile so much when he said ...come closer..that inspired me too play for some amazing players. Go well Tommy
Tommy an exception but long gone the days of players like Buchanan using NO effects (just the amp reverb sometimes) relying instead on just one guitar, fingers, technique, no electronic tuner, string changing done on the stage floor mid gig. Audience never batted an eyelid.
I'm interested in that acoustic guitar without pickup, just nice and simple! What's the brand and can I buy it in Australia? Thanks and cheers! ( Hopefully you'll reply me )
Concert size guitar? I think strings are as low they can be without buzz? Like his keep it simple. Why hazzle? He has nice stories but I want to know what it takes to get his level of playing? I am maybe half way from his technique. Never to his level. I like more playing and singing not virtuoso one man band thing. Here in Finland is Tomi Paldanius been in his concert. He plays Maton's guitar. And is this level.
