I love how brutally honest you are, mate. A proraso tutorial and how you express and forget your troubles through DE Wet Shaving. Hopefully you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Much love, a new subscriber to your channel.
After sampling several different fancy artisan soaps for a few years, I ultimately went back to Proraso as my primary go-to shaving soap. It's a good-quality soap sold at a fair price, and you can conveniently find it at most pharmacies and supermarkets here in Canada. Gimmicky soaps don't give you a better shave; practicing your technique does.
Sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me
@Mohammad Samir i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I was 50 when I decided to try a de safety razor and it was you that ended up teaching me how to use it. Thank You for making these videos. It was also because of you that I found out about Proraso. I'll probably never use anything else, it's a pure joy shaving with that soap. Thanks again.
I now know why I enjoy watching your channel so much. I obviously have the same tastes in shaving as you do. I started out with exactly the same products apart from a rose gold handle on my razor. And your lathering technique has worked well for me even while travelling to towns where the water effects the soaps differently. Thanks for all your efforts in your videos💈💈
just getting into wet shaving, and just today discovered your channel. THANK YOU! the way you lather and the way you describe shaving, is exactly what im looking for help on.
@@AnotherCutAbove So I finally got to shave using your tips and following your information and video today. Made one slight modification, I bowl lathered just a bit so I had some for at the end (and more so, to see if I could actually do it). To be perfectly honest, what transpired was life changing for my shaves. I had the single greatest shave I have ever had, and I've been shaving for almost 20 yrs. The lather was so rich and soothing, the razor glided effortlessly access my face and head. Using your tips and things to watch for made the world of difference. Much like you, in Law enforcement and hated shaving, did it because have to keep the professional look, switched to DE and was working on it, but still not understanding what all the hub bub was about. Well, today I got it. I understand. The first time I've been able to actually get BBS for both my face and head. It's true, my wife compared it to my toddlers butt. So Thank you again!
Great story. I'm just after my first shave using this shaver. Wished I've watched it before :D I've started just because of using too much plastics - so environment + disposable shavers were clogging too much. Thanks!
I cant believe it! I've been watching you for a few months and did not realise you were a fellow West Aussie until you mentioned it in this video. Mind blown.
Awesome tutorial Dude. Thanks too much. Really appreciate you taking the time out to share, demonstrate and coach. I've shared this with my Bro in the UK, Sean, as we both struggle with shaving. I'm loving my shaves now too. Hoping he gets his rhythm with Wetshaving. Keep up the good work and keep well, Bro.
Great vlog mate nobe headshaver here... best way to lather up I’ve seen.. bought the parasso pre and green soap with a Edwin jagger de89 keep up the good work.
This is a very good video. I wish when I started traditional wet shaving there was a video like this I started watching Paul h and I was watching another guy and the stallion I have stuck with double edge razors I haven’t tried straight razors yet lol thanks for the video
Great tutorial mate, can’t wait to try your lathering technique even though I’ve been wet shaving for a while I struggle with getting a consistent lather sometimes!
Good luck man! Great way to turn a chore into something more enjoyable! If you’ve ever any questions ask away, everyone is always happy to chime in and help!
Awesome Tutorial Mate! I have just started wet shaving and have watched a few of your videos now. I have got the Proraso Green range. Shaving has become something I really look forward to each night. Keep the vids coming 🤙🏼
Basically how i started off with the exception of the razor and brush. I bought the Kelvin from Amazon and a Sovereign brush (very soft with next to no back bone). I now have a few razors and more than a few soaps/aftershaves and blades aplenty. Love the ATT Calypso. Great videos 👍
Thanks man! Yeah I have sunk a small fortune into this hobby but I wouldn’t change a thing! This year will see a rather large increase in my shaving stock as I will be visiting Canada 🇨🇦! Can’t wait!
@@AnotherCutAbove Coincidentally I am planning to go to Canada to, my daughter is doing a term at the University of Waterloo and we are looking at heading out some time in April/May after term finishes. Not sure where else we will go. My son has been out to the National Parks in Banff area, looks stunning.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I love your shaving channel I watch your shaving videos more than anyone else’s also I am fanatical‘be bought four razors in about a month and a half . But anyway I love your videos
What I started to do is...(I use the dry method) once I’m done loading my brush, I’ll quickly run my brush over the hot/warm running water then bring it right to my face. I find this way I only have to add water maby 1 or 2 more times.
Butterfly or fixed which is better? I bought a Viking chieftain butterfly. I’m very new I’ve shaved about 4 times. (Getting better) so any info would be great. 57 yr old from Houston tx. Thanks love the video
Love this video. I got my prosaro set today. The pre shave cream, soap and post shave balm are so nice. Had a shave with a straight razor earlier and my face is literally as smooth as a baby's arse! I had to stop using the cartridge razors as they were giving me razor burn. I get no irritation with the single blade and the feather safety razor and the shave is so close.
I just ordered all that pre shave, shave cream, post shave and after shave. Plus new safety razor and stand. First time after 30 years of cartridges. Hope not to many cuts.
Fingers crossed, dont be disheartened if there is some blood and irritation. You and your skins need to adapt. It took me a long time to be come comfortable and every now and then I still have a rough shave. The main thing is I now look forward to shave rather than loathe the thought of it!
@@AnotherCutAbove thanks for the reply, I have noticed there is Proraso cream that is mixed with a brush in its own jar them there is the cream that is added to a shave Mug/pot then water is added and brush. Is there a big difference? Thanks
I wish I had 60 soaps 😂 I have 4 soaps and 3 creams. Just ordered another SC soap and want to get Gingers Garden aventus soap next month. I prefer Proraso White preshave, slightly less menthol.
so many people making youtube channels about such simple things in life. what is sad is in todays world fathers are missing so much that men need to come here to learn to shave. before they destroyed marriage fathers used to teach there boys how to shave as a coming of age thing.
My eldest boy is almost ready to knock off his first shave! It’s certainly something I look forward to passing onto him. We have somewhere along the way forgotten to take comfort in the simpler things in life.
My man thanks for your videos do you have any reccomendations on some nice synthetic brush brands, does that matter or? Love your accent by the way! Salute from Boston USA!
Synthetic knots are very cheap to purchase, AP shave co and Turn N Shave do some of my favourite synthetic knots. But with regards to handles it’s all down the preference and price willing to pay. Turn N Shave is one of the best in the business but there aren’t really any bad artisans in the traditional wet shaving space. Only different styles etc.
Cheers mate, I ordered everything that you had in your video. Hopefully it arrives next week in Adelaide. When you put the brush into the soap container I see it makes a lot of mess. Is that the reason why some people put the soap inside a Ceramic soap mug? Also, I have very sensitive skin so would the pre balm be good to use as a post balm as well? Thanks
@@AnotherCutAbove because I brought so many accessories that i probably won't use. I got the bundle of blades as well. What blade would you recommend for a beginner? Is sharper better or too many cuts? These are the samples thanks Astra Superior Platinum Derby Extra Derby Premium Feather Hi-Stainless Merkur Super Platinum Parker Premium Platinum Wilkinson Sword
The blades are the most subjective part of the shave. What works for me may not work for you. Astra is a pretty common and reasonably good blade. If you have very thick and heavy growth maybe go feather.
Loved the video mate! I'm not new to the hobby (well, I'm roughly about a year in) but still enjoyed the various tips. I actually used Soap Commander today (it's the Classic Spice I believe) and found it to be the only soap I've tried so far that took ages to get that translucent look to it that I've had since using your method to face lather. It seemed to drink an absolute ton of water and I still don't think I added enough! Definitely one that requires a major drink, but lathers up lovely anyway.
Yeah man but I find if you get it to the translucent point then you’re never a million miles away. It’s the biggest learning curve creating the lather in my opinion.
when you guys use your proraso red or green soap do you first flatten it down? Mine always comes with the soap having like a bump on top which is the only thing i don't like about it
Didn’t know you were a police officer. I’m currently a police officer and have to shave everyday, I hate it. My girlfriend recently bought me a “rapid beard shave kit” one of those cheaper shave kits. I’m a beginner to wet shaving and was wondering what “equipment” you’d recommend for a beginner? Razor, DE blade etc. I currently have the Proraso green shave line and love it.
Proraso is awesome stuff for sure! The 2 razors I recommend for beginners and advanced shavers alike is the Rockwell 6c or 6s and the Karve Christopher Bradley razor! Both offer exceptional smooth shaves. The Karve is my favourite by far though!
Hey Dan thank you so much for the tip, ive certainly come a long way since this video and probably another 600 videos lol. Im pretty settled in what i use now so i get reasonably consistent results. Take it easy cris
I brush the soap on my face for about 3-5 seconds then start shaving. Some guys i notice just keep going and going like the enegizer bunny.... Once i have an even layer, im shaving.
And that's exactly what it all about, doing what works for each of us. I use shaving as my way to try and clear my head, De stress etc. The lather process really allows me to do that. It's a simple pleasure I allow myself. The thing for me is that shaving is like a good curry 🥘! I enjoy it till it's finished and then an hour later I want more 😂
Jonathan Gillis and not only the enjoyment of it , some have more sensitive skin and need that really good rich lather to help protect our skin. A drier lather doesn’t help protect as much.
I have done in the past, proraso is a great product but not as good as most of the other products in my den. Head shaving needs heaps of slickness and I don't get that so much from proraso! I'll do a shave with it soon and see how it goes!
@@highonimmi Just like other powerful corporations they are promoting wackjob Leftism: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-koPmuEyP3a0.html
I agree (although I'm testing king c.gillette de blades at the 'mo) a good alternative I think is the Wilkinson sword DE blades, really easy to use I think.
I just started shaving this way and I've been using the same proraso products. No matter how wet the soap is or how thick the lather, the soap always dries up before I can finish. It dries up so much it comes off my face in flakes that float around as it falls off my face while shaving. And I still end up cutting myself on my chin and neck. Any idea why?
I've never really has those sorts of issues with proraso. Do you shave in a bathroom where there is any like drafts blowing through that could dry the lather? I know when I have my ducted air con on it causes all sorts of issues with my lather drying out!
It may just need some more water too, it can take quite alot proraso. Then again it could also possibly be your water. I know it's a pain but just to rule it out maybe try distilled or filtered water to see if that makes a difference.
I won't hide behind the fact either that proraso isn't the best soap available. There are many many soaps that are far superior and yield better lathers that stay wetter for longer for sure!
@@AnotherCutAbove no air drafts and I keep adding water and relathering and it dries so fast lol. I never thought about the water being the possible cause. I wonder if it's the menthol or some other ingredient reacting with my skin and causing a drying effect. What soaps do you recommend that are better?
