Hey love glad it was helpful! I definitely say dual enrollment will help you as an individual BUTTTT there are so many students that complete the dual enrollment credits in my opinion that it becomes the norm/expectation especially since UGA is very competitive. I think something that stands out is your extracurricular activities as well as the dual credits and regular grades.

Hi! I'll be a senior next year and am super nervous about college applications. I have my mind set on UGA but I'm worried that I waited too late to get my GPA up to a 4.0 or to have any of my numbers stand out since I have heard that UGA focuses mainly on test scores (for reference, I have a 3.78 GPA, which isn't horrible but not ideal). I am still continuously taking the SAT and ACT to try to get it up to its highest but I'm not that good of a test taker nor good at basic math, despite the fact that math has been my best subject all throughout high school. This year I really stepped it up academically and I plan to take three AP classes senior year to have a total of 8 and I'll have one year and one semester of dual enrollment. I am involved in school clubs and have a pretty decent amount of community service and some extra things I have done that may pop out and I plan to continue to serve as much as I can this summer. But now we've come to my problem: I have only recently (this year and next) decided to take my academics super seriously and, as I said above, I am almost sure that I've run out of time to make any drastic changes. While my freshman year grades were actually really good, sophomore year got me with chemistry (a C) and two B's. I had all A’s and one B last semester and am hoping to finish this semester with all A's. I just cant stop stressing about it since I really want UGA to be endgame. What I'm really trying to ask is: Based on what I have said, do you have any advice at all on what I can do to better my chances so late in the game? Sorry about the rant, and I really appreciate your video!!

Hi this was a really great video! I want to apply to uga but over the years uga has become really competitive and I’m scared I wont be able to get in. I have a 3.9 gpa and I dont have impressive extracurriculars. I had a job at a cookie store, helped out at the church, volunteered as a Korean school assistant, tutored someone english, but did not have a major role in school clubs because of covid and the multiple moves. My sat score currently is a 1270 and im planning to take it again while aiming for a 1350+. Im hoping I can get in, but Im really doubting myself these days.

Hey, don't be too hard on yourself especially because the stuff you just listed is still really good. And always remember the essay aspect of the application can carry you a long way so spend just as much time working and editing your essay as well as study for your SAT! I wish you the best of luck!!

Hi Lia! I want to apply to Georgia but my test scores are not in the middle 50% range that Georgia admissions display. With test scores being mandatory for fall 2022 applicants I will have to apply these. If the rest of my application is strong do you think it is possible to gain acceptance into Georgia? Thank you, and your video was very helpful!
@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
Hello!! Absolutely, if the rest of your application is pretty strong in your opinion I do think you will receive an acceptance. Remember that the middle 50% is just an average so if you fall below that, its okay and still like that you get accepted. If you are uncertain about applying early action with your scores, I would say go for it. If your application is strong, worse case scenario you get deferred and accepted at a later date!! Glad my video was helpful, sorry for the long wait but best of luck in your senior year and college applying process!!

Hey girl I’m currently a Junior and really wish to get in when I apply in October! I’m worried since everyone has told me my stats aren’t impressive enough, I have taken 8 Aps and I’m supposed to graduate with 13, but unfortunately I got a C in three of those classes which hurt my GPA so I only have a 3.5 unweighted but 4.0 weighed. (Im still top 10% of my school) I have many roles in the school such as vice president for a well known organization, jr Representative, president of my own club, executive manager for a non profit tutoring program, a member of BETA, NHS, etc, and currently work two jobs as a sales woman and at a receptionist at a Vet. I will intern this summer at a hospital and will intern my senior year for a clinic, not only that I will graduate with over 250+ hrs of community service. I have yet to take my SATs but I plan on taking them in May. I’m in a medical program and wish to get in for the premed pathway, idk im just really worried and plan on increasing my GPA as much as possible this year. Should I apply early or regular? Im just worried.

Hey girl I'm looking to apply to uga too! But I'm discouraged because I only have a 3.1 cumulative gpa, but my gpa junior year was a 3.7. My SAT score was very poor due to the fact I'm a bad test taker. However I do teach a class and also very involved with the school and community
@LiaMiaa222

hey love, don't be discouraged because during the application process literally anything can happen. If you are involved in school a good bit and maintain good grades this year there is still a chance to get in!! Wishing you the best of luck!!

@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
I am so sorry for the late response and I'm sorry to hear that you are discouraged but keep your head held high!! No matter what happens this year still apply and put your best work forward. Just work hard and diligently throughout this year. It is going to be challenging and you are going to want to just settle but don't let yourself give up! As far as your SAT score you could always study and do practice tests which helped me a bit but also try the ACT; this may just suit you better. They aren't looking for a perfect student but they are looking for a hard working, well rounded student. If you can portray that in your application there is definitely still hope so don't be discouraged! Best of luck!!

Hi! Great video! I want to apply regular decision this year. I have a 4.0 weighted and a 3.8 unweighted gpa. My school schedule goes by semesters, so by the end of this semester ( around christmas break) I will have taken 3 AP classes and 12 honors classes. I also scored a 5 on the AP german exam but never took the class. I was born in germany and lived there until 8th grade before i moved to atlanta. I was awarded the seal of biliteracy which required me to take the ap german test and pass it with a 4 or 5. I am worried about my course load since i only really will have taken 3 aps by the time i submit my application. Also, none of those ap tests will actually be on my application since they will obviously be in may. Would that hurt my chances? For my sat/act, i took the sat in may and scored a 1240, and am taking it again and hope to score a 1350+. I will also be taking the act on october 23. For my ecs, i am a member of french honor society, awarded seal of biliteracy, am a member in 3 school clubs, varsity track and field, i own two businesses - a photography and pressure washing business. I work a part time job, coded a calculator app. For my essay, I would like to talk about the “struggles” of being biracial and finding your perfect fit, and how i believe i was able to find a middle ground. Would that be a good idea in your opinion? I know this was a lot but I would appreciate if you would give your two cents about my chances. Thank you!!!
@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
Hey Miles, first off thank you and WOAHHH!! You literally have done some much throughout high school and sound like a very strong applicant from what you have told me. Not having your AP scores should not hurt you because from what I know they just want to see how many rigorous classes you have taken so if anything they are looking for your grade in those classes. Make sure you study for your SAT in order to increase your score to make you more competitive against your peers. Your ecs sounds spot make sure to exaggerate your participation in your clubs if you don't have a leadership position. As far as your essay, sounds like a great topics but make sure you give them depth that other may not in terms of the context. Tell them something that stands out from all the other biracial essays they are reading and be personable and vulnerable. I'm so glad this video was helpful and I hope you have an amazing senior year! You sound like an amazing well rounded student so best of luck!!

what are some key things to make a strong essay? i am SUPER involved with extracurriculares and have great leadership positions so i am strong in those areas and i have a 4.1 cumulative GPA (5 AP's from soph-junior) and i will take a total of 8 AP's by the end of my senior year. I've been having a really difficult time trying to raise my SAT score which is a 1120 and i'm scheduled to take the SAT oct. 2...i want to apply early action but do you think there could be any possibility of me getting accepted? i'm really nervous about my score and if i will score higher in the oct SAT
@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
Hey!! In order to make your essay stronger just be personable. They truly are just trying to get to know more about you as a person so think outside of the box. If you have something super crazy or funny that you've experienced write about it. Ive heard some CRAZY essay topics but they work so don't stress too much about it just make it genuine. I personally would say submit early action because if you are strong in those other areas it may be a helping hand for you. Worse case scenario you get deferred and are able to up your SAT scores and get admitted regular decision. I know its stressful but just take the application one piece at a time and you will be just fine!! Best of luck!

Thank you soooo much. If I got around a 1300 on the SAT should I submit that to Georgia?
@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 3 года назад
Personally I say it depends on what the rest of your academic statistics look like and whether you feel like it would benefit you in the admission process. I would consider the previous years median scores and see where you fall in that area to make a final decision. I know people in the past that submitted 1200's ea that were deferred and accepted later in the process so it truly varies for each person depending upon your other stats. Hope this answers helps a little and best of luck!

i got deferred early action, i resubmitted my SAT scores and did the optional supplement. Should I also submit my mid-year report (for senior year i have mostly B’s and a couple A’s unweighted), its just im unsure if this would be a downfall as my junior year grades were better with all A’s and only 1 B.

Hey AP classes are not necessarily required but they are encouraged to make your application more competitive but if you school has dual enrollment I would definitely recommend that over AP classes.They are categorized together as AP/Dual Enrollment when they show the admitted student stats so if you can do dual enrollment try for that and if not AP classes are definitely a great way to make your application more competitive!

so i really want to get into UGA, but they have an acceptance rate of 50% and they want you to score really higher on your ACT and your SAT. i’m going to end my honors pre calc class with a D and ik that’s not going to look to hot on a transcript. i have all A’s on the rest of my transcript. i also have a 4.31 unweighted and a 3.98 weighted. i’ve done varsity sports (swim and soccer) since freshman year and i am also in NHS. i have my final tomorrow and i’m 8th in my class. i’m going to superscore my ACT and when i took the PSAT i got a 1100 and UGA wants you to get a 1250 or higher. i’m just super stressed about it rn. in my field though i don’t need that high of a math, but i’m just trying to figure everything out.
@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
Hey McKenna, one thing I would say is definitely don't stress it too much because that causes you to get more overwhelmed in an already hectic process. But it sounds like you're involved in a decent bit at school and have a really good GPA regardless of your pre-Calc class. Remember colleges measure your growth throughout your high school career so that one bad grade is not going to overshadow your whole high school academic achievement. As far as the ACT and SAT I would just say try to get your score up as much as possible but don't spend too much time on it because colleges tend to look at your application as a whole and not base their acceptance strictly on your numerical achievements. Sounds like you're in pretty good shape so far and I can see the commitment you have to succeeding and getting into UGA thus far so continue to work hard and it will pay off in the end!

@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
Hey Jayla, first don't stress too much about the process because this year will already be stressful. As far as your application, when it comes to the clubs and activities make sure to emphasize your involvement. Throughout your senior year try to maintain at least all A's and B's because it could boost your GPA a little. Last tip, is be original in your writing because that may be a saving grace for you! Have someone look over your application and just trust the process! Best of luck to you!!

Hey, I know this video is like a year old but I was wondering if you could give me advice. Right now as a sophomore in high school I will have a 3.6 at the end of the year. Junior year I will be taking 3 ap and rest honors and senior probably 2 or 3 ap and Rest honors. What gpa will I have to maintain to have a chance to get into uga. @LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 2 года назад
Hey!! My best advice would just be to try to maintain all A's if possible and definitely take the AP tests at the end of the year. There is no specific GPA but the higher the better! As far as standing out make sure you are involved in some extracurricular activities inside and outside of school if possible. Leadership positions are always a good way to stand out! Lastly, make sure you have pretty much everything together as far as SAT/ACT test scores decent by the start of senior year so you can apply early action! Less people tend to apply so its not as hard to stand out. Be sure to have a good relationship with some teachers for good recommendation letters as well! Feel free to reach back out with any more questions!

Having a 3.26 gpa (UGA calculation and high school weighted, they were exactly the same) and mediocre extracurriculars, with 5 aps, my odds of getting are not great, my only real advantage is a 1460 SAT (Still not incredible by UGA standards) and an above average essay, about my brother having special needs and me learning patience. I applied EA and both Niche and Prep Scholar say I have a 25-30% of getting in but UGAs website seems to disagree, what do you think of my odds?
@LiaMiaa222
@LiaMiaa222 Год назад
Hey! First of all your GPA with your SAT and extracurriculars considered all together is still really good! Remember your application is not accepted based on one aspect but rather it is viewed holistically. I feel like your essay could also stand out a lot especially if it was written nicely which I don't doubt at all. I think the fact that you have all these items and you applied early action is a good thing for sure. Your essay and SAT alone will make you a pretty competitive applicant bc again GPA isn't everything.
