One way to save money would be to eliminate the rodi storage tank and just fill straight into the saltwater tank. And save probably 100 to 200 bucks by using regular pvc and valves from lowes.

I used an old salt tank from water softener (Free) to store rodi water above and brute container for salt mix below. Cheap enough and still productive. It all depends on what your willing to spend or afford. Yours is rock solid in design and construction, well done!

This was really helpful to get an idea of how to go about setting a mixing station up and visually understand the concept of how it works. Thank you!

So they make these 45 gallon grain bin or feed bins, that are conical at the bottom they come with steel stands. You can plumb them the same as you see in your video. There the same price shipped as your containers. The other plus of these is there's no dead zone at the one inch mark where salt can sit at the bottom and not get mixed. I've used these for mixing nutrients for gardens and tea's as well. Plus there food grade plastic.

The most expensive part is the RODI filters and tanks. Look online and locally to get the best deal/size/fit. From there, rely on Home Depot/Lowe’s for plumbing fittings and Amazon for inexpensive pump (Jaebo), heater, digital thermometer.

Love the cheaper set up idea. Also would love a possibility list. For example, I bet you would use brute trash cans for the cheaper version. Maybe lost/show containers that are more horizontal for those with limited space.

I’m new to Reefing, so my questions might sound kinda dumb. Your Sicce pump is used to pump RO/DI water from the freshwater tank to the saltwater tank. The same pump is used to circulate the saltwater. You use the hose reel for water changes. Do you also use it for fresh water top off? Since the pump and hose are kind of contaminated with salt does it matter during water top off?

This is the cleanest set up I’ve ever seen. Do you apply pipe thread sealant to the connections? Also, do you put any other pumps in the saltwater tank or do you just rely on the turbulence from the Sicce pump to mix the salt?

Nothing like being a resourceful guy.. Your ready for the water changes.. I only await till you make an automatic water changing over the week (dosing pumps) and making it more convenient for all over. Sediment filter will remove alot of required salts or required elements from salt ready mix. Need to see fish 🐠 already in the tank.. Deadline expired..
@eatsleepreef9565

I may do automatic. I love cleaning sandbed when I do changes. That’s the main reason I didn’t do it automatically
@umar
@umar 3 года назад
@@eatsleepreef9565 But weekly 4 to 5 gallon or maybe less automatic water change could be a win win.. You could just simply do normal cleaning weekly or so as per requirement. It may also help with the toxin released by corals while going war with other corals in tank.

Hi there. This was amazing help. I ended up purchasing the automatic hose reel. Did you change out the hose? Mine is a different colour than your clear hose. And being that it is 5/8 hose, what did you use to connect the hose to your piping? Both ends (of the hose reel) come with typical connectors that looks like metal. And of course they should be plastic for our use. Thanks in advance and great videos - they’ve helped tremendously.
