I’m in the market for a 2024 with the LZO and the rsts are priced at like 67,000. They are discounting the 2023s by like 8,000 though so I’m hoping I can wait a few months and get the same deal on a 24
I ordered a Denali Ultimate back in mid January from Ken Garff, got a call in November that my order was accepted by the factory and I’d have a build date soon. Still waiting for the build date. Curious when you ordered your ZR2.
@@jordanreyes8880Yeah I test drove a Chevy with the LM2 when it came out and I really liked that. I ordered mine with the LZ0, just waiting for it to get built. 😭
@@ddw3968 Yeah same, my 22 Silverado ZR2 center console lid I think I'll remove if I move onto another Silverado because I put my phone in the wireless charger and my gf puts hers in that little slot
I always enjoy your no BS, straight forward content and have learned a lot from your channel - as a matter of fact my 2024 Tahoe Premier with the LM2 diesel that was ordered to my spec was delivered to the dealer on the same day that GM announced the changes to the 2025 to include the Z71 with LZ0. I watched the promo videos once I returned from the bank from working on my finances for the 2024 model. Based on previous input from your channel as well other sources (but mainly yours) I did not take delivery of my 2024 and told them to roll my deposit for a 2025 Tahoe Z71 with adaptive air suspension and LZ0….so the wait continues…Thanks for your content.
I just this week traded my 23 king ranch for a 24 high country 6.2. What this truck can do is unreal, compared to the ford its just nuts. And 10 k cheaper...score!!
Every new truck (and I’m not counting a Honda civic / Ford focus with a truck bed!) is either a luxury vehicle or a fleet / commercial vehicle. There are no new trucks for normal folks because normal folks don’t buy new trucks. Chicken / egg problem….
All those bells and whistles on a truck are just more things to fail. Used to be trucks were utility vehicles. All you people buying these overpriced trucks are funding your savings and retirement accounts, correct? I suspect years from now you will wish you had invested your money in something other than an overpriced truck that depreciates. Just my thoughts of course. Remember, 99.9% of vehicles end up in the junk yard.
I cant remember but didn't you do a video where you said you actually got better MPG running in Sport mode instead of normal mode, and if so was the MPG gain worth running in sport rather than normal mode? and what was the difference
I still have my 5 Chevy trucks 1 S 10 4x4 , 1.. 99 3/4 ton. LT, 1.. 2005 dump truck, 2. W. T. , 150,000 miles each regular maintenance keeping till die.😂😊
What happen to the oil consumption information? I recall a lot of other people with excessive oil consumption? As well I heard no mention about top tier diesel
mine isn't like the other 2 people that reported excessive oil consumption. Mine does use a little bit of oil and I believe I know why. New video just on that is coming up in the near future. No mention of top tier diesel because it seems to be at just Costco and extremely rare otherwise. I may do a dedicated final video for just diesel information as well.
Just passing information on, my 2023 LZ0: first oil change at 1500 miles, no oil consumption, then 4500 miles later did oil change and no consumption, I am now at 8000 miles and zero consumption. I do no towing and drive average in terms of aggressiveness, I say that because I had a Porsche 911 and I didn't consume any oil, but if I got aggressive with it to have a little fun, it would use a little oil.
As of July 2024, I can see no way to get Max-Tow-4-Low on a GMC. It would be on the Denali, but you can't get Max Tow on it because of the magnetic shocks. So, that's a High Country exclusive.
I enjoy your videos big guy lol You really put the time in with em and it shows. I have the refresh Silverado and your videos are pretty helpful with how thoroughly you break everything down. That glow tie was a PITA till came to RU-vid university lol Appreciate you
The more I have dug into the Max Tow package, the more I think they use the same write up for all engines. My AT4 has the high output alternator, the 9.76” rear axle, the only radiator that comes with the 3.0, trailering package (don’t know why they include this line). The only things different on mine are the rear leaf springs, the rear shocks, and the gearing. From a safety perspective, one could argue that upgrading to heavier springs and shocks would provide the same trailering control as the Max Tow package. However from a performance perspective, it will be stressing the engine, transmission, driveshaft, and differential gears more with the 3.23 gearing, wearing them out faster. Is a calibration needed if one were to change the gearing?
Since I assume you work at a Chevy dealer and not a GM dealer it might not be something you have had much to do with but I notice that the whole line of Chevy pickups including the High Country have the old dash if you will, yes its the refresh but its not the same as the higher end GM ( choices higher then the SLT ) trucks such as AT4, Denali etc. Those higher end models have the center dash vents above the infotainment center which moves the info center down lower, the line of press switches are moved way down to accommodate the design changes, the dash vents to either extreme end are somewhat different as well. Just wondered if you have used or heard of any benefits over that style, there must be some reason GM went through all the pains to create a whole dash just for some of their pickups. That design difference is on not only the 1500 but the 2500/3500 as well.
@@DemonWorks I suppose they would give you a hard time at your dealership ( and no employee deal ) if you were to buy a GM product to get the different dash. I had not clued into their being two different dash layouts at GM until I was reading a forum where they were puzzled why some HD owners were complaining of the column auto shifter being in the way of vision of the info screen when in drive, then someone clued in and said its the dash differences ... one owner was driving a High Country with no issues, another had bought a Denali and was not happy with the view blockage. Of course with a 1500 its no issue with the console mounted shifter. Looking forward to seeing your new truck regardless, I'd love to have front/rear lockers !
Enjoyed your video, great detail as I’m looking into a new truck. (Have been a Ford guy for years). Looking at GMC or Chevy. Read a piece on google recently about some metal cracks happening on the roof panels on some 23/24 GMC & Chevy trucks. Requiring dealerships to weld and repaint the roof surface. Unsold inventory was being inspected prior to customer purchase. Do you have any information. I don’t want to be caught off guard. Thank you & appreciate your feedback.
I have the LZT and I have the 4 high and 4 low . My truck is identical to this except just not a high country. Not sure if I got lucky because I bought mine early in December of 2022.
By having a 3.73 rear your mpg is taking a sizeable reduction. The standard rear would easily provide 30 mpg. Now you would be lucky to get 24 mpg when not towing. Unless you are towing heavy there is no reason to order that package. The engine has plenty of torque to pull most loads. If you towing heavy step up to 2500 diesel. Your overall mpg would be about the same when towing.
I would have agreed with you before I got this truck but after owning it, and it being my 4th 3.0 Duramax, it actually got better mileage than my other ones, only one that showed better on the dash (not hand calculated) was the 2020. I believe the 3.73 gears actually help the mpg in my case.
The 2 speed transfercase is available in all trucks with the proper options, what I am referring to on mine is the Max tow package will negate the 2 speed transfercase unless it is equipped on the high country
I have a 2021 AT4 6.2; looking to trade and struggling with going to a 3.0 diesel or staying with 6.2. I only do about 11000k (6500 miles) per year. I never tow. Any thoughts appreciated.
If you are struggling to convince yourself on a 3.0, then go with the gas. Both are good engines. I prefer the diesel because I like Diesels, I like the sound, the way they provide the power, the fuel efficiency among other things. I have a Camaro SS with the LT1 6.2 and love the sounds and the performance of it. Get the one you are most comfortable with and you will be happiest. If you do stick to gas, you are still always welcome to stop in and post comments or questions here !
Good luck with the new truck. Only issue I’ve had is a low volume high pitch whine from the interior heat/AC vent fan. Probably Next dealer visit see how they long to fix that.
@@DemonWorksI agree. I got my AT4 off the lot and it had the $1000 sunroof (that I never use) but at least it didn’t have the HUD. I always wear polarized sunglasses and they make the HUD useless.
Other owner perspective - no sunroof - long term owners don’t want to deal with leaks. Weather stripping on roof long term shrink increasing wind noise The drains can clog depending on your outdoor environment over time. The drains are rubber/plastic type tubing. Over time they crack, shrink and route through your interior. Noise. And added cost.
agree will not buy a truck With a hole In the roof . Had to order a gmc sierra with the longer bed so , I got it without the sun roof also. It’s got 51,000 miles and has been 100% perfect .Favorite truck I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of new ones.
Good morning, I’m new to your channel and love it. I just purchased my 24 Silverado High country with the 3.0 diesel. Since I bought it I’ve notice a leak right under the rear cover. I’ve wiped it and it comes back. I’ve seen a video of yours having the same issue. Did you figure out where your oils was coming from. It looks the same as mine. The oil accumulates on the square notch of the rear cover of the engine.
@@DemonWorks thank you for the response. That’s what probably wrong with mine. But I just hate the thought of having a big repair on a brand new truck. This is my second 24 Silverado 3.0. The first one leaked right from the start. The day I brought it home. I looked underneath and there was the leak. I took it in and they said it was the real main seal. They said they had to take transmission of and all and I didn’t feel confident so I asked them to swap me trucks. After a lot of back and forth they swapped me trucks and now this one is doing the same thing. Not sure if I should live with it or go and have it repaired.
Having trouble with my radio restarting multiple times then completely having no volume . Restarting Safe mode seems too work sometimes but do you have any help ?
First suggestion is to get it to the dealer for the latest update. A lot of updates have become available. Hopefully that resolves the issue, if not, will need to be diagnosed to see if it's a module or electrical issue.
I really appreciate your honesty and the information you provide in your videos. I am going to be in the market for a half ton in the next year or so and I believe I’ll be going to go for the Silverado high country 3.0 Duramax. The question I have since you’ve had both with and without the max trailering package is do you feel there is a big difference in the low end torque with vs without it? I tow regularly around a 4k trailer but don’t want to close the door on a small travel trailer in the future. Btw I also live at elevation in Utah. Any help would be appreciated. Keep up the great work!!
@@DemonWorks I recently had the chance to drive the zr2 3.0. Can you tell a big difference between the ZR2 and the max tow from an acceleration and performance perspective? I would love to drive the max tow but it’s still a unicorn to find in the wild.

I looked at a well equipped 2500 that is $1000 more than my ZR2, but I have no use for a 2500 and I really like the total package of what the 1500 offers. All in what you need.
At 27:25, you have your phones Waze, and then you can swipe on the right to have Maps. I have a new 2024 and I am not able to do that. There's only the radio, trailer, and clock. Did they remove this feature or is this just because you have Apple?
I cannot compare to android, but I am pretty confident it's available for all. Hopefully someone with an android can chime in. I am able to do it on my 24 ZR2 as well as this 23.
@@duramarksI agree, a little of room for improvement. Have you clicked on the google maps icon? Maybe you need to have that open up first. Click google maps, then Waze then see if it’s added to the right side.
My 23 makes the same noise as yours like the high vibration noise something moving back and forth. Have you figured it out? Mine going back in the shop next week for the 3rd time on this noise. I heard it several times on you video.
That's interesting. Thanks for the reply. I'll mention it to the the service advisor. Enjoyed you videos. I'm 62 so I drive mine like a old man , but really enjoy the truck. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.
It did ! then i reshot it and it was worse. I need to figure out how disable the autofocus. For the 4hi/low - that was in reference to having the Max tow, you can only get the 2 speed and max tow together with High Country.
Looks like a nice truck but the designers of the instrumentation on these new trucks have gone completely insane at Ford and GM! Ford has bar graphs for the digital tach and speedo with big numbers in the middle. Annoying as hell and difficult to read and just get the information at a glance! On this GM truck, the basic gauge face is in the background but GM chose to use small T markers to indicate the position of the needle! All these designers need to be fired and the manager of the dept as well. The whole idea of instrumentation is to CONVEY information to the driver in the CLEAREST and FASTEST manner! If GM and Ford don't have a clue - all they had to do is to COPY what Honda, Porsche or Lamborghini has already made and be done with it. But instead, they tried to reiinvent the wheel and came up with a dumpster fire! This is where US designers are a decade BEHIND the best on the global marketplace!
Did you upgrade to the purchased version of the fuelly app? as i see a picture of your truck above the AVG MPG box and if so is there a benefit over the free version
if you do purchase the full version you should do a quick video of the benefits over the free one. i downloaded the fuelly app because i was watching your video@@DemonWorks
I know at the time you bought this truck you were able to get the tow package "AND" 4 LOW but for quite some time now when looking on either the Chevy or the GM sites, the moment Z71 is chosen to get the two speed transfer case and then choose the max tow package ( and max tow with the 3.0 gives the 3.73 ratio ), it kicks the other option off. Doesn't seem to matter what trim level is chosen, it does the same thing. So my question is since you are around the dealership and have a good handle of what is what, is it physically possible now to get the two speed transfer case with the tow package to get the lower geared diffs ?. There is no way I would buy a 4x4 pickup without low range and that would force me to look at a 2500/3500 in a GM product just so I can have decent diff gearing and low range .... or buy a Ford F150 or really stoop low and buy a Ram !
23 they cut off the Tow package really early. 24's it is available, still only 2 speed in the High Country. GMC has different offerings and I am unsure which trim to get for that.
@@GregHunt209 I just tried that and with choosing the max tow with the 6.2 and then in the last area of choices under mechanical can choose the two speed transfer case, that only seemed to show up in the LTZ trim, for some reason it never showed up in the high country as an option but that doesn't mean it didn't choose it. But yes, if I choose the 3.0 then it was a no go to get the two speed transfer case even without the Z71 package. I wonder what their reasoning is for this as then its not a suspension issue, they just don't want to mate that diesel with the 3.73 to the two speed.
@@GregHunt209 You were correct though, that 6.2 choice would allow to mate the max tow with the two speed. The question is why they won't mate any of the engine choices when they used to do just that. And I fully expect most sales personnel would be clueless unless they have been in this racket for a long time and know their vehicles.
Hey man little off topic. I ordered the Bilstein 5100 for my 23 and also going to upgrade the UCA at the same time. Would you still recommend the Rough Country arms? Can’t decide between those or Cognitos
@@DemonWorksI don’t know about Cognitos. I went through two pairs of Cognito tie rods in my ‘09 2500 GMC. The rod ends just wore out and I hardly ever took it off road. Went back to stock tie rods.
I think all DRL lights should be same color as turn signal, i don't like LED bright white for DRL, to many drivers these days driving around with no tail lights on being dumped down auto headlights worst invention of all, drivers turn your dam lights on!,,
First to ask ! I had Demon Motorsports prior but let that go as I wanted to do more than just "motorsports" stuff. So a Buddy of mine and I came up with DemonWorks as it allows any sort of direction I want. Thanks for asking !
Correct, my prior LM2's did not use that much either. With the LZ0 having dual def injectors, I guess they assumed it should double the DEF rate as well ... Def costs are relatively cheap so I still think the costs are well under the 6.2 still. the 5.3, not so much due to the ability to run 87 octane.
I still do not understand why they keep making shifters like that when they are electronic. Just looks like a waste of space, Id rather have an area to put things on then a shifter
I have a 2019 5th gen ram and am debating on keeping it another 5 years or buying a 2024 Chevy rst with the LZO. My concern is going to an engine with less HP I don’t want to regret that and also the ram has always been the nicest driving and riding between all half tons. So when I hear you say it’s a little bouncy I’m like shit because I know my 5 year old ram will still ride better than a 2024 GM or ford product
If you are going to base your purchase around someone from the internet that is comparing two factory shocks and refers to one as a little bouncy compared to the other, then you may want to just stick to the Ram. You already knew what you wanted though ....
@@DemonWorks dude you’re literally making these reviews for guys like me who are in the market comparing vehicles. Every one of you journalists or whatever only go over 2 things 1. Numbers 2. Features. Anyone can look those up for themselves, what nobody ever goes over is how is the steering how is the suspension how is the real world power in various driving situations, is there anything that I wouldn’t know without owning it that I should know? Like do you constantly feel like your shoulder is hitting the B pillar compared to another brand ect. Don’t be a an ass and assume I’m taking your word for 100% fact and spending 65k based on what you think. I want your damn opinion and if I see other people saying the same thing then I know there’s probably fire behind that smoke. And BTW the only way I’ll be getting a new ram is if it’s a new 2025 with the 540 hp. Otherwise I will not be buying a ram. Good job losing a viewer though I’ll make sure to share a different video review with my wife and father.
I just went from a 2021 Ram Limited Longhorn to a 2023 1500 RST Z71 w/LZO. I am happy with the LZO compared to the Ram Hemi. I tow a camper and the LZO just does it easier. Then there is the awesome daily driver mpg… Now the ride, my Ram had oem air suspension and it was nice, very nice! Ride was great and excellent for towing. The Chevrolet definitely doesn’t ride a plush as the Ram, but is not bad either. I am overall happy with the new Chevy and love the LZO engine. Hope that helps…
@@kryoutube6113 thank you very much for that information, i will test drive them all even the f150 but it takes about 1,000 miles to really get acquainted with a vehicle imo. A 6 mile test drive with a dude you don’t know chatting the whole time just isn’t enough so I appreciate getting feedback from someone who has recently had both trucks. Puts my mind at ease knowing the LZO has enough power and you have no regrets.
"my ram will ride better" spoken like a true truck owner these days never towed anything never used it to 25% of its capabilities. Totally subjective and not at all based on fact or how a truck is truly supposed to be used. What exactly constitutes as "better" More bouncy less bouncy more responsive while towing a trailer? I personally like my trucks to ride hard with nice stiff suspension That way when I put a real weight on the back it doesn't feel like a wet noodle and ride like a Kia soul the way that the Rams do but what do I know I'm just the guy who uses a truck to do truck things instead of go to the grocery store 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Again another video highlighting options… Why are these truck videos so boring. Every owner complaints about something that is so absurd it’s pathetic. Headlights? Running boards? Auto this ? Auto that? $80,000 ? And yet you knuckleheads still purchase these ridiculous “mommy trucks”! You buy , you cry! Nice to know you are getting rid of your vehicle that is a year old and 25,000 miles. But it has to go because you ordered your new truck? Sillyness folks pure sillyness! Please understand this isnt directed at the maker of the video, rather those that continually complain , yet continually purchase at $1000 a month! To see people that have things they can’t affford , then complain about it is priceless! Buy a truck and do truck things. $80,000 fluff wagons are ridiculous!
bro you gave a review on the features as if it was just bought just tell us why you are getting rid of the truck,,,you're not on a tv show. trash vid and misleading I couldn't get past 15mins
I'm new to your channel as I just got a '24 AT4 3.0 earlier this week. Big Kuddos to you for answering so many of these comments; I enjoyed reading them all and I learned plenty. Now I can stop trying to figure out why my pro tailgate won't go up automatically :) I've owned a 97 F350, 7.3, an 06 Ram 2500 Cummins and a 2016 Ram Laramie Cummins. Drove all three for almost 10 years each. This AT4 is THE nicest pickup I've driven. Thanks for helping me choose it.
The truck turned 503 miles last night. Other than the 100 mile trip home two weeks ago, it sees 7 miles to work and back. This morning, I get a check engine light, message is to "service the emissions system" and that "aacceleration is limited". Should I go run it 20 miles on the freeway and see if it corrects itself, or do I need to go direct to the dealer with it? I guess I need to buy the Banks display for it...@@DemonWorks
Question… do you know which GMC 1500 trim level allows you to get the “max trailering package”? Is it even still available in the 1500? Not seeing it under any trim level/configuration etc in the ‘24 1500 series. Thank you greatly in advance!!!
Max tow makes no sense in high country. It already has such low tow rating. I imagine you give up fuel economy too which is well... the only real upside in the 3.0 diesel.
What is that noise while the truck is idling? It's noticeable at the 42 minute mark. It sounds like an exhaust shield rattle but it probably isn't. I just bought one of these trucks and I'm learning it's quirks. Mine does the same thing.
Mine does the same. 2 trips to chevrolet ended in," The tech can't replicate the noise" "GM won't approve a repair because we don't know what to send them" If you push upwards on the exhaust pipe under the passenger side the sound goes away
The transmission temp thing, so the stock cooling systems in place aren’t good enough? Has there been a lot of reported problems? And was that from towing or just always?
High fluid temps can have a negative affect on the life of internal parts. The cooling system is sufficient for the vehicle and will likely help it last to it's 100,000 mile warranty and possibly beyond. I prefer to have lower temps to lessen the chance of issues.
