After steaming, you should've purged some water through the wand. This is the safest way to refill the boiler and restore the temperature to the espresso range. I know doing it the was you did works, but long term, it could be bad for the boiler if you don't do it in the manufacturer-recommended way (in the manual and in their RU-vid channel). Also pretty common workflow for single boiler machines.
