Yeah.... Body lift is better. You get more "real" clearance when you just put bigger tires on and by only lifting the body you keep a lower center of gravity.
You know, I don't think I ever tested it before trimming them. I just kind of knew they would given the geometry and I had learned about using an air saw to trim these flares, which made it relatively easy to trim.
I just wanted to go a different direction with all of my vehicles. I owned the TJ for over 2 years, which is a decent length of time for me, and did a lot with it during that time. This was also my 4th Jeep Wrangler. I'm now on my 5th, which is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4xE.
Was the 160A alternator w/ the higher end battery cables worth the investment? I have the original alternator in my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn and it's just about time to replace it.
I think so. It was more for peace of mind. Had I added the extra accessories I was planning (winch, power inverter, etc) it definitely would have been worth it. I had 160 amp alternator in my 2008 JKU and it powered all my added accessories with ease.
@@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy Peace of mind can't be underestimated. Aside from better lights and a possible winch by Fall, I just installed Kicker speakers, subwoofer with a high voltage amp to power them. And since, the TJ's volt meter isn't at 14 or above anymore. It's more 12-13 now. This TJ has the original alternator from '05. So it's time. I just ordered the PA 160 A Alternator with the Zen upgraded cables. I'm all about preventative maintenance, get after it before it becomes a problem.

@@NickKnapik8 If it's your first time, I'd maybe shy away from this lift. It is a combination body and spring lift, so it's got a lot going on for a first lift. I also ran into issues with rusted shock bolts becoming stripped and having to find unique ways to get them out. I've lifted several Jeeps that I've owned and I'd say this ranked up there as one of the hardest to install. Not really because it was overly difficult to understand, but because of it having a lot of different steps that require adjusting more than your traditional lift would. For example, by lifting the body 1.25 inches (1,25" body, 3" spring coil, gives it the "combo" designation), the kit also comes with engine mount spacers to help the driveline angles not be as great. Stuff like that, if you're a first timer, might be a little intimidating. At least it would be if it was my first lift. The first lift I ever installed was on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited Rubicon and it was a very simple spring and shock lift. I hope this helps!
