i always understood it as something like what the heart leaves behind in it's wake, like the wake a ship leaves in the water behind it now that this came up i researched what wake can mean and apparently it can also mean keeping a watch over something, so In Hearts Wake would stand for whatever the heart sees note that i'm not a native either hahah

If not for the first minute and a half this song would be a contender for song of the year so far. That first part with that girl's speech is annoying though
