Hiya, pleased to meet you. Stukulele became my 'persona' when I became a ukulele instructor in 2011. I am from Mullumbimby, Northern New South Wales, Australia, and a James Hill Ukulele Initiative Certified Level 3 teacher.
I began playing the ukulele at age 42 after being gifted a ukulele for fathers day. Things have not been the same since. My (at the time) 6-year-old daughter landed me my first teaching job at her primary school… then came community colleges… after 4 terms my students asked where do we go now? A monthly UKE NIGHT - Uke Mullum led by my partner Miss Amber and me... 'Stukulele' was born in July 2011 in the middle of our winter… over 200 people showed up on a Wednesday night.
Since then I have been creating monthly themed UKE NIGHTS which consists of choosing a theme, then picking 20 + songs that fit the theme to create a songbook. Then I assemble the best vocalists and musicians to present the themed set live for an audience of folk who sing and strum along. It’s a month-long process in which I learn and teach songs that I have often never played, and sometimes even heard.
Why you may ask? Because I love it. Music is the language of love and it keeps your brain active, staving off all the ravages of old age. The Ukulele just makes the whole process so enjoyable and achievable. Come with me every month, be involved in choosing the monthly themes.. discover and learn new songs. Broaden your repertoire, your mind, ukulele skills, compassion, speak the language of love and be a part of a community of like-minded folk.

When I picked up the ukulele at the beginning of the pandemic, one of my goals was to get so good I could translate this song from the banjo to the ukulele. I can’t wait to give this tutorial a try. Thank you.

This is an extremely clear and well thought out tutorial. From the time stamps to the explanation, mimicking other instruments on the track and including anecdotes of what you struggled with, it culminates in an amazing tutorial that makes you want to try and believe you will succeed. I’ll be making my first patreon pledge after seeing this. If this is the quality we get from a free RU-vid clip I can only imagine what the packages include. This was my late fathers favourite song which he showed me on his death bed. I’d love to be able to play it for him on my new banjolele which is being delivered tomorrow. So much more excited for it now. I’m sure it will make the purchase worthwhile and be one of those songs that my other ukes just wouldn’t do justice for. Thank you. You’re a legend.

Hi Stu, I‘m so gladful to found your Tutorial to one of my favorite Songs, I thought I never could play. Now I‘m on the way 🙂I can‘t tell it in English so we’ll, but what Noth says, is exactly what I mean: „ This is an extremely clear and well thought out tutorial. From the time stamps to the explanation, mimicking other instruments on the track and including anecdotes of what you struggled with, it culminates in an amazing tutorial that makes you want to try and believe you will succeed.„ Thank you so much. Greetings from Berlin! Annette

This is one of my favorit songs I never thought it would be possible to play it on the uke as a single instrument. Thank you. This will need a lot of practice!!! If I ever make it, I will upload a Video of the result. :-) Thank you for this excellent challenge!!!

Hope Jamie goes back in production and makes one with a concert neck. I made a banjo Joe with a 10" drum head and the neck from a $20 Duke from Craigslist. It actually doesn't play half bad. The Mic is kind of overkill-- banjo ukes don't need it lol!
