I had no idea that Salvatore Ferragamo was a podiatrist, that makes so much sense! I’m surprised that a podiatrist today hasn’t started a comfortable heel line of his or her own!
Your presentation inspired me to look for a virtual tour of Museo Salvatore Ferragamo. Once found, I discovered as you mentioned the beautiful building, shoe forms, art and more. It is hosted by the Director. Excellent suggestion. Thank you. Enjoy your work more each time I watch.
My uncle owns a lucite manufacturing factory in south Florida. They used to make tons of furniture in the 80's and 90's. I remember everyone in our family had those lucite candles with the gold flecks inside, which have now become quite popular. Sadly, they make mostly statuettes, awards, and such now. I SO wish they'd recreate some of the older style of handbags and the like, they certainly have the facility to do so. They're just worried there's not enough market for it....
I am so glad to have seen this. I trained in chiropody after leaving school but never took my final exams, however I have, as a consequence, quite a good knowledge of shoes. The illustration you have there of the different types of heels is interesting as I was taught the kind of hourglass shape was a Cuban heel but you have it listed as Spanish. I keep seeing people miscalling them because they think the Cube means square when, in fact, it refers to Cuba so I can see why the crossover.
Hi Doris I love the content of your channel..I watched you a few years ago on a channel on my tv..now I see you on RU-vid..I have vintage in my wardrobe..mostly purses and jewelry..I bought most of them before vintage shopping was popular..so glad I found you again..it’s a pleasure to watch you take care..debbie..I live in Vancouver Canada
ME TOO !! unfortunately people who get those awesome jobs never quit, so there's almost no way in. I guess you just have to get lucky! It's been my dream as well.
I love this channel. I discovered it during quarantine. I also reorganized my closet while watching/listening. Fashion can be a time capsule and I came across a few of my own gems. Love! I'm glad there are others like me that can appreciate such wonderful pieces.
Hello Ms Raymond 🙏🏿Thank you for this interesting show. Years ago I walked into Salvatore Ferragamo’s store on Rodeo Drive. They had an exhibition with larger than life sized photos of a few of his famous clients: Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn and Gloria Swanson along with their shoes sizes and favorite styles. It would be a wonderful 😊event to have your treasures 💝displayed at this same store. I AM certain the family will appreciate your Wisdom and Knowledge 🦋
I have a suggestion and that is at the end of your video it would have been very nice for someone to pick up the camera and then panin on all those beautiful objects you had that you showed us and do close-ups of it I know you put little pictures there while you were talking about it but it would be nice and I wouldn't mind a longer video if you got close-ups. I don't think it would be that difficult to have the object there on that wonderful black tablecloth and the camera pan around it. These objects were different than clothing and since they were so small and so beautiful I feel like I miss something. I am sure most people would love you to do this over again and spend more time just on the heels then do another video just on The Vamps and do another video just on the purses and make sure that there's close-ups of all of these
Doris, where are your favorite places to hunt for vintage and it would be so interesting to see videos of you on your treasure hunts! Love your videos and your treasures ❤️
The 1920s shoes were beautiful . I love the styles of heels , the shape , which I love to wear myself . The amazing details on them , are stunning . They really are works of art , but comfortable and more practical than today’s heel are !! Great episode , thank you .
Unbelievable! Your showstopper's twin in in my desk drawer right now. Someone donated it years ago to my costume shop. We're afraid to use it, as we don't want to damage it. it's a bear to fold back into that box.
Wonderful episode!!!! I adore embellished shoes! Love T-strap shoes and those fabulous handbags. The plastic handbags that look like white mother of pearl are my favorite! Thank you once again!
Shoe porn! lol That is how much I love them. I love listening to your wealth of knowledge on all of this wonderful vintage fashion. I could watch you all day. Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic items with us. ....faints. lol
There are a couple of great museums dedicated to footwear for everyone who’s simply obsessed about shoes! There’s the Bata Shoe Museum in Ontario, Canada; the Dutch Leather & Shoe Museum in the Netherlands; the Shoe Museum at Northampton in the UK; the International Shoe Museum in France; and the Museum at FIT in NYC - oh, and the Met’s Costume Gallery, of course! These museums have curated galleries of ancient shoes, ethnographic and anthropological collections of footwear from different cultures around the world, antique shoes and iconic modern works of shoe design.
I loved that show off, my tulle and net underkirts and petticoats take up so much room, how convenient for it to shrink down and be stored away in a box!! Hahaha I'm such a fan of this channel and of Doris and everyone who puts together this content, it's amazing and I watch most of the episodes multiple times (like just now!) I also love to share with my friends. Keep up the great work :D
NO! NO! DO NOT CALL 1940'S AND 1950'S BAGS DOWDY! I HAVE SEVERAL OF THEM, OH MY GOAWD THEY ARE SO STYLISH.....WATCH THE i LOVE LUCY SHOW. LOOK AT HER HANDBAGS!
i wish you would go through my closet with me so i could know what i have in here. i have a beautiful collection of vintage (everything) some things i sell on ebay. never sure it’s worth it seems until iv been undercut and the item sells. wish i knew more! thank you for these helpful videos and for sharing your passion 💕
Well done! I actually have seen another enameled insect heel, I think they were dragon flies. A lady we simply knew as Mrs. Winslow had been all over the world and would dress in these elaborate costumes for us kids on rainy afternoons in the 70’s. You know I love your work, just a gentle correction: for the record the hoops are parametric, not accordion.
I adore everything! So lovely-the shoes and purses..phenomenal! I love the ending with the cool hoop/petticoat that is sweet!! I'm always explaining fashion to the younger gen... Great episode, and I will be looking that up for places to see "new" old fashion items! TY!! :+)
Happy New Year Doris to you and family and your staff. You have a array of Beautiful stuff. The t strap as you said are very popular for dancers. It's so good to see a good shoe. Platforms are all the rage. Funny how everything similar comes back around. Very UNIQUE show and Tell..

I work for a luxury fashion house and this has been LOVELY too listen to! I see a lot of the styles that we are doing currently are reminiscent of the 50-60’s ☺️
Hello Doris I am Reginald and I am a fashion designer. I have a few pieces I think you may want. I have a pair of Ferragamo male shoes gently worn. Size 12. Also I have wooden purses dated in the 60s or 70s.
Yes!!!! Another episode. You are so knowledgeable. I loved the show and love your videos. Onde day I will visit the store and hopefully do some shopping. Hello from Brazil 🇧🇷
Such fun finds...im studying some native American pow wow outfits my dad found at the flea market...they look homemade...but i cant figure out which tribal styles they are...really pretty...materials and prints feel like 80s or 90s
love love love the shoes! This is kind of off topic but do you have any vintage Lilly Pulitzer? I live in the south where it is most popular but was just wondering if you have any of her older pieces.
Yes, they certainly did and, if you look into jewelry, diamond rings, necklaces, brooches, etc. those were also made for men. Women did not wear those. Look to India and portraits of the various Maharajahs. They are literally dripping in jewels, satin, silk, brocades, etc. Harry Winston lifted many of the designs for his collections from the Museum of Art when they would roll out their precious stones. Maharajahs were the first drag queens in the world! LOL
Please don’t leave those kimono on hangers for too long. I know you have to display for sale, but you will ruin them if they sit on hangers because these garments are just basted together.
For those who are buying Bakelite or Lucite purses. Make certain you sniff them first. The sign of the purses breaking down....it will smell like vinegar. Don't buy them, no matter how tempting, if they are beginning to smell like vinegar, they will have disintegrated before the year is out.
@@ssnfallon779 I just bought a house with everything in it. I have boxes and boxes and boxes of purses. She was 101.... 7 years ago and never threw anything away. So yes ...all jokes aside , your info. helped. I have 6ooo sq.ft to go through and not sure if there are more??? And if there was a purse then there was a hat and if there was a hat then there was a outfit. Its overwhelming!!!!!
very interesting episode! counted only 56 "uh" "ums" this time. you are improving in your presentation skills! love all the heels you've collected and i didn't even know vamps could be collected too. so neat.
