Just a few months ago I began watching videos on RU-vid of alpinists climbing big mountains. I didn't know who David Lama was. When I first watched a David Lama video on RU-vid I was so incredibly amazed that I soon found myself watching every single video of David Lama available on RU-vid. I thought "wow, this guy is such a young and talented mountaineer". I soon discovered that he was one of the most talented climbers in the world. His videos were really inspiring to me. I never thought the life and career of such a talented and young climber would end so soon. On his videos David always looked so passionate about climbing, he always looked so calm and in control. I try to find some meaning out of this big tragedy. To me the big lesson here is to follow your dreams with passion no matter what. To do what you love and to love what you do. Always. It doesn't really matter how long you live as long as what you do in life makes you happy. It is not about how long you live but how much you enjoy what you do in life regardless of your age. Great lessons by this young and talented climber. Thank you so much David for the inspiration. May you rest in peace.
Exactly. I’ve seen in some articles people saying they had bad judgement. But I’m sure it was just bad luck for them. Mountaineering and alpine climbing has a presence of luck.
Hej R.S. ....this could be excactly my words! Its excactly how i learned about David and how i feel about the excident. I am terrified about like everything...but He taught me there is no need for. Its not the years that count.
if you've only seen the youtube vids, make the effort to watch the full length Cerro Torre, a brilliant mountaineer on an amazing mountain. It's a very sad thing to lose an incredible human being but we are no doubt blessed to have been able to share in their journey at all. best wishes to all, good things to all people
Sincere condolences to all of the Lama, Roskelley and Auer family members and friends. My prayers for the ease of your grief which I know only too well as the mother of Denali Schmidt and former wife of his father, Marty Schmidt both deceased on K 2 (Pakistan) 2013. It is those left behind who have the agony of the climb through life without you.
@@skatenerd0815 Stupid people get stupid results. Ooh a rock, let's climb it. Anyone who puts themselves in such a f*cked up situation for no reason at all deserves the. bullsh*t they mine. Excellent comment, plus his dad died that way???
I just started watching videos with David climbing and thought how amazing it was to see the barriers being pushed and inspirational for others and then I sadly came across this about his passing with his fellow climbers. RIP
it is very acute for the nervous system. it's pure adrenaline even when you just watch. he is an extraordinary madman. the mountains took it to themselves. bright memory to the boy.
Lived for sure more than people wo died at 90. It is about how much you do in your lifetime. Yes he died young but I think he had more great moments and emotions than people who lives much longer than David.
I presume you've measured this? Why do people say things like this that they cannot possible know? Is it because you 'want' it to be so? Let us commemorate a fine climber 'without' hurling shit over those who seek a different path. Geez.
You guys are both wrong. There’s a philosophy behind his actions. Alpinistes live 2 lives. Their own, and their family’s. David was living his first life and past away. He died doing what he loved having already confronted the risks that are out of his reach. So please don’t argue and just appreciate the man that was once Mr. Lama
If you think this is your destiny ok then take the risk and go for it. But don't tell people what's the sense of life. They should find out on their own why they are here. And it's ok just to chill out and enjoy your coffee at home while watching a film. As long as you are happy. Cheers 🍻
What a beautiful video that helps capture his love/passion in life. It’s true everyone dies but not all of us get to truly live as this young man did. The world can be a unforgiving place but at least he passed away doing what he loved. Rest in peace our adventurous friend.
Every climber feels his lost. I never knew him personaly but after all these years watching all his videos it truly feels like we really did meet and shared moments on those crazy mountains he climbed and for that, I thank this kid, for taking me everywhere without even going. R.I.P. such big loss.
Rest in peace David. When I discovered your adventures, your already way up there. You've got a wonderful life. Love lots to the lovers of adventure up there like you. Hugs.
Ein sehr guter Kletterer und Mensch! Habe eine Zeitlang mit seinem Vater gearbeitet ... selten so einen herzlichen Mann kennengelernt! Tut mir Leid um die Familie! Ruhe in Frieden David
I was hoping David Lama would become over time to be the younger Ueli Steck. It was a dream not to be. I couldn't believe the news at first. He was always one who knew when to turn around, when to call it quits. But alas, fate has other plans for him, other mountains for him to climb. Even though he was so young, he died doing what he loved, what more can you ask for. RIP David, you can now climb higher and faster than ever, without fear, without fatigue. I'm sure you and Ueli Steck will make a great climbing team, I'm sure he has many mountains to show you up there.
God speed to your rebirth sir. A Calm inspiration with energy that can be felt but not explained, A rush of life with understanding, passion and invigoration a grip on heart and soul. Your new path with the lord awaits you.
Obviously he wasnt the best if he died. Im the best now hecause im still alive. All i gotta do is go climb a rock or a tree and im better than him. U idiot
Rest in peace David. Man I loved watching vidoes of your climbs and feeling free from just watching those. I think you inspired soooo many people to go out and do what they love.
The death of David went close to heart, even tho i didn't know him personally. Thru his dedication and mindset I got inspired to do what i love the most and I m thankful he shared it with us all. We lost one of the Greats, not only in climbing but also in general. I find solace that he died doing what he loved most, still there is this emptiness of what could have been. I wish that his family, friends and the climbing community can overcome this sad time and look back at his life knowing that he lived it to the fullest. Rest in Peace David
I am so glad I’m a nobody and that when i die my spirit won’t have to contend with total strangers blowing smoke like this. “Not just in climbing, but in general...” He wasn’t curing kids with cancer, you do know that, right? He went on endless vacations. Cool, but not exactly worth a medal of honor. “Died doing what he loved?” Selling red bull? Take it as a lesson that doing other things as well, finding a balance, might be a good idea. Might have saved Davids life. Not trying to be disrespectful-even if its happening. In climbing and life it is more important to be realistic. Thats my “inspiring” take away from this man. This kind of post mortem idolatry makes me want to puke. Sends the wrong message to the kids.
Todd your words come from somone who wants nothing from life. David had a passion that inspired people through how much he loved what he was doing. Red bull sells red bull and pays athletes to be the athletes THEY ARE. Leading our kids to think there is a cure for everything is far more dangerous then anything David accomplished in his life.
No, I want a little bit from life...and that is enough. do you want YOUR kid to try to take too much, pushed by sponsorship money? “Too much is never enough” is a sickness. It has only one cure. Its killing the whole world for god’s sake. Glad I’m a nobody so I don’t have to live or die as a proxy for anyone’s insane fantasies... mostly my own. -but yours are special.
@@toddmulligan2609 people like you are a shame to have in the climbing community. to say that his accomplishments were only to sell red bull is pure disrespect on this mans life work. his family had been climbing years before he was born and his goals reflected his hard work and training throughout the years. i wish for healing in your negative soul.
This great man is a true athlete in every sense of the word. Rock climbing without help, 🎿 down snow packed mountains. The muscles in his arms look so fragile yet he had amazing incredible strength. He wasn't afraid of dying, he just wanted to live his life. It's so dangerous, what he did but that he did it anyway speaks volumes about him. Wished he were still on this Earth and I send my prayers 🙏 up to his family and his two friends families.
Mountain and Sea... No matter how expert and knowledged you are. They both can be unpredictable sometimes (and, in many cases, once is enough). Powerful images and landscapes in this video.
Just from watching your videos, you’ve inspired me to further push myself on my own adventures. You truly pushed all boundaries and although you were taken far too soon, I know you’re climbing endless peaks in Heaven. David, may you forever Rest In Peace.
RIP David, Jess and Hansjorg. And heartfelt condolences to the loved ones you leave behind. The mountaineer’s life is 10 times greater than the average person. It’s a series of rich and emotional struggles at the edge of human experience. The mountaineer embraces his (her) passion equally with fear and divine joy. He knows no god but of himself and of nature. He is a fierce athelte and dreamer wielding a sharp blade. When he passes, his life becomes the story of sorrow and legend. At the highest level of commitment, he stands before each monumental task in front of him with stubborn determination; and with his comrades, he thinks not of his fate, but of his boundless freedom with tears of elation. He is accepting that the mountain is neither his friend nor his enemy, and by choosing to climb it he acquiesces that on any day the mountain can take him. Such is the irony and ultimate sacrifice of our sport.
He is definitely one of my favourite hero 🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻🇳🇵🇳🇵it was great watching their attempt to climb Annapurna 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Rest In Peace David Brother ☮️🌺🎉 nobody live in this world for ever but you lived with Nature and I believe you will live forever with those beautiful mountain 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The problem is there are limits in life we take and if you want to die early in life you surpass does limits and die because it gone beyond calculated risk then.
I understand what your saying but I think many people misunderstand people who live their life like David, they don’t have a death wish it’s actually the opposite they want to live life to its fullest! Some people just believe it is better to have lived 20yrs and did everything than a 100 and did nothing. To each their own. But I think David lived an amazing life and achieved more in his short life than most do. I admire him!
@@mistychang6654 Arrogant, myopic f**k! Do you think people who live long lives do nothing? Who the hell are you to tell others how they should live, especially taking risks many don't have the need or desire to take? Life is too vast and incomprehensible for the likes of you to spew such arrogance! You write like a twelve year old on youtube who spews ignorance and narcissistic BS!
One can only wish to be as brave as you, One can only strive to reach the heights as you did. But today, you left for the climb of the lifetime and we were again left watching at the base. RIP.
Hello David, Jess and Hansjoerg Thank you for the wonderful moments you gave us! We will not forget you and will take you to the mountains with us in our hearts. Rest in peace. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
I think he already achieved that. Lama set new standards for high altitude climbing. What he did on Cerro Torre and Lunag Ri ist already climbing history.
This man was my idol. I loved following his accomplishments, and he inspired me and I’m sure many others to try to live life to the fullest. It’s a shame that he is gone so soon, and so humbling to know even the most experienced and accomplished suffer from mistakes like the rest of us. Rest In Peace, David, Jess, and Hansjoerg.
@@samk7717 Conrad Anker!! 😎 Honnold is great ofcourse but David's climbing was so much fun to watch. Him and Conrad are just too cool, too good!! Speaking about strictly climbing Dan Osman was siiick too. Wbu?
thanks for sharing this well done and inspiring compilation video... those guys like uehki and david Inreally admire over any other sportsmen because of their strenght, great technique (can you imagine all required skills under pressure?) ability to go beyond no return possibilities... and their humbleness.
I am saddened deeply to find out such a great climber is gone so young. I am very familiar to the pain of of losing friends & family in the mountains. I just found out today. Gosh! what a loss for the climbing world. I watched many great videos of his climbs. 🥲May he be reborn as a great human being again! Om Mani Padme Hung🙏
Thank to all.. 🙏💖, my boyfriend was my mountain guide, after which I never climbed a mountain again!!! Two years have passed since the terrible disappearance of Ueli Steck, another immense pain for Switzerland 🙏😪. The climbers and Sherpas of those levels are not human but rather superhuman to be able to do what they do. Every mountaineer who dies is an immense loss for humanity😑😓😭.
I admire him deeply for his attitude, circumsight and way to climb! a terrible and sad proof that outdoors, some risks can only be minimized but never eliminated.
I came to know these awesome people just recently and the things they did they will continue to inspire the youths. I almost watch their videos everyday since I found them. RIp and thank you for the inspiration.
I always loved alpinists, Edmund Hillary, Reinold Messner are just supermen. I watched videos of David Lama few months ago, so talented, so humble,. Not to long ago Ulie Steck the swiss machine died, now it's David Lama, they were so young. What a tragedy for family and friends. RIP.
Im here randomly and its nice to see everyone so nice its sad this guy died but i bet he was smiling before it happend doing what he loved and by the video guy looks like a amazing climber so he will live on!!
