My paternal grandfather was a survivor of the Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School. He had crooked fingers from the teachers breaking them because he refused to write in English. He had two siblings who went to the school with him and both were raped. There were other atrocities committed too. RIP grandpa 1917-1981.

We Indians are always with Native Americans. We were lucky enough to get independence from colonizers i.e., Europeans. But it was not the case with indigenous people of North, Central and South America. They were butchered, they were converted into Christians, their population was decreased deliberately so that Europeans can become a majority. As and when they became majority indigenous people disappeared and were pushed into poverty, drugs so that they never become aware about their culture and rights. It's time for them to the issue to the UN.

@@nativeitzutakua-9863 I do like Trudell...listened to him through various things he said...interviews etc. Dennis Banks was the person who I first visually saw for AIM..then I did more research (not extensive, I will in time), but he gave me that pride I have to have....but I don't know...I just felt like he wasn't out there as much. Russell Means...I understand and I see what you mean (haha)...he even says he fell into that trap of hollywood, money and drug addict...he, became a different person, but I listen to him and he has a way of speaking that I say "yeah, that makes sense...I get it". So I apologize for saying Banks wasn't great because it isn't our place to judge, but to listen to yourself and always keep an open mind.
