Eddie Van halen made me pick up the guitar for the first time , but Randy was the one who made me want to learn as much as i could and to keep practicing no matter how much i got frustrated and felt like quitting altogether , and Randy's unbelieveable style and technical ability just made something inside of me wake up and get to it and never give up playing , that was 40 years ago and I still play Randy's guitar work on my guitar to this day and I will until I'm dead or I can't physically play anymore .Thank you for this memorial video of MY guitar hero who kept me inspired , a true legend . RIP Randy Rhoads , you will always be missed brother . \m/ \m/

Exact same here. I’m 56 now, still feel the loss as I did at 16. Now Eddie is gone as well. I’m lost. Randy’s work has been a life long lesson. He taught me perseverance, and determination. I’ve visited Flying Baron Estates where Randy died in 2020. Almost wished I hadn’t. It was so surreal. The house has been rebuilt and looks exactly as the pictures we’ve all seen. I sat at the gate and cried. What a senseless death. Makes no sense whatsoever. RIP Mr Rhoads

if not for RR, the music that we know would be a complete different sound and even more the style of players and playing as well bc in the rokkstar drawer there are either none or very few that were not influenced by RR,and made them want to play so there would be different bands or songs and most of all different people bc it was RR who started them wanting to play, if you disectvtuat it's hard to even imagine wat music would sound like

I started playing guitar in 1985. I didn’t know a single person that played so I just sat on the side of my bed everyday after school with a Mel Bay book lol. When I started high school I met my best friend till this day and he was in a band. The took me in and introduced me to RR and it was like a musical Nuke went off inside me. It was a whole new world of pure orgasmic sounds that honestly made me forget all about girls for a couple years. I tried to date a few times but I quickly realized girls were a major distraction that I didn’t have time for. I was going to be like RR and nobody was going to stop me. Three years later I was playing on a 4Wheeler a few hours before a gig. Yup I broke both arms, left wrist & hand in 5 places. My left arm was in a cast of some variation for 14 months then I had about 6 months of rehab. I got super addicted to pain meds. Musical future OVER! I tried to make a comeback in the mid 90s but the magic (what little I had) was just gone from my left hand forever. I still play but there’s no lightning in me. I’m going to try to record my first and only album (God willing) this summer just so my son will have some of my music to remember me by. If I can get this done I’ll be happy.

There is a video out there where Ozzy and Randy are playing Crazy Train and Randy is playing the lead and doing his guitar god thing that he does, and Ozzy is leaning on the mic stand and rocking out. Then he looks over at Randy and you see this look on his face and you can tell he is just as blown away by Randys playing as everyone else at the show. He understood he made a very good decision. Sadly Randy is gone and has been for a long time. Just imagine what he would have brought to the world of rock-in-roll.

Lee will forever be my favorite player....but I can't say enough how big of an influence Randy was on my playing especially early on.....and Diary Of a Madman is hands down Ozzys best album by a huge margin. I was lucky enough to have met Randy's mom once before she passed....she was a very sweet woman. I want to start with the biggest thank you for this video. Can’t believe it’s been 40 years since Randy’s passing. Truly a senseless tragedy. In 2020 I was able to visit Flying Baron estates where the crash happened. The house has been rebuilt as it originally was. It’s a beautiful peaceful place. They still run tour buses out of there and there’s still small private aircraft in the hangers. My wife and I sat at the gate and cried really hard. I almost wish I hadn’t seen it. I’m 55 now, and will never stop playing guitar and learning all I can. Randy’s influence on me has been a life long lesson, not just as guitar goes, but to persevere at all I can. Determination to be as good as I can, and to be as humble and appreciative as possible. At 15 years old I had no idea the impact his work really had on me. At now 55 I totally realize how much he changed my life. Thank you so much for this video. And still after 40 years, my deepest condolences to the Rhoads family. May GOD continue to take care of Randy Rhoads. I hope to meet him someday.

Wonder why they didn’t show his Gibson Les Paul custom. They only showed the case. And I hope them guitars were actually his, not the replicas. But I’m thinking replicas. Too risky to bring Randy’s real ones out of the vault.

First there was Les Paul, then Jimi Hendrix, then Eddie Van Halen, then Randy rhoads. Each man blew the guitar world away. I heard Van Halen 1 first, then about a year later I'm listening to the radio and I hear the baddest song I ever heard, flying high again. It was like holy shit, who is playing that guitar. Although Eddie and Randy are in the same era, they were fundamentally different. Eddie was why everything went to tablature because how do transpose his style in traditional sheet music. Randy rewrote the book for heavy metal. I started playing around and every new group that came out tried to sound like either one. That's when you realize the impact. I love Eddie, but Randy is why I still play. He just had kind of a sinister sound that I love. Wish he was still here
