Yes, I believe, "try" would be the operative word here. But hey, don't let that get in the way of you of screaming "BIASED!!!!!!" in light of the reviewer revealing that they are from California or literally any other place when they literally have good things to say about the "other" side. Me, as someone from California: If I want *good* fries, and/or want to go nutso/bongo on customizing my burger, I go to Five Guys. (Seriously, Five Guys has superior fries even though the two places prepare their fries similar. Five Guys just has the superior fries) If I just want a smack-down phenomenal just plain incredible burger without all the fuss and muss, I go to In 'n' Out (there is no contest in this arena). They may *pretend* to overlap, but when it comes down to it, outside of fries, they really don't overlap that much.

Same. I like the oil they cook in, and I like that their burgers taste fresher(to me). Tried In n Out and didn't care for it. Probably just what you're used to, though. I'm used to Five Guys. In n Out isn't as expensive at least.

Alice McElligott easily. In-n-out isn't that good. Everyone hypes it up and when one opens there's massive lines, but the fries taste bland and the burgers are dry. You have to put so much sauce on to counter the dryness, that you end up just eating ketchup. And the menu is so small. The only thing good about in-n-out is the price.

I lost my vegetarian card at 5 guys. and I love that they fill your bag with the remaining fries in the basket lol. so you essentially get 2 orders of fries for one. the food is double what you get elsewhere which is why it's so pricey.

Sad to say, the original location on King & N Beauregard St closed in 2013. There's about 8 or 9 other locations in the surrounding area tho. Five Guys all the way!

I'm not sure how I got to this video, but any taste test that doesn't have animal style burger and fries is not a very fair taste test as animal style is essentially the burger and fries they're known for and what makes them great. Omit the "animal style" and it's just another good burger.

Also forgot to add I'm pretty sure the beef weighs in more from Five Guys. And Emmy showed that tiny fry cut, but did you see all the oil on the bag? Because when you order a small fry there they fill the cup and then fill the bag with fries. A small fry can easily feed three people. I'm not picking sides, I'm just explaining why the cost was significantly more and I'm not saying whether paying double is worth it.

Bannanasammich= Anyone can make an In-n-Out burger too. They just need to get beef, cheese, thousand island dressing and sourdough bread. Please, In-n-Out is not unique. Their burgers taste very similar to Big Macs from Mcdonalds. Five Guys burgers, hotdogs and grilled cheese are all fully customizable. They have a lot of options. As well as their fries are amazing too.

I love the flavor of In-N-Out but I love how much you can customize your burger at Five Guys. Honestly, they're both really good. It all depends on what I'm in the mood for. Although, I'm not a fan of Five Guys' fries. Too floppy and soggy for my personal tastes.

California girl, high five! Emmy, you should try "extra toast" so the bun doesn't get soggy. In N Out potatoes are seasonal; when their premium variety is in season the fries can't be beat, otherwise they're just sort of regular fries. Chili peppers and a side of pickles are a must! INO wins because: drive-thru and smiles.

gorilla glue it's not really forcing you to look at the bible verses, as they are pretty hidden at the bottom of the cups and containers.. I hardly ever noticed them until they were pointed out to me

Jebus Chrust Did she say that? No she didn't. The vegetables are part of the burger therefore she has to address them. They add complexity. If you like the plainness of a greasy patty, cheese and bun then go for it. But that's not what makes a burger. No one has ever implied that vegetables are the main part of the burger. She said she likes that the vegetables add a fresh component to the burger, but that doesn't mean she thinks the vegetables are the main part of the burger.

Yeah, there are no meal "deals" like most other places, but you REALLY get what you pay for. Odd that you can pay less at a full sit-down place though... And those usually have even MORE options.

Honestly never had In-N-Out, so it's not fair for me to pick favorites, but growing up I had Five Guys. They've got a special place in my heart (arteries). :-)

Five Guys all day everyday...HOWEVER In-N-Out is a better deal for the price...but with taste? It's not even close. Five Guys wins that battle ANYDAY!!!!!

In California, we consider In-n-Out to be God tier. Seriously, we love that stuff. I'm sure you know amazing it is, being a California girl 😄. I will admit though, the Five Guys looked amazing.

TheEpic22 Amazingly overpriced. $14+ for a burger, fries and drink........and don't forget the "free nutz"! Seriously, shitty looking white and yellow iceberg lettuce and a sloppy burger, no thanks. I have eaten 5 guys, nothing to write home about. Mediocre at best. In Mobile Alabama on Highway 90 (Tillmans Corner) there is a place called Dick Russel's where they make Hardwood grilled steaks and burgers that blow away all the local competition, including 5 Gays! Unfortunately, it is not a chain. Besides 5 Gays is a chain that charges double for what you can get elsewhere, like Checkers or Rallies.

Opening up a burger is like magic, its like you don't want to know whats going on under the bun. It always tastes better then they look inside. I love a good burger, but I like the local places with local butchers. You spend a little more, but you get one HELL of a burger! I've had both featured here, but I like them independently for features and taste.

Great comparison... though In N Out does not use thousand island dressing...it's a million island dressing because that's how awesome it is:) In N Out, hands down.

I'm a chick from the Midwest (Kansas) and I've never been to the east or west coast, so I can't comment on In & Out but a few years ago we finally got Five Guys here. It is easily my favorite cheeseburger joint! Hopefully one day I can compare it to In & Out and Shake Shack. #burgerdreams

Tracy Allen I have been to all three and I can tell you that shake shack and five guys are in close competition but in & out is nowhere near as good. It reminds me a whole lot of steak and shake

Tracy Allen I'm from California and recently moved to Minnesota. Everyone there LOVES Five Guys, they act like it's the best burger joint ever and I guess for Midwesterners it kind of is. I'm a California native and grew up on In-N-Out and I like Five Guys, but there are lots of other burger places around here that are WAY better than both.

I've worked for both companies for multiple years. They're both so good and have their perks. 5 guys takes the prize in my opinion. Learn what you like, and you can get exactly what you want at 5 guys. Much love!

My parents are from California, but I live in North Carolina, so I don't get In-N-Out often. To me though, Five Guys is hands down better. Kinda expensive though, so I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. I just feel like every time I have In-N-Out, it's disappointing. I even think Wendy's has a better burger than In-N-Out. But maybe if I grew up on it, I'd love it as much as you.

not necessarily true over here on the east coast. I've never seen an In and Out until I took a trip to California a couple weeks back, but in NC and VA but there are Five Guys around.
