Krysta Rodriguez played almost all female characters in “in the heights”. She even had to sub for Daniella once.

@Emily Feher for what I know, Krysta started as understudy for Karen Olivo’s Vanessa. When Mandy Gonzalez (Nina) left the show, Janet Dacal (Carla) became the official Nina, and Krysta became Carla and understudy for both Vanessa and Nina. She left few months later after being cast as Wednesday Adams at The Adams Family play.

Am I the only one, as part of the latino community, that is kind of mad that most of the actresses can't actually said CHILE, they are all like "chili"? I feel like it doesn't actually represent the latino community, it just plain english when it said "I'm chile, dominica-rican"? Idk, maybe is just my view, but well.

It would have been cool, but I get that in english the "rican" ends better for the song rather than "ricana", so they did it in english pronunciation. As a Chilean I like that in the verse before the majority pronounces "Chile" correctly instead of "Chili/Chilee". It's a little something :')

Ive never seen the show so idk what her story is but from these alone I thought the idea (just with this character not the show) was the girl was American washed but her parents are ethnic so Shes asking about how to do things in her culture which would explain why she’s pronouncing it like an American. If this is wrong then they are consistently butchering this line and I agree

Wow, you can hear the productions that didn't quite achieve the authenticity of that latinx factor. It's a bit sad because that's like the one thing, apart from the raps, they should try to get right. Cause I can hear them leaning on latinx stereotypes that are just not true.
