In the Light: Magic of the Camino Portuguese

The Camino Portuguese is an approximately 245km long Christian pilgrimage trail, which starts at the cathedral in Porto, Portugal and then ends at its architectural namesake in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, but it isn’t just for the dogmatically inclined. The Portuguese Way is undertaken by people of all backgrounds and for all kinds of reasons, though commonly as a part of one’s personal growth. However, regardless of the multitude of possible personal life or spiritual perspectives, it’s also simply a very scenic and interesting 1-2 week long walk.
This video highlights the most special moments of my own camino, ones in which I’d become utterly absorbed in the sunlight’s exquisite play with the continuously unfolding environments, as well as the consciousness awakening primal sounds of moving waters in the multitude of rivers and streams that I crossed along the trail.

I did the Central Route of the Caminho Português back in March 2020, and had to stop at the border with Spain (in Valença), due to the Covid. I restarted and completed the Caminho then in September 2021, and reached Santiago de Compostela! Very emotional all the way. And then I went to Muxia and Finisterre.

@@marciobonfiglioli Thank you for commenting, and I hope the video brought back some good memories for you! I too did the Camino Finisterre, but not straight afterwards. It was wonderful to eventually reach the camino’s true zero marker at the Atlantic coast. Some of these scenes looked literally like paintings (by nature). No wonder you got ’lost’ in the moment. Also, the feel of it all is much like mystery unravelling before your eyes.

@@arn.karnia5524 The crazy thing is that I now feel these memories even more acutely than I did during the moments themselves. This and other such caminos, whether on foot or ’on the roll’, have ’rocked’ me to the core; graced by the blood, sweat and tears powered realizations and deeper appreciation of the subtle, hidden truth and beauty behind what we collectively experience as physical reality, as opposed to just playing a role with all the pretentious acting out while wearing all the expected gear. Appearances can certainly be deceiving, especially to oneself! Maybe this state of awakening is what it means to be a true ’rockstar’? And the best way forward, at least for me, is to simply keep on ’rocking and rolling’. 🤘
