Ask me tomorrow it may be Tank. Carl Palmer is in the stratosphere on it. The Barbarian focuses good with Keith Emerson. Easy get to albums for some real good favorites for today and what I own. Thanks, gents, for this outstanding episode of In The Prog Seat and, once again, special thanks to Pete et al for listing the picks for easy follow-up. Going to use those picks to make a playlist for a planned roadtrip during the holidays. Some great choices here - familiar with some but not even close to a majority. Prog, porn, perplexity, passion - it's all here and in great mixture, too. Most of mine were in the selections named with a heavy emphasis on work by Keith Emerson due to my piano playing past and present. Round that off with some Rush and Yes and my list would be complete. Really looking forward to the top choices of Prog '21 albums next week. Thanks for the time each of you spent agonizing over your choices. Made for some great viewing and future listening.

@@ericporter344 Hey Eric! Have to say Ken's pick "Karelia" and George's "Biosfear" are monster tunes! Also "Corkentellis" by Saga was a pleasant surprise for sure. I haven't listened to Wind and Wuthering enough, but I am definitely liking "In That Quiet Earth"! Of course the live versions of Crimson songs continue to blow me away. Great topic George! Here, my five picks (in alphabetical order): 1. Captain Beefheart-Ice Rose [album: Shiny Beast, from 1978]. For some people the voice of the Captain is unbearable, and I get it. So if you are one of those, just listen to this awesome composition (purely instrumental). 2. Frank Zappa-Gum Joy [album: Lumpy Money from 2009]. Originally released early in his career, this is the main melody of the gorgeous “Oh no”. For me, the best melody ever created. 3. Godley & Creme-Foreign Accents [album:L from 1978]. Another zappaesque composition. Is complex, catchy, fun, and scary good. 4. The Rudy Schwartz Project- Moslem Beach Party [album: Mislem Beach Party from 1984]. By now you can totally see my fascination with this kind of music inspired by the one and only Frank f’n Zappa. As I said on another comment here in SoT: This is Zappa of the present time without a doubt. 5. Thinking Plague- Les Etudes d’ Organism [album: In Extremis from 1998]. AN ABSOLUTELY MASTERPIECE.

The first I bought was The Sky Moves Sideways(grey vinyl) after hearing them in session on the Mark Radcliffe show. @@ericporter344 Yeah, I was glad you mentioned Opeth as I know you're not the biggest metal fan! Everyone is at a different stage in their listening evolution, I arrived at SoT due to the metal coverage so even newbie Prog like Hemispheres is new to me! Other than being a fan of metal I'm actually a big fan of Classical music and one of the coolest thing about getting into Prog is hearing the clear influence of Classical compositions, and you hear it especially in these instrumentals. The diversity of Classical influence is impressive - some stuff reminds me of Baroque-era music like Bach, all the way to 20th century influences like Stravinsky and Bartok.

@@TranquilityFireReid Makes me wonder how long after - especially since I noticed Pete said this was recorded as the Gong ranking was premiering, which puts it at well after midnight UK time! Toccata - ELP Kansas - The Spider Kansas - Musicatto King Crimson - Red Kerry Livgren - Konelrad I disagree: greatest composer, orchestrator, lyricist, and multi instrumentalist in this female prog lover's opinion - Kerry Livgren. Btw, Steven, I just love listening to you - you're terrific! I'd love to send you some Velveeta or Cheese Whiz (squeeze cheese)!!

Thanks Janice, it's such a pleasure being part of this fantastic team. I think my jokes are maybe cheesy enough without the Velveeta, but Squeeze Cheese?? Now that is something I've never had. Should I be afraid?

Hi Luis, I think this guy was trolling. I thought it was a brilliant show as usual, as nearly all comments agree.
