VLOG: Steve and Hannah are making tongue and groove flooring for a bathroom remodel. The birch was felled on the property and milled on a Woodmizer LT15 sawmill. It has been drying since the Summer of 2014 and now is being made into beautiful birch flooring.
This is a VLOG, not How To Video.
( I don't use a pushstick in this video because I'm ripping wide boards. That is how I was formally trained and feel comfortable using the tablesaw. I recommend using one if you feel better about it and for anything narrower.)
Thank you for watching!

In Norweigan tradition, in preparation for the next season, a dugnad takes place. The community gathers to tidy, clean, and fix a space so that it will continue providing an optimal situation for the community as a whole. In preparation for the next phase in history we suggest a dugnad. The spirit of will to work together is the mind set that will carry us forward. By combining the labor and ideas of many, we can produce something that will support the lives of many.
We have been rooted in setting up the main homestead site, but Dugnad Farm is a growing mobile collaborative of individuals giving and getting back to the land. We practice alternative building techniques, low impact forestry, renewable and recycled materials, energy efficiency, self sufficient technologies, and permaculture. Let’s call a dugnad to explore these alternative systems, to live more harmoniously with each other, and our planet.

You are brave with having such long sleeves around the table saw

Sweet video. You may need a higher CFM extractor

Thanks, I thought it was. I just picked up a 910 foley on Craig’s List. Have yet to get it working. It has a good reputation

That’s awesome! Ours was a Craigslist buy too, it’s worked great. Good luck with getting that going!

Why did it end?!? I wanted to see the relief cuts. And what is that hand tool you used at the very end (not the sanding block)?

Safety violations using the tablesaw without a riving knive/splitter or push stick @ 4:46 .Sawing to length using a Dozuki with both ends of the board supported, pinching the dull blade. @ 2:33. Too much hand work required to be productive and efficient. JMO

Yeah I don't like to publicly shame creators because they are trying but it is also sketchy on the tablesaw. Her hands where in terrible positions, one kickback and she's losing digits. Especially when doing production work, get a Grr-Ripper and save your hands.

In 30years of woodworking ive never used anything other than a push stick. A little common sense goes a long way

Would not want to teach new woodworkers to get close to the blade like this. All that spare wood around...must have a couple scraps take five minutes and make a safety push block.
