In The Still of the Night - The Five Satins

John Blanchard’s Don’t Let It Die In the Basement

The greatest Doo Wop tune of all time. Recorded 10 March 2018 from a PBS Doo Wop retrospective. Fred Parris re-recorded this in the basement of a New Haven Church where the original was recorded in 1956. Thank you TJL and PBS - I share for all time. Enjoy.

Unbelievable..it sound as good as the original..and in the same church as well!! Even the priest was singing along in the church, God certainly works in mysterious ways.

This was the anthem of young teens growing up in the late 50’s early 60’s. Cheek to cheek slow dancing at the high school dances, Confraternity and all the sweet sixteen parties!

Slow dancing to this fabulous song was the most fantastic thing that ever happened in Doo Wop.

Never heard that in my church. If I had, I probably would have kept going.

Fabulous song! Think about 1956 (before I was born!) and the restricted path for Black Americans to record, perform and reach their audience. Hurray for Fred Parris and so many others.
