A book with many characters and almost as many plane crashes.

I remember reading her books as a little kid, so I think it'd be cool read a book by her written for an older crowd. I find that when authors write books for kids, teens, and adults it's like growing up with them because there's something from them for each stage of your life. I definitely want read this book. Btw, that bow/hair tie in your hair is really cute.

I love your reviews. They say all the right things without giving the important things away. I think this definitely sounds like something I'd want to read, even though I'm categorically bad at finishing long books, so we'll see how that goes ;)

This book sounds so interesting, I've been noticing it around a lot lately and have picked it up but never bought it but this review makes me so interested in it! I just want to let you know that this isn't actually her first adult novel. She's written a few others, Wifey being her first, but it is her first in nearly 20 years. My grandmother enjoyed Wifey and she's the one who introduced me to Judy Bloom so I wonder what you'd think.

+Charr Frears I was hoping someone would have pointed this out. I went and Googled it as I thought I was mis-remembering 'Wifey' as being by Judy Blume. It felt so odd reading that as she was my favourite author as a teenager and I've always associated her with those kinds of books.

I definitely want to read this one. Judy Blume also wrote Smart Women and Wifey for adults, if you want a look at the 70s and 80s (of course, that's when they were written, so they're not historical per se..).

For those considering reading this book, here's my review on it, just for a second opinion. If you've already read it, I hoped you liked this book, because I sure didn't! Get ready for a lenthy reciew because I have A LOT to say. I'll break this up into characters, plot, and an Other category. Characters-When I got this book I thought it would be more an emotional journey through loss and severe trauma while having to cope with real life issues. I got some of that, but it was more about boyfriends boyfriends boyfriends!!! It really upsetted me that this focused mostly on (forced) romance and not what I was advertised. Too many characters also made me really confused, I'm reading wondering who this person was again and how they are connected to Miri. And while we're on characters, all of the characters weren't relatable or well developed for me. Mainly the women because they were all helpless without a man. Maybe lack of depth is because there were so many or that's how people are apparently! Plot-There were also some parts of the book I felt were kind of pushed in last minute to give it more action, like Natalie's issues as well as the flop that is the "climax" which is basically the most laziest climax ever and it had nothing to do with the rest of the book whatsoever. The plane crashes are in there, but kind of just happen and are referenced until the next one happens. Which confuses me because this is supposed to be a small town and no one is really freaking out about this? I mean, they're freaked out, but not as much I would think a real town would. Other- This book has a lot of fluff, Blume just goes into extreme detail about insignificant things. Like what a dentist's office looks like, to the sex characters have. She even dedicates several pages to one character about several hours of her day, only for her to get killed right after! I assume this was to get us emotionally in her, but it failed. I'm sure if you took out all of the unimportant stuff this book would be pretty short. Another thing is that Mason was a creep to Miri, and she does nothing about it! Like "Oh, some guy I haven't met before just dancing with me in the dark, that's normal!" For me, this book was a huge dumpster fire and made no sense on what it wanted to focus on, romance or tragedy? That's my spiel on the book.

This is actually her fourth adult book. Maybe you meant that it’s her first adult book in a while. 🙂

I know you said this was definitely an adults book but do you think 16 is too young to enjoy it because it sounds really good?
