I grew this plant several years ago and adored it. It got bigger and better every year for about 3 years then didn’t come back. The flowers are beautiful with a turquoise stripe down the center of each petal, and they lasted so long in a vase. I will try it again if I see it around. Zone 6b in PA.

I never knew this could be grown as a perennial until I saw it in your garden. It is such a prolific bloomer. Thanks for sharing.

There are several color options and many of them are not perennial so you do need to watch the hardiness zone. www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/perennials/alstroemeria/

One of my favorites. I use this flower on the church Altar all the time because I can usually get two week’s worth out of it. Do I buy this flower in plant form or plant from seed? I don’t remember seeing the plants last year at the garden centers. I always enjoy watching your videos.

They are super long lasting. We sell them in plant form. Here is a link to the current colors we carry. Be sure to watch the hardiness zones as they vary. www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/perennials/alstroemeria/

I just ordered 2 from Garden Crossings for April!!! Love love this in your garden. I hope they become as beautiful as in your garden. Thanks for sharing. Also the My Monet weigela in your garden is Purple Effect correct? I want the pink purple hue leaves as well as the blooms like yours.

Heidi, thanks for all your wonderful videos! I always thought that these were called alstroemedis. They look the same, so Am I just mistaken in the spelling of the name? These are my all time favorite cut flowers for their longevity and beauty. Do you buy these in seed, or in a plant? Thanks for all your terrific information!

Is this just one plant? I'm in a zone 6 so would mulching it in very well in fall help for trying to over winter?
@gardencrossings
@gardencrossings 2 года назад
Yes this started out as one plant. The clump gets larger each year.
@SamSam-kq6qb

I love the flowers but despise their root system. And they're invasive! I have to divide mine every 2-3 years and even then the root clump is huge. Probably best in a container in the ground. As a cut flower they can't be beat, so many beautiful colors.
@gardencrossings
@gardencrossings 2 года назад
I think that may depend on where you live. Here in Michigan zone 5/6 they are not invasive.
