Definitely one of the greatest death metal band from all times !!!Bestial , raw , pre historical vocals....astonishing criativity... Incantation never disappoint !
@@Ibexmoonrecords As someone named Dave had said in a review that the devil was saying after Incantation, people aren't scared of me anymore. GREAT album. Love how this lures you in, and never lets go . . .
Incantation being Incantation, for those looking for more '' experimental '' death metal, let me tell you, waste your time here, this is old school style death metal and nothing else.
I like death metal, but I almost didn't listen to Incantation and I don't really know why. But I saw the band live, here in ES/Brazil and it's absolutely killer. I became a fan
Great album! I remember when incantation was the cutting edge of extreme, and it was some of the shit that was pushing the boundaries of death metal. And then after a while they'd release an album that would be so fucking good, and lame reviewers would always say "they haven't evolved enough" and stuff like that, like they wanted them to come out with an album like cold lake or something. And now all those lame bands that "evolved" with the fads of the day are long gone and incantation is still making awesome music for the real metal heads.
Definitely one of their best albums. Awesome riffs, good songwriting and structures, and DEFINITELY their best lead work! I mean holy SHIT these tapped riffs (like on propitiation) and solos (like on black fathom’s fire) kick serious ass! For being an album about ancient evils, the leads are seriously sci fi, which I LOVE. It adds a sort of “ancient aliens” vibe to the album. Great stuff! John McEntee, I can see you’re still replying to people’s comments, so if you see this: thanks for everything you’ve done, you’re one of my heroes! I can’t wait to see you guys once COVID is over!
@@Ibexmoonrecords dude the way you interact with everyone is so cool u dm me a while back when i found out u had made camp in the boro...ill see you next week with goatwhore in nc
I have a fun memory of seeing these guys at Maryland Deathfest. It started raining pretty hard right as Incantation went on, and it made for this sodden, epic, grueling death metal experience in the parking lot of downtown Baltimore (which is where Maryland Deathfest was held outdoors at the time). What a time.
Yeah i could imagine that night, im a huge INCANTATION fan,i have seen them many times, i have met John and he is such a cool person,,i miss concerts, hopefully in 2021 they will start tours again
I remember when these guys came out. I remember seeing ads for their first album in underground fanzines. I lived in hick country so virtually all of my metal came in the form of mixed or blank tapes from collectors around the northwest. They sound different, but still the same after all these years.
I dislike how Incantation is known to many simply as “the band that did Onward to Golgotha.” Man, this band has put out plenty of great releases and still continues to. Got my vinyl and long sleeve, support death metal 🤘
I like Onward but also albums like Mortal Throne of Nazarene, Upon the throne of Apocalypse, Diabolical conquest. Also dig the EP's Blasphemous Creations & Entrantment of Evil. I jam Incantation more than bands like Deicide or Obituary
Holy shit! Old school death metal fan here. Haven't kept up at all with much since about '94. This popped up & gotta say y'all still sound iconically fucking brutally great! I fondly remember Incantation from the day. Chuffs Incantation!!
Years ago my roommate had a party. He was an emo kid, nice enough guy. So he's blasting some stuff with these kids whining about how hard middle school was,so I'm in my room listening to Incantation on a boombox. One by one kids going to the bathroom stop at my door, and pretty soon I was throwing a death metal party.
Death metal del bueno, de la vieja escuela, composición cuidada e intros muy trascendental, no continuista y no repetitivo, una gran producción a la altura de los mejores. 🤘👍
4 stars out of five, Classic Death Metal doesn't get much better than this top to bottom, has all the success recipe's elements. From the tasty blast beats, to the slow, doomy atmospheres, to the Slayer-type double bass grooves. And of course, top-shelf guitar playing. Most of the songs are so much memorable and are placed so well within the album; love this kind of stuff. Guys have arranged a greatly produced, incredibly dynamic collection of catchy riffage(seriuosly, some of the arrangements are catchy as hell, check Igniis Fatus) and satisfacting rhytms and growls. Guys are doing what they do best, even if some people find it repetitive or *low sunk*(😒) they know how to do it and they do it freaking great. Props to them for making a fun and unpredictable album off an overblown style in so many ways. My favorite song is Propitiation and Chant of Formless Dread IMO, this year hasn't been so bright on Death Metal, and these guys should release a live album to replace a tour :(. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've come across several thoroughly enjoyable death metal albums this year: "of Serpents," by Foul, "Vanished Cadavers," by Molder, "Sworn Enemy of Life," by Cystic, "Speciation," by Faceless Burial, "The Inhabitable Dark," by Obscene, "Shrines To Absurdity," by Thætas, "Conjuring the New Apocalypse," by Aposento, "Stare into Death and Be Still," by Ulcerate, "Buried Incarnation," by Purtenance, "Recoveries of the Fallen," by Adramelech, "Entropic Reflections....," by Voidceremony, "Altar of Gore," by Altar of Gore, "The Sanguinary Impetus," by Defeated Sanity, "Filth," by Enslavement, "Užribis," by Luctus, "Ersetu," by Devangelic, "Brain Paralysis," by Bognor, "Portraits of Mind," by Plague, "The Sixth Hour," by Blasphemer, "Echoes of Terror," by Disembowel, "In Umbra Mortis Sedent," by Xpus, "To Crown All Defilement," by Dearth, "Endless Sea of Graves," by Decrepid, "Infernal Comedy," by Ad Vitam Infernal, and "The World That Was," by Temple of Void. I'm sure I've failed to include a few albums, but I've enjoyed each of these releases. Perhaps you might like to check them out if you haven't already.
@@XX-mx4jt not only have i not heard these albums, but i have never heard of ONE of these bands (lol) thank you, for now i got a lot more stuff to listen to, which one do you think is the best? And more technical/original/creative?
@@isaacgabrielvalbuena2896 The releases by Defeated Sanity, Ulcerate, Thætas, Voidceremony, and Xpus are the more technical of those listed, I believe. Definitely check out the other albums by Ulcerate and Defeated Sanity if that's your preferred style. The albums I seem to find myself going back to the most frequently are of Altar of Gore, Foul, and Disembowel, but they've all been on rotation. Just depends on the sound I'm after. My taste is cyclic.
I’ve know about Incantation for over 15 years. Gave them a few tries when I was simply way too new to death metal to be able to process what they do. Over the past year or so I’ve begun to listen to them more than any other band. Once one grows a taste for the doomy stuff, it becomes very difficult to get enough of this band. I see why they haven’t been admired/cloned by so many other death/doom bands. I want to thank John for chatting with me for a few minutes after the show in winter park FL earlier this year with Nile. Can’t wait to see you guys again 8/1 with Goatwhore. And I must say along with Sects, I’ve grown very fond of some of your more overlooked albums like Dirges and Primordial.🤟
These guys have been around for quite some time, but they're definitely still doing it right. Other than the commonly mentioned Florida scene and Swedish scene that dominated the late 80's and early 90's, there's a whole movement of bands nowadays trying to revive old school death metal, some examples being Skeletal Remains (just put out a great album), Gatecreeper, Tomb Mold, and a bunch of others. This has a lot of doom metal elements too though!
John if you see this you appreciate the music bro. You did a great job here. Other than dirges I think this is the best record you guys did out of the past several.
Man, this is good. I love death metal, but to be honest, I never paid a ton of attention to Incantation, and it seems that was a bit of a mistake. Love the doom elements here, the vocals are brutal, and sick riffs too. I'll have to come back to this! 🤘
Holy fuck, having been teased away from old school death doom by the flurry of progressive tech-death bands over the past few years I'm so fucking impressed by this! The production! The mix! All awesome!
INCANTATION always experiments within their sound, you can take onward next to blasphemy and you'll still have incantation. Fucking awesome live band, always for the impending diabolical CONQUEST!!!!!
Wow!! Great job John! I really love the production on this album and of course i am once again so glad you stayed true to the evil riffing style that makes INCANTATION my all-time favorite band. The way true death metal was ment to sound. Looking forward to hopefully seeing you guys again in London Ontario sometime.
@@octaviolobinho7382 já vieram aqui para o Brasil tocar diversas vezes. Fui num show deles em 2008. E tenho um álbum deles ao vivo aqui no Brasil gravado em 2001. Estou adorando este álbum.
