I'm an old stiff, who rarely hits the dance floor. But if I ever hear this truly brilliant tune, I can't keep still. It got me going thirty odd years ago and still does it for me to this day. Marvellous!
@@Raiche58 Hi not being a Know it All or anything as You have great taste in Music...but this version was about 1991 and Ronnie's original is from the album Pressure Sensitive, I own it. Unless it was called different in other countries, same goes for year of release of Incognito version?? I'm in England. Cheers.
@@davecoalwood9487 Thank you for the correction on Incognito. I just did some quick internet searches. I'm fairly certain about Ronnie Law and Side Effect from a Chicago, Illinois perspective.
1991: the war was over and I was going home. But everything and everyone had changed…including me. The next few years were a nightmare. I tried going to school and working 2 jobs to make it. But it was not for me. I didn’t go to drugs and alcohol,, I went to work on me. Finally I found Incognito after hearing “beneath the surface “ on the radio and I bought all of the CD’s I could find including this one. They helped me immensely through the whole process of getting my stuff together! Thank you Bluey!
When I first heard "Always There" on the radio in 1975, I immediately went out and bought the Ronnie Laws Pressure Sensitive album. Incognito is one of my favorite music bands. And I still love listening to "Somebody Else's Guy" by Jocelyn Brown. That's three for three: great song, great band, great vocalist!
After Ronnie's original side effects was the first vocal version I heard and after that everyone wanted to take stab at it it just one of those songs that people love to remake
Great tune. A real classic of its era. Had the pleasure of seeing Jocelyn Brown live in London. When she sings Somebody Else's Guy, you KNOW you're listening to a proper singer 🎉❤
Oh my teenage years are wrapped up in this song....when i used to sneak out and hit the club with my mates and danced like theres no tomorrow.Love love love me some incognito ❤❤❤
Amazing beautiful lady jocelyn brown and this song first heard this song in 1994 28 years ago Ive loved loved it ever since classic its still brand new to me 28 years on even tho its 32 years old
Ronnie Laws and Incognito´s re-imagination of cult classic jazz song Always There is beyond comprehension. Such a groove and inspiration. Thank you so much for listening experience of a lifetime.
At the suggestion of the record shop worker, I bought Ronnie Laws Pressure Cooker and Always There was on it with just instrumentals. A couple years later I hear the song with lyrics but it wasn't a popular song in the South and therefore got very little air time. Finally, I found out it was Jocelyn Brown singing vocals on it. Back in the 70s there was no such thing as a "public" internet...it was still in the works. But I traveled and that's how i found other covers. When we finally got the internet, I would search for the artists I used to like as my old vinyl collection got damaged, some stolen, etc. I grinned from ear to ear when I stumbled on a concert by Incognito featuring Jocelyn Brown. What amazed me was how receptive the crowd was at this Stockholm concert, knowing all of the words to her songs. Not just a couple of people, but the entire audience knew the words. It always baffled me that Black American artists are embraced in other countries but must have "connections" to get the exposure in the US. Kudos to Bluey for this fusion of cultures from around the globe that make up Incognito. Thank you for showing the world that music is universal. And, finally, thank you for spreading joy and love everywhere. The feeling of love is palpable! I'm 70 years old now but look forward to the day you have a concert near me. I will forever be a fan. ❤
A superb tune, very early 90's. Lovely acid house jazzy sound. Incognito, a great band of musicians. You sadly will not hear this kind of music anymore, it was of its time. While 80's was the golden age of music, and it is my favourite, the 1990's was a close second, I cannot remember the 70's. Music began to go downhill from 2000 .
wow! That's... that's real music. I love everything about this song. I will be never be tired of listening to this masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❣
