Going for a Ruckmarch this morning; taking sometime to reflect on the tragic terrorist actions during 9/11, closing out 20 years of military service and counterterrorism operations in response to those events, and everything else along the way. Marcus, I’m really enjoying this channel and applying it to my “aging” fitness “needs”. Holistic fitness kept me in the game of life and it’s a big part of me staying resilient, keeping up with a super-wife and 5 kids. Enjoy the day everyone and love your neighbors.

This video was just what I needed! I resonate with everyone of your points! 53years old, a dietitian and am seeing my body shift in ways I dislike! Time to take what I know, shift my energy to discipline with intention! I have been using the excuse of “menopause “ and falling for it! Thank you for making it real and hitting all the points here!

Great information as always. I am 41 years old and I lift 4-5X a week. Having osteogenesis imperfecta, I have to do the weight lifting thing to keep my bones strong and plus I enjoy doing it.

Than you for mentioning the scale. I used to think the scale was the enemy and there were other ways to measure success. Obviously there are. but the scale is an immediate reminder to keep yourself focused and on track. Once I started seeing it as a tool and not a club I started seeing results quicker.

i'm 68 and still training. i wanted to comment on your short about adding strength training vs. the getting run over by a truck syndrome. i was a powerlifter 45 years ago, quit that, but never stopped working out. i started calisthenics training 2 years ago and after about a year of training had to back off due to inflammed shoulders, wrists, and elbows. i spent about 3 months rehabbing with easier exercises (wall pushups from convict conditioning and bodyweight squats). i've stopped trying to keep up with people 1/2 my age that have youtube channels, but do incorporate their exercises at a volume that doesn't hurt me. i'm mostly doing basic bodyweight exercises along with beginner level kettlebell and it seems to be working. my strength goals are more in the realm of calisthenics...i'm working on getting a free standing handstand and l sit. i can do a pistol squat, but rarely do them because my knees don't seem to like them. btw, you have a good channel.

This is gold! A big shift for me at 43 is eating enough, especially my protein, lift 4 days not 6 and drop my alcohol consumption especially out of Covid. And lastly getting MINIMUM 7 hours. Anything less ruins your metabolism.

And for those over 40, 50, 60, you've said it before, joint pain/aches are a call for better and more conscious movement. Proper technique and awareness > weight lifted. Shelf the ego and revel is a happier body. As always, thanks for sharing Marcus.

during football season (I coach) I am essentially working 2 full time jobs.., in addition to family life. I try to keep the activity level up.., but some days, after working a full day, practice, and then studying tape (to help up properly scout opponents in addition to self scout to correct techniques) I literal fall asleep as soon as I get home. With all this I tend to lose muscle and weight and the eating, if I have time is usually not too bad.., I just don’t get enough calories, let alone protein.

You definitely have my attention, however I have eaten in a deficit mini mini times for 2 to 3 months and I can still not lose weight! I do rotate days and night shift so I know That plays a big part! I’m trying to get motivated yet again to try IF. I feel like it’s hopeless, what do you use for tdee So I know what I need to be eating every day?

Hey Marcus, Been thinking about this video the past couple of days. I was wondering if you can get a bit more in depth on recovery. I'm 43 and don't bounce back a quarter as fast as I used to. I do my best to get 6-8 hours of sleep. I've got my diet locked down and protein focused and feel like I'm in a good stride rotating between Chest and Arms, Legs and Back, Cardio, and an Off day here and there. I've tried using a Foam Roller and didn't much care for it. I recently picked up a percussion message gun which has really helped my Quads recover faster. I know you have a sauna and ice bath (I don't). I feel like if I could do more to focus on recovering better/faster I could continue to push harder on my heavy days and can't find many recovery focused videos. More just everyone talking about how important it is, especially when older, but not necessarily guiding that recovery. Just a thought. Thanks for the videos as always.

What are your thoughts on natural adaptogen boosters to increase HgH?
@YuliaOparista

Before I started weightlifting, I was on a lower calorie regimen without really paying attention to my macros though. I started working with a trainer that worked out a macros plan for me with higher calories when I was on the lower calorie meal plan I was not losing and not gaining, and after switching to a higher calorie higher protein meal plan that the trainer created and lifting weights five times a week and doing cardio three times a week. I’m still not losing and my way to stable and the measurements are the same . To me it seems that the calories that I’m on now are good for maintaining and I decided to lower the amount of fat and carbs and as a result a lower calorie number per day but my trainer is saying that I cannot do that, even though I don’t have any results, she says that I will lose muscle and to stick with the program even though it’s been eight months and nothing changed. What are your thoughts?
@marcusfilly
@marcusfilly Год назад
Hey Yulia, thanks for the question. If your goal is to lose fat, it will be best to pay less attention to the scale and eat the proper amount of protein. Hope this helps.
@YuliaOparista

@@marcusfilly thank you, I weight 156 lbs and I eat 130 gr of protein a day, up till a month ago I was eating 155 gr of protein a day, not only the scale does not change but my measurements haven’t changed in 8 months.

I watched your videos and you say that people overestimate their activity level and how much they eat and that it’s possible to make a change after 40-50 years old . So is it a correct course of action to reduce calories and increase cardio at this point for me?
