Frequency is definitely a huge output driver, it was for me anyways. I am also a twin mom, for the first 4 months I pumped every 2 hours round the clock, then when they started sleeping longer stretches at night I did too but still pumped every 2 hours all day 6a to 10 p. I also ate consistently throughout the day, heavy protein and calories, I even had an overnight snack drawer in my nightstand and would eat overnight at each pump sesh, no this did not cause me to gain any weight. I was able to pump between 10 and 14 oz each session and did not have to supplement and I made it a whole year ( I just did my last pump 3 weeks ago), I did not use any supplements I was just super strict with my pumping schedule, ate and drank a ton. I also used a combination of 3 different pumps one of them being a wearable which saved my life to be able to get out of the house, I have a 6year old as well and couldn’t be at home all day. I was very lucky to be able to make enough milk for both babies, it would have been a super expensive first year otherwise, formula is so so expensive!!! Good luck to all those in their pump journey, your doing great, your beautiful and strong and you can do it!!!

This is so beautiful to read! How were you able to find the right size flange that works for you? I’m having such a hard time finding the right flange. I’ve used the measurement rulers and measured at 19, but I have pain with 19 and 21. 😢

Which pumps did you have?

@@mariambintsaid3814 1)spectra s1(blue top most insurance covers for free, used as my main pump especially the first 6 mos, it is able to be cordless but is definitely a home base pump. 2) Zomee zm2( also covered by alot of insurance or is a very small upgrade fee, I also used a ton throughout as it is handheld I usually just wore a zip up hoodie and stuck it in my pocket , and I got the cups to make it more discrete and easier to hold babies or feed babies while pumping- the cups are wonderful but still have tubing attached I would just tuck them into my shirt. 3) The holy grail that got me to the year of exclusively pumping for twins and freed me from my house was the new Lansinoh wearable pump ( available at target for around $240, extra cups are $40 and I suggest an extra pair they come with a few different size nipple flanges if you need, this is very discrete, fairly quiet and the capacity per cup is around 7 oz which if you have a good supply is amazing- other pumps are usually around 5 oz and other wearables are even less-it allows you to really get a full pump** friendly tip really pay attention to the order you close the cup just follow the directions really well, I goofed the first few times but it was overall my favorite pump- I took it in the car, shopping, to my family’s house, when we had company over and I didn’t want to miss out on 20 mins of time with them, cleaning around the house you name it, also holds a charge for a few days). Hope this helps you on your journey 😊

@@quintanaallen1551 I don’t know why I didn’t see this sooner sorry for the late response. So it really helps when you measure your nipple for it to be hard which is the shape it will be when pumping and buy a flange insert if needed I got mine on Amazon from Allison’s store, I also experimented with my settings on my pump and for me a super low cycle speed and mid strength vaccum was best, I always started my vacuum level really low and would increase to my comfort. I never found I had to pump for more than 20 minutes and was usually pretty comfortable. I hope this finds you well.

Hi Allison, Would you be able to make a video on Dysphoric Milk Ejection reflex? I think it can be quite an impediment to milk supply. I had no idea what it was until today and kept wondering why i felt so incredibly awful at every letdown, especially when pumping. The feeling is so overwhelmingly sudden and brutal that i have to burry my head in my hands and bite the bullet for a few minutes until it goes away. Thankfully for me it goes away after a minute. As a biologist i knew immediately it was likely to be a rapid hormonal change (it's apparently a sudden drop in dopamine) but the whole internet tells me i should feel precisely the opposite, and i got very VERY confused as to why i felt this. It would be lovely to get your take on this, and possibly hear about the experience of others. I feel like it really affects my pumping journey and makes it particularly difficult to manage.

I nurse my twins when I’m with them. When I work I’m doing modified power pumps 10/5/10/5/10/4/10 every 2 hours. I’ve tried multiple pumps and flange sizes. I find I’m more comfortable with my exact size flange instead of adding 2mm. Maybe I can try that. But I’m still 5oz short when I work. They are holding their (tiny) curves but I’m sure they would fatten up if I had more milk. I can’t imagine pumping more often than every 2 hours for 55mins at a time, but I’ll do absolutely whatever it takes to make more milk. Any tips?

I notice in the screenshots, her first round was all 20 minutes each and her improved output is all 25 and 30 minutes sessions. I'm sure that helped too?
